Though it's been a while since one was parked in my garage, I've been thinking about building the Commander Models T18 Howitzer Motor Carriage. I'll mull this over for a bit, but may jump in...

Here's what I'm going with

Dragon Ferdinand and the looks I'm going for is...

Ferdinand with the Pak 44/2 L61. Have a resin mantlet and metal gun but I have the plastic mantlet from a incomplete Tamiya Jagdtiger kit, might use that since so far my experience with resin is little.
Have tons of extra KV bits, so a upgraded T-150 is not out of the question. Trumpy E-50 kit would need some work on the turret and gun, some minor changes to the Amsuing hobby Lowe and VK 3002 DB, switch out the gun on the Hobby Boss AT-1, modding a Heller AMX 13 for the 12T. So many options!

Dear fernanda
The spirit of the campaign is to build you favorite tank that you drive (and post the stats). I think we should ask the others as well, but personally I don't think it's much of an issue if you have not yet played. (Or start playing while the campaign is ongoing.)
I think I'll build the ModellTrans Super Preshing conversion (reviewed it a couple of month ago), and perhaps a few other, braille scale kits I have going.

Come on fellas, let's get this one rollin'!
I've decided to bring this one out, I've given this one some thought for awhile and I decided to go for it and with the rewards card my LHS has, I was able to use my points and only put down $3.22!
Yes, the Tier 9 Medium tank E-50. My base kit, Trumpeter E-50.

Real nice and simple kit. Not to many parts and should go together nicely.

Here we have the E-50 with the stock turret and the 8,8cm kwk 43 L/71. Similar to one of the two guns supplied in the kit. The kit also supplies the mantlet like the one in the game. So that's two guns and mantlets to choose from.

Here we have the Ausf. F turret and the 10,5cm kwk 45 L/52
Have looked her over, I've noted a number of changes I have to make to the kit to represent the in game E-50 (upgraded of course
) but I'll cover them as I go.

One of the kit barrels in the kit, the 8,8 cm kwk 43 L/71, the other barrel is the 7,5 kwk 42 L/70.

Did some assembly of the turret. I was able to modify the 88 L/71 by cutting the barrel behind the collar, for the 105. Compared it to a 105 L/52 from my Tiran-5 and it looks about right. Probably can't tell from the picture but I used mr. surfacer 500 to fill in some seams on the barrel and mantlet, and added some rough texture to the mantlet.

Access hatch for the engine.

In game lay out. Kit part B25 omitted and no latches.

Space at the rear between those to access ports filled, latches on the engine hatch removed and the grab handles made from brass wire added.
Going to fiddle some more with the barrel, and and then work on the bustle (that's the word I'm looking for right?) which I can simply build around the existing turret. While I don't have exact measurements (how could I?) I took some screen caps, resized them to about the size of the kit turret held in front of my screen and used the MK.I eyeball with some aide from my trusty ruler. Comparing it to screen caps from multiple angles I was able to work out some measurement that would "look about right".
Now back to WOT, for some uh.... research. Yeah, that's it, research.......

I'll be getting that new Tamiya M4A3E8 soon so I'll be in with that. I'm also thinking of getting a Super Hellcat.

I'm in just ordered the Fine molds Type 97 Te-Ke form HLJ (man has it come down in price from 8000 yen now 2800 yen).
Yes it's only a Tier 2 tank but it is fun to play and was free with a free garage slot. Will post my stats and photo of the unbuild kit when it arrives.

Rod

Ok guys, this may be a dumb question but what the heck, when I have my vehicle in the garage how do I get the screen shot of it? Tried ALT PrtScn but when I go to post it into a document there is nothing to paste. And is the anyway to get a battel results page back once you have logged off, I did get an Ace Tanker award for the Te-Ke the other day and I would like to use it in a post. Instead of the Garage with the vehicle in it.

Rod

I am thinking about tossing my hat into the ring, but hope that I could get some help on lining up the necessary kit-bash. I would like to do my elite Sherman (tier 5). So I would need to slap a late 76mm turret on a M4A1 direct vision. So, the base kit could be either the Dragon or Tasca (preferably Dragon, for reasons of cost). So, where could I acquire the necessary turret without buying a second full kit? It looks like several Italeri kits would have a proper turret (I know that there are accuracy issues with the shape of the turret, but since I'm building a pink unicorn I don't care about that) and can be gotten cheaply, but would one of these fit the Dragon M4A1 without having to do major surgery? Sorry to interrupt the thread with such questions, but this might be fun if could grab the pieces for the project without breaking the bank.

OK, I started on the ModelTrans SuperPershing conversion.
I wrote a review about it , and I just noticed a glaring issue: one of the turret hatches are not included in the conversion (and are molded on top of the Trumpeter turret).
Photos are incoming.
I'm thinking about buying a loltractor model as well, if I can find one. And a TOG would be glorious.

Great Idea, there are a number of aftermarket Turrets out there, but you may be able to find an Italeri kit for less money than the aftermarket turret.
You don't want a late T23 turret (oval loaders hatch) but an earlier one with the large split hatch and M1 76mm (you will find this type in the Dragon operation Cobra kit or in the Italeri kits).
I think Tank Workshop and or Tiger Model Designs used to make one, I have not seen much from either of these companies lately so I am not sure if they are still trading.
Once again if you are looking at doing this on a budget you may be able to pick up 2 kits for less than a kit with an aftermarket Turret, a Dragon or Tasca/Asuka M4A1 DV (sherman II) and a Dragon Operation Cobra (M4A1 76mm) or Italeri/Ttestors M4A1,M4A2, or M4A3 kit all had the same turret.
Hope that helps.

Rod

Thank you for the pointer to Tank Workshop - they have the necessary turret for the kit-bash (with the large round loader's hatch) and they include an aluminum barrel. I'll poke about and see how cheaply I can acquire the Dragon M4A1...
I usually am not a cheapskate, but I usually build because I am motivated by history and want to learn more about a particular vehicle. Hence, I am somewhat hesitant to sink a lot of money into a purely fictitious variant.

It's going to be a quick build. I hope I can get the DML M6 heavy tank.

Just did a quick search on e-bay and seen the turret listed if your in the states shipping may be cheaper I would offer you one of my Dragon kits but the shipping to the States has just got stupid lately you will propably do better sourseing one in the states or Asia. Good luck Not sure what you use for a callsign on WOT, mine is shermanvc say hi if you spot me on the game.(I have a number of tier 4,5,and 6 tanks)

If you ever see "djohann" in your sights, maybe hesitate for a second before letting me have it (I almost exclusively play tier 5-7). Though I generally love to play mediums, I recently added the T20 and am finding it not much to my liking so I frequently step back to my M4A1 (hence the interest in building it). Good luck to you, sir!
Dave
P.S. Thanks for the link. I had already found this eBay "buy-it-now" and noted that the shipping would be a couple of dollars less expensive than ordering directly from Tank Workshop.

Are these all small scale or do they do anything in 1/35th? Could you imagine a 1/35 TOG it would be huge.

Recently I've grown to like braille scale; I guess I'm impatient for larger kits

I have decided to join. I'll be in with my elite Sherman:
I'll be putting a Tank Workshop turret on a Dragon M4A1 direct vision, but otherwise out of the box.
I'm neither a good builder nor a good WoT player, but what the heck... I'll put my mediocrity on full display for the world.
Dave
Nice one Dave was thinking of that myself. See how the Type 97 goes once I get it, if there is time might do the same.

Ok,I would love to join in on this one, I built the VK 4502 A in the last WoT campaign, but I do not have a Kit for any of the other tanks that I play....
I have a tortoise in the stash from meng, but unfortunately I do not have the torty in game. If actually driving the tank in game is a requirement, then I am afraid that I cannot join you. Dammit, I finished building a mk1 centurion last week, that was the last of the tank models I had that I also have in game....damn my crappy timing!
