Hello everyone,
Here is my entry for this campaign, HobbyBoss Merkava IV. I do know of its pitfalls, but it's in my stash and it will get built, and besides, it's the only IDF kit I have so...
I will try and redo the wheel mod to fix this one as I think it's pretty major and since I know about it, it'll bug the hell out of me everytime I look at it! :-)
Cheers,
Christian

was thinking the same thing.Looks like the Merkava factory is working hard those days
Made a brief start on my entry - Caterpillar 349D Excavator @ 48th scale.
I had hoped to use a few more pieces off of the 50th Norscot diecast, unfortunately about the only usable parts are the tracks . So it's time to grab a few sheets of card and some fresh blades and start hacking away.
Just a couple of shots of what I had hoped to use as a base model:
and a link to the IDF excavator thread is in the IDF sub-forum (just messed up the link - sorry) since I haven't loaded the 1:1 photos yet . Will update once it starts the resemble something

all,
Made a brief start on the Cat 349D Excavator, stripped down the die-cast:
and this is all the usable parts left :
Lots to do and keep me amused for a while

Hi Roger,
This is an interesting and uncommon project:
But, maybe I'm wrong: do you have removed the original paint from the finished escavator, right ?
May I ask how i've removed the paint ?

Hi Giovanni,
the paint has been stripped using common paint stripper (available at DIY/Hardware/Paint stores). The best ones are a thick almost gel type.
If you intend to try this stuff Do Not use it on plastic - it melts it.
For stripping paint from the plastic parts I use 'drain cleaner' - a caustic solution.
HTH.

John, nice to see the return of your Cent! I notice you also replaced the grab handles on the engine deck with wire. Nice. How are you going to do your exhaust ends? Vertical, as the instructions suggest? Or horizontal?
Mine is almost there. I just need to finish a commander and loader figures I sourced from a couple of other kits. I hope to post photos soon,
Cheers
