might not get the exact variant with the kits available, but the artwork is interesting
It seems the only issue would be the Gepard head on the range radar. Otherwise it looks to be close enough to a standard kit and the color scheme should be easy with an airbrush.

I used to enjoy running around the country photographing things, and I forget exactly all the stuff I have in my private photos. (I have around 20K photos taken in the last 15 years)
So, to get on topic, I just (by accident, was just browsing around) found this photo of a AA gun in my archives. I took the photo in 2009, in Piet Retief here in South Africa. (I always geotag my photos, so the location where it is now is correct)
I was wondering if any of you AA experts know anything about this gun? I guess at least the color can't be authentic, must have been repainted at some stage?
I enjoy building models, but I am no historian. So any info would be very much appreciated.

Looks like the ubiquitous 40 mm Bofors.

Ok so maybe a few alterations
The Oerlikons with a couple of bits extra
And i reworked a little of the front end, and tried to make a poor attempt at fixing the drivers hatch cover
plus i re-did the engine grill as i thought it sat way too low. The front fenders arent the right shape but i had a go a re-doing them anyway and putting in a bit of flex as they're supposed to be rubber

On with the Type 45.
The two Rhibs as supplied in the kit.
fitted out with WEM parts.
The lifting cradle for the rhib dropped into place, the etch platform in the fwd inboard corner and it's ladder in place.
The launching crane fitted, the lifting cradle has been glued n place along with the hanger roof and real bulkhead.
More soon,
Cheers

Hi Colin,
Tom's modelworks I believe, will be putting out WEM products, plus "Mad" Pete Hall, WEM's nutty guru of etch is producing his own stuff via his own company "Atlantic Models"
Cheers

I left this thread for a couple of weeks just to return to all these great builds going on. Great job everyone and very motivating, too.
I recently laid my hands on Trumpeter's HQ-2 (SA-2 Guideline license) Missile on Transport Trailer so I was wondering if this is too much off-main-stream for this campaign? It is an AA missile on a transporter so it might or might not fit the subject. What do you think?
Thanks!
Cristian

I won't be able to start on this for the next several weeks but I'm really looking forward to participate here again!

I'm looking forward to getting my build started as well. Unfortunately on hold for at least a month while I pack up the house and move. I'll be enjoying the campaign vicariously through everyone else's builds for awhile.

A really cool part of this is that there are so many variations to things that knock down flying machines. Great variety and great builds all.
Here's mine the recent re-issue of the classic 1956 vintage halftrack. Now the box says it's an M16 but that had 4 fifties. I say it's an M12 which was the twin fifties on the M3 chassis.
This thing flies together one hour session got me this.
Not much suspension but Monogram did get something that Dragon forgot, the hull has screw heads not bolt heads.

More progress on HMS Dragon.
The rear exhaust from the main engines in place.
Painted and it's casing fitted.
One issue with the fit appears to be lock lugs moulded onto some of the components. The process of removal.
The parts fitted to make up the mainmast.
Buy some shares in filler manufactures, I have a feeling I am going to need quite a bit by the time I the main assembly together.
More soon.

The major construction on the Dragon under way.
The rather large foremast.
The forward funnel.
The unusual method of construction continues, the four frames fitted under the deck.
The hull halves and transom on, well nearly.
With the lower hull.
The lower hull fitted, where it touches at the moment. I will let the glue well and truly cure and then try and sort the bow out.
more soon,
Cheers.

Great looking builds, there, Simon.
But wait...the driver's head goes right in front of the radar? Do they have trouble finding volunteers for that job?
