Trumpeter had greatness in their grasp but instead settled for just an incremental improvement.
The CHU and associated equipment would be a great candidate for a follow-up kit to the LHS. (Just like Tamiya did with the anchor recovery plow for the Famo - even though they left out a major part of that set-up!)
A follow-up kit would keep the initial sale price down a bit and in the end make Trumpy more overall profit. So there is still room for hope!

Another thought: maybe there is an A4 in our future and they are holding off offering the CHU to include with that model.

The kit includes all the parts for an M1120 LHS. It has all the parts from their M983 kit, so you can build an LHS from it.
Sorry to ask such an obvious question, but if I combine the THAAD kit with the new sprue from the Italeri M1120 LHS that contains the "rack" (or whatever it's called - sprue "F") that I could replicate the M1120 LHS that is the subject of this thread?

Being old and cynical I suspect you are far too optimistic :-)
But it's nice to see hope.
BTW I'm sorry if this is old info, but while re-reading your excellent thread I wanted to make sure you checked out the container decals from Minimanfactory. If you mail them directly they will sell you just the decals from their 20' container ( http://www.minimanfactory.com/en/20ft-iso-freight-container-i28/).
I bought a couple of sets and they are very nice.

That is why Gino keeps prodding Mike Goldberg to create them to accompany his 3D printed CHU.
As to ordering separate container decals from miniman factory I have been remiss (and also my interests for the moment have moved elsewhere.) I continue to be surprised that someone is not already selling decal sets for the containers given that the two main hobby manufacturers offering the containers offer such a limited choice in markings.

Exactly. Just leave off all the THAAD parts and changes to the truck and add the basic HEMTT parts and you will be good.

Ok thanks! So are you planning on using a CHU on your fine M1120 LHS? If so, will you replace the guides or have some sort of way to "hot swap" them so you could show both? Or perhaps use the CHS on another vehicle?

It does seem like a missed opportunity. I wonder if potential licensing issues are to blame?
I'll also note that while the folks at Miniman were very nice and helpful, I'd only know to ask about the decals because of what I've read here. The set is harder to order than it needs to be.

Thanks! I really should have simply sat down and googled about the THAAD - I didn't realize it was so close to a M1120. Looks like removing the fenders and outriggers at the end and you're mostly there.

That and a few other parts. Mainly the stuff on the right side front fender (THADD control box and APU) needs to go and be replaced by the HEMTT spare tire holder. Put the standard fuel tank back and remove a few pieces off the right side of the frame (storage box and a few guage panels) and you are good.

Regarding my CHU it will go on my experimental Oshkosh 8x8 LHS (alreadt built) and I intend to scratch build the guides and install them permanently in the deployed position to accept the container.

Tom, I have built both - they are somewhat different in their construction but both about equal in quality and ease. To me the real complaint is the limited decal choices offered. I do hear the manufactures are now offering more choices these days so you may want to check this before you take the leap.
I just checked the web and neither manufacture mentions new decals. Italeri has two offerings/different boxings; one a civilian container with decals marked for "China Shipping" ONLY. Then they also offer a seperate military boxing that contains US Army, USMC and Italian Military markings. To my knowledge the Trumpeter offering comes with civilian "China Shipping" decals ONLY!

Somewhat impatiently waiting for a PLS and a new HEMTT A4 to hit the market.
I understand about the A4 (Trumpeter has to recoup the mold cost of doing the A2 first.) but cannot really comprehend why no one has yet to offer the PLS???

Michael, you are right, more variety is always better (like with icecream...)
But it seems to me, like especially Trumpeter seems to have "seen the light", as they continue to bring out new variants of the HEMTT (Thinking of the M983/M870A1 trailer combo and the one with the radar trailer)

The MMK M1076 kit is a very nice kit overall.
I choose to buy the kit with trailer, the M1 flatrack and four large wooden boxes.
You get a lot of resin with this combination :-)
