Dario, the best references are probably Dr. Rob's books, "Lion and Lioness of the Line", but they're well out of my budget, so I'm working from a Concord book by Steve Zaloga and Tom Gannon's IDF Sherman book, both good sources of pics of what I need.
For refs on the tank itself, it's hard to beat "Son of Sherman", something I did buy, since I build a lot of Shermans.

I had a little tie Friday night, and was able to get the engine decl sorted, painted up inside the rear overhang and installed the exhaust deflector, then went to the turret, using some bits robbed from an old Verlinden M50 turret kit.
Still plugging along.



A few bits on the turret, fender braces, a little bit of stwoage is about all that 's left before primer, I think....

Déjà vu but looks good over here too! Painting this is going to put it on top Russ.

I know exactly what you mean. I'd like to join this one (and probably did but then chickened out) but I am kinda in a query as to what to build.

Did/does the IDF use HEMTT's?

Gotta see about something other than a Sherman or a Merk... an M113 (or a version of it) sounds good.

I don't know... that is one area of the world I do not have an abundance of kits for. Maybe I should just continue to watch.

IDF uses HEMTT's, pretty sure, I've seen a couple built up as IDF vehicles.

I found another couple of little hickies to fix, and I'm here to tell you that Sharpies will bleed through Tamiya primer.

@ Russell, Lovely super Sherman. Will look very nice with some paint on it. What colour will you use for IDF yellow/khaki?

I managed to start the AFV centurion Mk5 Kal S’hot earlier this week… Very nice kit.

Bogies fitted...



installed the five panels that make up the upper hull (engine deck parts, turret ring, drivers hatch, front glacis), and replaced the grab handles with copper wire...



I’m going to use the Lionmarc Centurion Mk5 turret with canvas cover since the kit does not provide one... a canvas cover part, that is.



The only snag is the turret floor that comes with the kit does not fit the Lionmarc resin turret. But with a fair amount of Milliput it all worked out nicely in the end…



And now the fenders, stowage bins and exhausts are attached…

Firstly it is not a Kal Shot or even Shot Kal that you are building, just a straight Shot but this is mostly irrelevant to your build.

Secondly, the turret floor should not sit flush with the casting edge, it should be depressed a couple of mms into the turret, they way you glued it, you will have the turret sitting too high.

Indeed it's not a Kal Shot or a Shot Kal... On the box it is described as an "IDF Sho't Centurion Mk.5, Mk.5/1 1967 early type" And I have the RB model 105 mm gun with fume extractor which were fitted to replace the 20 pounder so it will be at least a Sho't won't it...

Also thanks for pointing out my error with the turret ring being flush with the turret sides. I think I can fix that...

It may be apparent that I'm no expert on IDF armour. It does look cool though...

As to the names, Centurions were called Shot in the IDF since the beginning of their use there regardless of main gun, prior to the Six day war only some of those were up-gunned with the 105 L7 gun. Then the modification program started and IDF Centurions were up-gunned and had their engines replaced with US Continental AVDS-1790 diesel and transmission, which with numerous smaller modifications made them Shot Kals.

Matthew, I'll be using Tamiya TS 46 in a rattle can, over grey primer it gives a nice approximation of the light sand grey in use at the time. I usually follow with a grey wash to shadow it a bit. If Photobucket ever comes up today, I've got pics of an M-50 and M-51 I did the same way.
I like the start on your Cent, and I've heard very good things about the kit too, aside from the missing mantlet cover.....

Nice start (almost finnish) Russel!

Here is my entry. In truth, I've started it last weekend but I have had problems with my camera.

It is an Achzarit OOB, w/o interior.

Here the beast on the box:



I build the lower and upper hulls. The only problem I've see was the tracks. They are short and I needed to use a "plastic extention" on it.

I hated the transparent parts in periscopes and their flaps. I'll paint all of them.

Tamiya TS-46 light sand, lightly over gray primer, a light gloss and Bison decals, copying the markings in Gannon's book best possible. I decided to not use the first aid box on the hull side, but I may come back and add one out of a Tamiya Pershing, looks like the same thing. I've also not added the spare track links on the hull sides, simply because I don't have any, so this tank is a VVSS to HVSS conversion that didn't get the spare links.
Paint is curing after a very light gloss over the decals, with a flat coat over that. Next is weathering and detail painting.

Bit more progress with the Centurion...

The turret issue is now resolved - it no longer sits too high...







Just got to add the transparent parts now. Best get some of that Contacta Clear to stick 'em in place without clouding... And then add the 50 cal and plinth and a few other nik naks...
