Dustin it is coming along great. It is a very clean build and I agree with you about the filter. I have tried them a couple times and I just don't see them.

Did you apply the filter before or after the clear coat. Filters should be applied before any clear coat. Additionally, depending on the "color" of your filter it may take several coats to achieve the desired effect. As your base coat/cammo absorbs the filter you should begin to see some subtle changes in the tone of your colors. Also depends what "color" filter you are using over the base. Like most techniques the use of filters is more art then science and one needs to develop a feel for the thinner to color ratio and what filters work best for a particular base. For example I used a blue filter on a Stryker to give the green a richer tone. Good luck and keep experimenting.

Hey fellas. Thanks for the comments.

The filter was applied a handful of times before the clear. Before I applied the clear, I had this KT next to the newly painted Jagdtiger. You could definitely tell a difference in tone on the KT.

One issue I did have though, the clear did not lay down well over the filter. I'm not real sure why because the filter had probably been on for better than a week. It puddle up real blotchy like water and oil.

What clear were you using? If it was an acrylic and you thinned it with water it may have been thinned too much. What kind of filter did you use, oil based or acrylic?

I think 96 is a good starting point, you can adjust the idler or add or subtract if needed.I also have sized up next to the kits rubber band tracks also.

Hey fellas. Thought I'd give this thread an update. I've completed one side of the tracks and installed them.

I drilled all the tracks and burnished them. All that is left is to install the other side.
Here is what one side looks like. I'm beyond happy with the way these tracks looks. I think I'll try to use these on all my ww2 German armor from now on.

Cheers,
Dustin

Well I'm going to call this done. I decided not to weather this KT heavily, because I wanted a "cleaner" look for a changer. So I gave it a wash, did some light dry brushing and used a new flat clear coat that I really like.

The Friul metal tracks turned out amazing. I've always wanted to try them and I wasn't disappointed whatsoever. They do take a bit of work, but they are well worth the work and price.

So, this is my interpretation of the famous German King Tiger. Not bad for a very old kit.

A view from the commanders copala.

Dustin

Very nice and clean build. I've built the Tamiya kit as well with eduard PE and plastic indy tracks (too poor for friuls.

All in all, it looks great! Well done.

Dustin, the Jagdtiger looks great. I also liked your winter wite wash on the 251. You are doing some great work.
