Been watching since the beginning Jerry, it's just the heavy discussion on Belgian stonework was just so riveting I found it physically impossible to reply.

Heeheehee,
We do love our miniatures,do we not?
Seriously though,I admire passion. In any field! It was nice guys were trying to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Or the schist und mortar!
Thanks Chris,for sticking with me.

Mr. Rutman....absolutely AMAZING!

If one wants to define the true meaning of a "Storyboard Diorama"...

This is it!

Cheers,
Joe

Excellent work Jerry, I really like the stone work and especially the way you have made the stone fragments chipping of the corner of the building (you can almost see that bullet hitting the wall) great work.

Tom

Thanks Tom,
I appreciate you taking the time to post your comment. Means a lot to me when people use their valuable time these days.
I tried to push myself a bit. Some things worked, others, not so much. Even I can barely notice the 20mm hit in the mud diagonal to the corner. Needs more skill to pull that off I suppose!
Thanks again buddy,

Jerry this is such a fantastic telling of this combat action, there is such a wealth of detail in the scenes and the scenic backdrops really help to place everything in a great context. I must say the soldier in shock in the doorway- that is sheer brilliance- it reminds me of the famous Don McCullin picture of the Marine in Hue City suffering shell-shock- you've managed to convey such a convincing look on his face and it fits in so nicely with the scene- really telling the viewer something of just how heavy the 20mm fire is. The soldier turning away from the shot-up wall also brings this area to life- it really does look like a realistic reaction to the wall being splintered. Its been a complete pleasure to watch the elements of this story come together.

Karl buddy!
What can I say? I always look forward to your eloquence and knowledge being put into words under my blogs.
I appreciate the things you notice about my stuff. I usually think no one will"get" something I put a lot of effort into and then there comes Karl.
Having said all that, where would I be without the mind-blowing sculpting talents of Hornet? The resin head beauties that they produce give almost all the emotion to my scenes. I am hard pressed to conform the bodies to the expressions on these little gems' faces!
It is a great time to be a dio builder for sure.
Thanks again pal,

Jerry, you sure pulled this one off! I know you had your doubts about a couple of effects you were experimenting with, but I think you nailed it!

It's been very interesting to see and read how you've connected the history and circumstances of the three different works into a seamless narrative - all parts of the same whole.

All very, very nice, mi amigo. I'm certainly waiting to see what comes out of the "Rutman Workshop" next!

In the mean time, I sure hope that after that trooper gets the grenade around the corner the MG crew recognizes the signal to lift and shift before the final assault...

Thanks ol pard,
I did have my doubts for sure didn't I? As I stated above I think some new stuff worked and some not so much but hey! I surely wasn't bored.
I also can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
Yes,the fires did lift and shift. I read no reports of friendly fire problems at this part of the battle. There was some errent arty fire on the support element though.
The flak was taken out across the road from this barn as well as the Maultier prime mover for a towed 105mm gun, which was hit and burned out while in the process of hitching up the arty piece to remove it before being over run.
There was a report in a recommendation for an award for bravery for one of the paras that some of the flak crew members were takin out with grenades, rifle grenades and a"knife-wielding" para, apparentely with his blood boiling from all the casualties his unit took.
Sadly, google earth showed me yesterday that the fields where the paras advanced under such brutal fire is being covered by construction of an industrial building! Of all the places in the pretty empty ardennes to build on,it has to be built there? Go figure.
Thanks again brother, for staying with this thing till the finish.

Thanks Wally,
One of those great grenades you sent was in the guys hand as well as hanging on all 3 guys web gear.
I wonder if Shep ever looks in on any of these websites? I saw him a few times in Valley Forge but never thought to ask if or where he hangs out on the interwebs

That's some mighty fine job-doing if I ever saw some. Love the guy clutching his rifle in the door way. Good example of what you mean when you talk about the grip. Really great "in the moment" look to this, like a quick snap shot. The candle technique is amazing...I would never have thought to do something like that. Great work all around.

Hi m8!

sorry for being late in this show, but I had a rather troublesome time lately over my chemo!

I'm so glad you finished the project!! It is fantastic! Wall fragments flying around, guy in sheer panic (but clutching the rifle!!), smoke effects, superb ground and vegetation..and not to forget the real story behind you depict up to the detail!!

Great show Sir!!

Congratulations!

Cheers

Thanks for checking in Conor and for the kind words. I had always wanted to try the smoke thing, but either forgot or was too lazy. I suppose this time the stars were in alignment.

Thanks brother from a different mother,
Some words sure flew around during this build, didn't they? Only geeks like us are concerned with the color of our building blocks.
Thanks for the excellent input and the kind words at the finish line my ostereicher kamrad.
Now get well and help me with the next one! But...what?
J

PS,
I now see I passed the ten thousand mark for hits. Thank you all that lurked and didn't speak.

Thought I would include some in progress piccies.

The guys started out with the earlier kahki uniform and I converted that to the M43 ones. Plus some other do-dads and what not like corcoran jump boots, etc.
I did have the guy in the doorway with a helmet, dropped over his eyes like a newbe but decided that expression on the Hornet head was too awesome to cover up.

Jerry,

Fine stuff as usual on your work, I really like the stories that accompany your vignettes almost as much as the actual piece.
As an aside, it was a real pleasure to chat with you last week at AMPS and to catch up, at least a little, about the old Del Val club. It was quite a treat to see some of your excellent dioramas/vignettes in person, especially after following your entertaining updates on this and other forums. Congrats on your awards, they were truly deserved!
Thanks also for your feedback on the entries that I had entered, it was deeply appreciated.
Keep up the great work!!

Hey Lou!!
It was a nice experience for me as well to get caught up on you and Delval.
I didn't know too many people down there at the show so it was nice to chat. I hope I didn't get too long winded as I rarely get to speak with a live person, let alone a fellow model builder.
Your work is looking good and looks like you made a lot of progress from when I first so your stuff at the club. I would encourage you once again to try new stuff to push your limits. And I will try to follow my own advice along with you.
I know I like to settle into a comfort zone.
Thanks again for the very nice comments buddy.

Thanks for the nice words Tao.
The pine branches are made from Plumosa fern that is treated with glycerin. I got them from John Hoenig who is on this site.
