Can you at least say if it's a current US vehicle.. or maybe not US? You do travel a lot, so it doesn't have to be US

It kind of looks like a civilian vehicle's engine.

More guesses...

* Toyota Tacoma
* Ford F350
* SOCOM NSCV armored pickup
* Lenco Bearcat
* Ranger "Peacemaker" armored car
* CUCV
* Jeep Commando SOF vehicle
* Boeing's Phantom Badger FAV

The photos don't match the engines of a Polaris DAGOR, MRZR, or Sportsman ATV so those are out.

Don't tell me it's a Delta Force Pandur APC, LOL!

Looks like it might be "The New Release You Didn't Want" instead.

You mean the SOCOM version. I researched that one as well, having had access to one at Ft Carson used by 10 SFG(A). Those who have my RG-31/RG-33 refererence have the entire walk around for it. It is indeed a rare beast. Good news is it's getting done.
Still, that's not what's in the photo.

Thats the one Bob.

There is a curious backstory to this.... the HEMETT that is stuck is in the parkinglot that my unit had just finished building.... we hadnt yet had the chance to roll it and compact it any..... the interesting thing is that about 2 hours after this, someone located a live mine about 100 feet away from where this happened.

Is it in resin or plastic?

Is it this?

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/235416&page=1&ord=0

Mitsubishi L200 Sportero...your new SOF pickup. Odd...it's a four-door cab but only seats two.

The engine looks kind of Japanese to me.

(Surely it wouldn't be a U.S. Army racecar, stockcar, or drag racer. It IS a military kit, right? I know the U.S. Army puts its logo on racecars, etc.)

I didn't know flat bed RG's were used in Afghanistan. (well presume Afghanistan in the picture)

That is A-stan yes.... they were dragging this beast to the turn- in yard so it was getting prepped to be disposed of or sent somewhere else, but it was most 100% definitely in Afghanistan (FOB Shank), cause my dumb ass was there taking the picture LOL.

Brian can you pm me a list of all the vehicles you know that are in operation in A-stan? I'm really interested in all vehicles and equipment in afghanistan and it be great to hear from someone who was actually there.

It woudlnt really be fair of me to write that list. I am a heavy equipment operator. I only worked at Shank, and was in Bahgram Air Base for a couple weeks, so to profess to know all the vehicles used would be just a lie. I know what I saw at Shank, but thats about it.

Was kinda hoping this thread would die off...

Well, no one is close, but like I said, you don't KNOW you want it. I WILL say this, and I have not been wrong yet: (since I've done the work for everything promised)

You'll be getting another RG-31, and RG-33L, and a Caiman. And a one other I won't even mention yet, lest some of you olders dudes stroke out.

Oh come on Bob, YOU started the thread as a guessing game, with a bit of "I know something you don't know, and I'm not gonna tell you, la-la-la-la-la" mixed in. Don't start with the crap. You're getting exactly what you wanted.

In other words, La-la-la-la-la . . .

OK, if none of us know what that engine photo is, do you at least know when this surprise will pop into the open...November, Christmas, New Year's, this month, or Springtime next year?

rackin my brains on this one cause I swear I have seen this engine before. The aluminum looking shroud for the plastic fan is interesting to note.... as is the large alternator on what looks like a relatively small engine (V-8). Assuming that the yellow mark underneath is either a parking line in a parking lot, or the deck of a ship.
