No, I'm afraid there wasn't...Shame, it would've looked cool.

I'm a massive fan of any unusual IDF vehicles and these pictures are great.

OK, ReluctantRenegade, here's a couple for you,
Guardrail on Achzarit...
Engineer Achzarit...
PUMA with Drakonit, Norchi, and "carpet" system at rear...
and, my fave, Doobi with mine plow
I'll post more as I find them. I've seen a mine plow for the D9 in 1/72 scale, where the plow resembles that on the M1 breacher vehicle, but to date, have not seen a photo of this.

More great photos! Keep them coming!!
The engineer Achzarit is known as a Hatap - Model Minatures did release one in 1/72 and I did try to convert the Meng kit to make one in 1/35:
Some more pics here of my build:

The word "engineer" is a bit misleading in this case, since these (and similar) vehicles are not operated by the combat engineers (חיל ההנדסה הקרבית, Chel HaHandasa HaKravit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Engineering_Corps), but by ordnance troops (חיל החימוש, Chel HaHimush https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordnance_Corps_(Israel)), even though they can by classified as "engineers" since their duty is to repair and recover.

A D9's towing a damaged Merkava hull (probably a 2D) during the 2006 war. All the damaged heavy equipment was recovered and returned to Israel.
I'd classify that one as a bit more than "damaged". IDF got hit pretty hard in that conflict by ATGM's. Great pictures on this thread, thanks for posting all of them.

Actually "HATAP" (HTP) isn't a name of this specific "Achzarit" variant, but rather stands for "Hulya Technit Plugatit" which roughly translates into Company(level) Technic Crew/Staff. Usually one such vehicle/crew (which includes mechanics, electricians, weapon specialists) serves a squadron of tanks, or in this case, a squadron of "Achzarits". An "Achzarit HATAP" would not be manned by infantry like the ones it's supposed to serve, but by Ordnance Corps troops.

Hi all,
Hay Nagmakava, how would you rate the Model Minatures stuff, as I'm contemplating doing the same as you have. Nice build, by the way.
Kylie
Hi Kylie,
The MM stuff is always great quality and they have loads of IDF subjects. The Droid kit that they also sell is also excellent, so I'd definitely recommend them.

Great photos, thanks for posting.
Love the IDF use of older tank hulls for other purposes, just shows that with work an old Centurion (70 years, since first service) can still give service.
Oh dear, thinking about an IDF SPAA has given me an idea. Fictional but possible.

The "Shot" was chosen over the "Magach" as the base for the different "Nagma-" conversions because it has a tougher suspension at its superior armor. Early heavy APC conversions based on the "Magach" (a few that did enter service) proved to be vulnerable to IED's and were quickly phased out.
With so many early "Merkavas" in storage around their days are (unfortunately) numbered though...

Not really "Heavy Metal", but a RAM based AA system does exist.

A few IDF related articles, mainly about the "Pereh". Even though the first video is in Hebrew, it's still worth to watch. The officer's turquoise baret and the Artillery Corps insignia are a clear indication that these vehicles are not operated by the Armored Corps. Note the vehicle behind the officer: that's how they look like on the field...I wouldn't worry about the exact shade you use for painting IDF AFV's...
