Hiya Nick , looks like a lot of sun glasses , ........... that's all I got .
Updates are looking great man , keep it up .

Don't know if you've already tried this but ............
Nick if you're working with Plastruct or Evergreen material try using a super fine grit sandpaper and give it a few passes on the to be glued areas .
I find that those types of plastics have a sheen on them and roughing the area up will make glue stick like glue .

Looks to me, Nick, like some wacky art installation from the lobby of the Tyrell Corp!

Go-go dancers in the round balcony?!?!????

Pardon my enthusiasm but EVERY sci-fi B movie seems to have go-go dancers or something more risque tucked away into a little corner somewhere.

Took the words right out of my mouth, Barry! To me the hipster bar structure is reminiscent of an area in Duke Nukem. I can still hear that gravelly voice: "Shake it, Baby!"

Material is used for the go go dancers pantyhose or the dance floor with lighting coming up thru it.

Hi Nick, I think I may be able to suggest a partial solution for a few of your lighting needs... I have an incomplete HO scale project simulating a ghetto Brooklyn NY scene in which I have installed various neon light signs which you may find as an interesting option. The company's brand name is LIGHT WORKS USA sold via website www.microstru.com AKA Miller Engineering. I bought several sets off their eBay store for a discount many years ago. Very, very simple installation and great prices! They offer various scales to fit your needs... Awayway, here's a couple pictures of my other train project and one of the neon lights - GO-GO Girl sign. Hope you find this helpful.

Nick,
I'm interested in knowing more about the corrugated plastic you are using. What is it from and where did you find it? I like what it looks like on the new building.

Hi guys,

well in what is unhappily becoming something of a new tradition, i have another short update....Time hasn't been, and still isn't on my side!

Thanks as always for checking in -

Cheyenne - thanks! yes, I'll be you're right - i will sand the surfaces before attempting to glue things to them!

Matt, Mark, and Ryan - You are each sort of right - - that material (matt) will be used near the cylinder, and (Mark) it will look like an art installation in the tyrell corp HQ - and, Ryan, you will be able to see through it! more to come!

Joaquin - thanks for those ideas! we'll see - right now I'm hoping to use LED's and, until i make it not work, I'll stick with that idea!

Hi Kobus- thanks!

Dave - the wall panel is corrugated plastic I purchased at Blick's are supply - its light and fairly rigid - so, pretty good!

OK - on to a short post - with some not good photos:

And there you see it - the ground floor is held together with tape, but you get the point =

And, next, being inspired by Cheyenne's Public Pool -

My bar needs a bar - and what bar doesn't have beer taps??

And, a bar with six taps!!

OK - thanks for having a look!

Great outcome Nick, it's going to be an amazing display once completed. Can't wait to see it done, thanks for the update.

I don't think the crashed vehicle is going to draw near the level of attention as the pile of plastruct that mysteriously fell from the sky into the street!

Beautifully done Nick , I know how hard it was to make the half round facade piece over the entrance , bracing , alignment , etc. bet you lost a few hairs over that , aint modeling grand .
The bar and taps are very cool , looks like you've got lots of shelves for stock .

Nicely done man , nicely done !!!

So, in addition to liking to build models....it seems more than a few of us enjoy a beer or two now and then!! not that i ever doubted that!

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll make sure you can see those taps when this is done, and, Cheyenne, you are right on each point....ugh!

My strategy for this corner building is to build the shell first - and rough in the interior - really just like making a big vehicle - except, working from the outside in. This is (i think) a product of scale an convenience, unlike an AFV. You'll see below, the building exterior is wrapped up - onto primer:

As you can see above, all three/four stories together - and below, painted up:

Next up: rust, grime and decrepitude! - Once the "appearance" is taken care of, I'll go back inside and tackle wiring and interiors - so far, and for such a (relatively) huge building, so good - despite the somewhat oblique photos, it's actually pretty close to being square, and fairly durable/rigid and not flimsy. I also thankfully sits pretty well on my still to be painted/detailed ground floor.

OK - thanks for having a look!
cheers

Don't worry one bit about the convergence in the photos. I would rather have you spend you money on building materials than a Perspective Correction lens.

That's a lot like Doc Brown apologizing to Marty for his demonstration model's lack of detail and sometimes being slightly out of scale.

Your work is just too cool - MAD SKILLS!

Your mad skills are so evident in everything you do Stick!!! Love the look of this building, and cannot wait to see how you light everything up. I'm so needing to make room for some bench time. This has been such a long summer already, but lurking and watching you and the others here is keeping me in the game vicariously.

Only 107 days left in the golf season here in the G.W.N....give or take. Believe me, it can't come soon enough this year. Open 3 weeks early, and go, go, go, ever since.... I hate when my full time job interferes with my hobbies

As always, keep it in the short stuff Nick! Be seeing ya!

Nick,

I agree with all about mad skills. Two questions on the buildings.

1. How are you bending the piping to get the "C" on the four pipes?

2. Noticed this on building 2, what is purpose for the location of the bends?

Nick, I have been wanting to ask that same question!

Pipes bent in this shape are usually heating pipes or hot pipes of some kind. These bends are to allow for expansion of the metal piping.

My question: How do you get them so perfectly concentric????

Anything I might try would never, EVER be that perfect!

Hey guys, thanks for checking it out!

Mike, Jerry, Dave, and Jacuin - thanks for taking some time to comment!

Mike and Ryan - about those pipes....simply some cool looking, unused stuff from my HO model days! yes - the "c" areas are for expansion - heated, pressurized materials in those pipes!! yes, you can build them though, and get pretty close to those shown - use aluminum tubing, with snug fitting solder inside and bend away! with some practice you can get some pretty good looking
tubing!

OK BIG NEWS: See below!!!

Uhhh...why is the above big news??? see below:

and even better:

And some from the outside:

So, you can see where this is headed - only rough in wiring -so, i cant show all the lights working together just yet...

A few more:

You can see above, the building with some weather....

And there you have it! minimal pain with the wiring - we've got a good old electronics shop nearby and the guy was nice enough to tell me how to make this work - and, how to solder! its getting there!!

Thanks for checking it out!

What can I say man? I don't even feel competent enough to make a comment at this point. It is very very cool. What no cleavage on the bar maid though?
