Thanks Pete - that is great news!
I am also waiting for Michael Goldberg who is progressing on his SINCGARS set over at Shapeways. Looks very good. Keep fingers crossed.

Coming together!

F.Y.I. - I have since taken the thickness of a saw kerf out of the center of the winch drum. The drum is now significantly narrower than shown here.

Nice work on the winch. I need to make couple off these for a hmmwv and a M-ATV. It would be nice if these kits had all the parts within them. You would think they include these small details when taking references for kits from real things.

It is still coming along great. The winch looks nice. Work continues on the PLS. I should have some more pics up soon. I had a hell of a time with the open hinges on the lifting arm for the hook. I ended up cutting off the ends and replacing them with resin scraps, drilling holes in them, and pinning the hinges to the base part so it is secure and doesn't slide out of the slots.

The Italeri M978 Fueler has the winch. Trumpeter's M983 also has the winch. It was only the Italeri M977 cargo truck (which the Italeri M1120 is based on) that did not, because the basic cargo truck in 1:1 did not normally come with the winch either.

Gino's right- I remember seeing the parts for the winch in my ITALERI M978... I have the BEAUTIFUL aftermarket resin updates by PRO ART for the Cab Interior and Fuel Delivery System, the DEF "Sagged" HEMMT Wheel/Tire set, and I also have all the EDUARD PE for it...

I also have the BEAUTIFUL aftermarket resin updates from _________ (I forget the name of the company that went out of business) for the Cab and Fuel Delivery System
Pro Art was the company. They had some really nice HEMTT update/detail sets, along with other sets that were really nice. Their SINCGARs set was very nice.

(Photo from Oshkosh website - used here for discussion purposes only.)Anyone know of other currently available 1/35th scale models or wheel sets that would provided the necessary Michelin 15.5 / 80 R20 Pilote XL tires needed for the M1076 PLS trailer?
Gino - would the Legend MRAP resin tires be right for this?

The M923 big foot tires would work I believe.

That is what I was thinking too. They should work perfectly.

Aren't the Big Foot tires a shade too small?
I think the Big Foot tires are 14 R20's and the tires on the Flatrack trailer are 15.5 / 80 R20 XL but maybe close enough is good enough!

The MaxxPro MRAP tires seem to be a tad too big; 395/85R20s. In 1/35, either would probably work though. Planning on building it?

Definitely looking to put together the necessary references and considering trying to go for the trailer. (Also gives me something that might qualify me for the "Truck/Trailer" campaign.)
The DEF resin tires offered for the Big Foot are certainly looking good for this project!

Real Model Michelin tires look like that altho the Michelin has been taken off.
I got my M983 and the first thing I did was take two air brakes out to make copies.
Cheers Rob.

Put the finishing touches on the winch tonight.

Painting and cabling up next.
* When I saw these photos I noticed that the top right mounting patch plate on the winch was crooked. The glue was still soft enough that I was able to fix this problem before it set up permanently.

Nice job. The winch came out looking great. I may add the winch to my PLS since there is one in the Trumpeter M983 kit.

Thanks man. I like the way the winch adds additional complexity to the overall vehicle. I think it would do the same for your PLS. And unlike the old WWII vehicles the modern hydraulic winch is an easy add without the need for PTOs and all those connecting driveshafts.
Really glad you were able to shoehorn in the MHC crane. Now that's more of the complexity I am talking about. Looks great!

The latest arrival from the US Post Master:
Love those Voyager rear view mirrors with the wide angle mirrors" I especially like that the set includes silver inserts to represent the mirrored glass. I know this set is officially for the M1078 but hey, same mirrors and lights! No problem.
