Jerry, you sure pulled this one off! I know you had your doubts about a couple of effects you were experimenting with, but I think you nailed it!
It's been very interesting to see and read how you've connected the history and circumstances of the three different works into a seamless narrative - all parts of the same whole.
All very, very nice, mi amigo. I'm certainly waiting to see what comes out of the "Rutman Workshop" next!
In the mean time, I sure hope that after that trooper gets the grenade around the corner the MG crew recognizes the signal to lift and shift before the final assault...
Thanks ol pard,
I did have my doubts for sure didn't I? As I stated above I think some new stuff worked and some not so much but hey! I surely wasn't bored.
I also can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
Yes,the fires did lift and shift. I read no reports of friendly fire problems at this part of the battle. There was some errent arty fire on the support element though.
The flak was taken out across the road from this barn as well as the Maultier prime mover for a towed 105mm gun, which was hit and burned out while in the process of hitching up the arty piece to remove it before being over run.
There was a report in a recommendation for an award for bravery for one of the paras that some of the flak crew members were takin out with grenades, rifle grenades and a"knife-wielding" para, apparentely with his blood boiling from all the casualties his unit took.
Sadly, google earth showed me yesterday that the fields where the paras advanced under such brutal fire is being covered by construction of an industrial building! Of all the places in the pretty empty ardennes to build on,it has to be built there? Go figure.
Thanks again brother, for staying with this thing till the finish.
