Here are better pics. Just have to find the Campaign gallery now. I found one titled IDF Forces, is this the right one?

Beautiful Merk Olivier!

Here's the GWH 1/48 F-15D ready for decals. Given the number of stencils, this could take awhile. Happily I have a few days off.

Cheers Rob.

Wow! Got the bottom of the GWH F-15D decaled. Holy Moley there are a lot of VERY small stencils! And to add to eye strain, the diagram in the instructions is way to busy AND off register! I had to resort to my old IsraDecal F-15 MiG Killers instruction sheet to figure out where things go.

That said, the kit decals are actually pretty good. The formation (slime) lights on the wing tips fit the molded in framing perfectly. But man did it take a long time to do! Not looking forward to the top...

Gotta stop for awhile before I go blind.

Joined up a while ago, but I'm just now getting my bench clear enough to get this campaign entry started:

This is the second Hobby Boss kit I've worked on, and the first (1/35 ZLC2000) turned out pretty nice with only a few mis-marks on the instructions.

A quick look at this kit shows workable tracks, which is pretty cool, I suppose. Should be a fun build.

Watching all the other Merk builds in the campaign to look for areas of concern, etc.

Work continues on the Merkava IIID. Last night while streaming Band of Brothers in the background I was able to get the first two steps completed.

The instructions give you the option of using P/E parts or shaving plastic parts off a kit part. I opted for the P/E parts, fixed to the kit with a small bit of Future (great for attaching P/E parts that don't have any load on them).

Rear left and rear right lower hull photos. Added in just a small bit of Mr Surfacer 1000 on each of the tow hooks to blend in with the hull. Overall fit (to this point) has been excellent.

Drive sprockets, idler wheels and road wheels. All are multi part affairs, with the idler wheels bagged as separate pieces. Probably some of the best I've seen done in plastic ever. Each outer face of the inner half of the road wheels (yeah, if that makes sense) had six smallish ejector pin marks that were easily filed away with a few passes from a medium grit sanding stick.

Four hours of work on this, and I'm only two steps into the build... sheesh.

Not sure definitely, I think I've seen a pic or 2 on google. but I'm putting it on mine anyways, it does make it look interesting.

I had not considered this, when I bought the III. It was on deep discount and a tank I wanted to try my hand at. The droid was the reason for this desire.

That is the thread that interested me, in the Merkava. But, they are discussing a IV, not a III. Still very informative. Thank you.

Is there an aftermarket barrel, for the Merkava 3D? HobbyBoss did not use slide molding and it will be rather difficult to hide the seam.

For this campaign I wanted to participate with some armor and I most likely will but while building something for another campaign I thought I needed some "re-scribing"practice. Going true my stash I found a suitable candidate which could lead to an IDF build,..so for the moment I'm participating with this old Heller 1/72 Fouga Magister.

I continue to be impressed by the great work here! My armor never looks as used as other people's, I just don't have the weathering knack.

The F-15 continues slowly. The number of stencil and panel number decals is mind numbing, as is their size! But I've got the top, bottom, and port side done. One more side and the weapons and then I can finish it off!

Is it too late to start this campaign? I have an F-16 Falcon kit with IDF markings and 3 color camo that's been my stash for 10 years.

The latest update (1/25):

Meng's IDF Tank Crew built up (much better than my other stash alternative - Academy's Israeli Tank Crew) and blu-tac'd for photos. Upper and lower hull joined, but turret halves are dry fit currently. Tracks are built, and halfway through step 12 of the instructions.

Update on the fouga, easy built but the kit is old,.. I'm still in doubt which fouga to buy with so many "new"fouga's coming out.
Anyway the rescribing went ok I guess,..
The old heller kit does need some putty to fill some gaps but it's no big deal.

i made some pitot probes

Some pre-shade

after the first layers of paint

and with some decals

Next the base and some pigments that i will add

Hi all,
What a impressive stuffs. IDF, IAF...

I've started my kit. Compared with Soviet tank:

I assembled the bottom hull mixed with all of the pigments I had. Terrible!

;)

K.

It's raining Merks. I received the droid, today. I'm having a little difficulty, with the etch. I will be replacing the length of the barrel, with tubing to eliminate the seam.

Jan: I'm liking the fouga.
Mr. K: I'd take the Merk.IV over the T-64 any day of the week.
