If I had to choose a modern tank, I would take out the Leopard 2A6, it just one sweet peice of equipment, and in my opinion the best tank on the field today.
If I was to choose out of any tank in the world, I would play around with the old T-34's, possibly the greatest tank of all time. Its simple but effective, refuses to quit even when put in the worst weather and conditions you can possibly put it in, and was the first tank to actually scare the technologically superior Germans. Basically its a pig, but a very nice looking one with its sloped armour. As I said, possibly the best tank of all time when all things are considered, so I would have to pick it if I could.

Scorpion / Scimitar for sheer speed and Manouverability.
Challenger II 'cos it's the nastiest thing on the go today.

I would rather sneak up on my enemy,
T-38 would do the trick....
other choices: Super Sherman or Elephant tank - ( always wondered what it would look like in one of those things.)
Why not go for the MK.1 and drive around at 5mph all day, has to be one hell of a ride with no suspension.

Oh Oktober BAD CHOICE....I have been in both the T-55 and the T-62. They are pieces of JUNK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess it depends where you're sitting at the time. The T-62E (my dream tank of the day) I drove in Afghanistan had an old T/54 spider web wheel, partially missing engine deck, no exernal fuel tranks, smoked like one of Marge Simpson's sisters, and had to be yank started by a Kamaz truck because the battery was dead. It was arguably the finest armored fighting vehicle in the country due in no small part to the fact that it ran at all.
It was infinitely more fun than driving a Paladin, one of the most sophisticated pieces of ordnance on the planet.
My new dream ride will be a Centurion.

WW2 - Definately any Tiger or King Tiger Version.
Modern day - Late Model Merkava - I think it is awesome, maybe even any Leopard version.
As for amored vehicles - Definately the South Rooikat 105 and G6 155MM SELF PROPELLED HOWITZER. For those of you who dont know them below are pics.
The Rooikat 105 is designed for high mobility combat operations. It can travel 1,000km under its own power and be battle-ready within 24 hours of departure from the home base. The maximum road speed is 120km/h and the average cross country speed is 50km/h. The Rooikat accelerates from 0 to 30km/h in less than eight seconds.
The G6 155mm self propelled howitzer is a highly autonomous system with 700km vehicle fuel range, 50km weapon range using velocity enhanced long range projectiles and the ability to fire the first round within 60 seconds of the vehicle stopping. The wheeled chassis supplied by Alvis OMC is capable of a road speed of 85km/h and a cross country/desert speed of 30km/h. The maximum gradient is 40%, trench crossing 1m and the fording depth is 1m. The cruising range on one full tank is 700km.

In my case nothing will ever get me back onto an AFV, now that I have grown up................I dont miss the dirt ingrained into my hands, the rash from bathing in oil, Headache from breating diesel and petrol fumes, the black eyes where some clown put grease on the sight head protectors, skinned knuckles from track bashing, sore back from ammo bashing..............I could go on further but you get the idea now as some of them are too disgusting to even remember..
No I am more than happy looking at them and building my models.
If people who had not served on armour actually tried it for a scheme you would find the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

Modern? Leopard
WWII? Toss up between the Tiger (I dont care which) and I know its technically not a *tank* per se, but the Elefant.

That icon of the 20th Century the T-55.
October.
Now,..... lets be realistic,..... I've seen group pictures of Armorama members, and lets just say that along with our receeding hairlines! our next most noticeable feature has to be our expanding waistlines. I for one couldn't get into a T-55 when I was fit as fiddle in my twenties, I tried, with no success,.... would have to dislocate both of my shoulders to get through those hatches!..... these days the only vehicles I'd fit into would have to have to have a complimentary access route..... a Nashorn comes to mind.

Folks, my choice:
WWII: Sturmtiger
Modern Era: Argentinian Medium Tank. Not the best one around, but a powerful one. Here is a pic:

LOL, yeah, I hate to admit it, but I weigh more than I did "back then" too. When I was in the Navy, I wanted to go into Submarines, but on top of being too tall, I was too broad shouldered as well.

Hehehe...John I can relate to that on a parallel after watching the join the infantry ads on TV. Walk up the Brecon Beacons in the rain, hallucinate as you've not had any sleep for three days, be permanently soaked through, crap in a hole then use that weird tracing paper to wipe your bum which makes matters worse, carry kit that weighs more than you cover ridiculous distanceson foot, eat compo that varies between painful constipation or chronic diaeorrhea...and then find out your Rupert has got the whole platoon lost and you're fifteen miles from where you should be and you've run out of water and rations. The Army...It's great! At least in tanks you were dry....LOL

Yeah, I used to run into these Marines, and they would give me all sorts of hell for being in the Navy, but I always figured they were jealous because we had Air conditioning, real toilets, and made to order eggs for breakfast..

That looks more like an artillery wagon than a tank. Sure it isn't some variation of the Paladin?

If you could be on any tank for a day and get to play with it , which one would it be and why ?Mine would have to be the M-103 because it was the 1st US tank with a 120mm main gun . I think it would be fun to shoot a tank like that , no lazer range finder no night sights no thermal imagers . Just you, your crew your tank and your gunnery skills . Now don't get me wrong I love my M1A1 AIMS it is one kick a$$ tank , but I think it would be cool to see what a step back to the early days of tankin' would be like . ( Maybe I stood behind my tank too long trying to stay warm this weekend and inhaled too much JP-8 fumes ) #:-) . Any way just a thought , So dream away and post what tank you would like to play with .
