I applied the "dots" this morning. I was hesitant at first to even do this part because I didn't think I would like the look. But I really like this a lot.

Thank you!

I was looking around at pictures of King Tigers to see if any of them had tarps and such for stowage. I really didn't see any stowage on them. I thought about making my own rolled up tarp to strap across the back of the turret.

Thoughts on that?

I also seen this and thought it would be interesting but maybe I need to work on my first figure before I attempt a handful. Lol!

Dustin

Dustin,

The Camo came out looking great. I don't know if it would be accurate but I think the tarp would look good.

You don't really see that in any photos from the era - German tankers rarely kept stowage on the outside of the tank save in the bins on the sides of the turret or on the fenders you might see on a Pz. IV. If you want to do it anyways - don't put it on the back of the turret - there's a big escape hatch there that the crew would not want to block off.

The Tamiya KT was the second armour kit I ever built. Yours looks much better than mine did! Have fun with it

Rob - Thank you sir.

Scott - Thank you for the kind comments. I do think I'll not add a tarp here. I have other kits that I can do that with, that I've actually seen a tarp on them in a picture.

Dustin

Thank you Lee!

The kit tracks are very old and brittle rubber band tracks. Poor detail.

I bought a set of Tamiya aftermarket indi link tracks, but I may splurge and buy some Friuls since this is turning out so nice.

A bit of detail painting done. A little more to go and then I can clear it.

I've kinda put this on the back burner because I'm trying to get a few models done for some campaigns I'm doing.

I've been using Tamiya Dark Iron paint on the tools and tow cables and I like the looks a lot better than Metalic Grey.

Cheers,
Dustin

Nice progress Dustin. Especially liked the dots -- neither too few nor too much.

Thanks, Tat. I was worried about that. Too few, too many, weird spacing, too big.. Lol.

One side of the tracks on to test fit. I really hate doing tracks.

I really like the looks with no side mud guards.

Dustin,
Very nice looking Tiger indeed! I Agree with you, it dies look better without the guards. It's just that I like to beat up the guards a little...lose pieces....etc.

Thank you, Gary.

I do agree with you on the damaged fenders. I have three King Tigers to build, including this one. So I sat there and asked myself, how can I build these three and have them look different? So I came up with a plan.

Build one with no side mud guards, because I like the look.
Build the second with the fenders and have them damaged and torn up.
Build the third as a fairly new KT from the factory. It has transport tracks so my thought here is that it could be built to look fairly new and clean.

Good plan, Dustin! Dunno if you've seen this, but here are some painting options:

I finally got around to finishing the detail painting. Nothing much to show there, but I did add the wire for the head light. I guess that's my first scratch built item? Hahah

Here I painted it black. It's probably supposed to match the base coat and/or camo. But I like the contrast of it.

Hey fellas,

I did some dry brushing on the turret and on the hull. I also did a filter on the turret only. Can you see a difference between the turret and hull? I can't hahaha.
