Karl, that is some beautiful work, conjecture be damned!
Glad to see your progress.

Are you aware or enlisted in the Hangar Queen campaign over on the Aeroscale part of the site?

One campaign per build, but another place to showcase old stalled builds.

Thanks, Mike! No, I'm not familiar with the Hangar Queen campaign but it sounds like something I should check out. 90% of the time I'm an armor guy, but right now I've actually got 3 aircraft going and no tanks(!?). I can't recall anything like this before for me.

just a small update did a pin wash on the panel lines, painted the M2, stowage, pioneer gear, and extra wheels. I still need to do some touch up and add the archer decals I got for this guy.

Gary -

Hope it isn't too late to jump on board. It has been quite a while since I've done or found the time for much serious modeling, and I'm very anxious to get it going again. I've recently 'Retired' from Boeing after 28 yrs and finally can dedicate time to the hobby and relax, enjoy it like in the past. Anyway, I thought this would be a great Campaign to get myself back into it and complete several 'in limbo' builds I've got. I have several to choose from and I'd like to focus first on those I have set up in dioramas that require finishing. I wasn't sure if they would qualify. They're basically single builds with figures and bases that need completion for either the kits, figures, and/or display base. Really looking forward to being active on Armorama again and enjoying builds in future. Bring on the Campaigns!

There is no limit to when you can join a campaign. In particular, this campaign (as well as Aeroscale's "Hangar Queens" and Model Shipwright's "Dry-Docked" campaigns) lasts the whole year. These campaigns are pretty much annual. We all have unfinished models!

Don't forget to enlist here.

For my first entry, I'm planning on completing my Winter Eastern front 1944 diorama that has been sitting idle in a back room. The first photo is the 'inspiration' I used for the diorama to show a Tiger1 (Mid) from sPzAbt.505 preparing for a Winter defensive position. The next photo is the Tamiya Tiger1 (Mid) used and will have added a crew from various figure sources such as Tahk, Jaguar, Verlinden and various others (still deciding). I'll finish up the Tiger and then complete the base in the Winter defense theme.

A few more of the build and were it stands. What was a green camo has now turned to a desert scheme. Still need to do antenna's and a few more bags. The decals were a nightmare as they were silvering bad. Compared to how it was, I am much happier.

I decided this campaign would give me the push I required to finish an M60A1.

I started a USMC M60A1 with ERA in NATO camo. After a bit I decided to fill the ERA mounting holes and back date it a bit, but retain the NATO tricolor finish. That bit of indecision as well as all the work correcting the ancient Tamiya kit, stalled the build for half a decade.

Then I remembered one of my all time favorites, MERDC Gray Desert. That and this campaign got this one back on track.

We begin.

What I started with.

Finally assembled the dreaded road wheels.

Turret and it's mods. Yes I realize I initially used the wrong air cleaners. They were too well cemented to the fenders to remove.

Primer finally. Good old spray bomb Krylon Gray.

Base color, a mix of MM Acryl colors.

Stay tuned.

Here's my Challenger 2 turret as it sits. I will add a couple of subtle filters and start the weathering, this evening. It looks black, in the photos but is rather a dark, bronze green.

There is little flash and everything fits together very well. So far, my only problem has been with the return rollers and mating the hull halves together. To be honest, I don't remember how I built the rollers. The problem, with the hull are the etch mud guards. They don't fit, with the lower hull.

Does anyone know if the British still use camouflage nets, when the Challenger 2 was in service? I have a stockpile of Verlinden stuff I would prefer to use, rather than having to order some.

Another shot of the build. It needs a lot more finishing for me. The windows, antenna, rear track, rear wheel, top machine gun, decals, ammo cans, and extra tracks, just to name a few.

I still have another Abrams needing finishing, and last night while pondering, I went looney and ordered two more Abram tanks. doh!

I have an idea for what might be the first style attempted on here. At least while doing searches I am not seeing anything nor in google. So cant wait to show that idea. Plus it will put two different versions in the stable.

I love the academy abrams because you can grab one for $25 on amazon and it lets you build fast so you can get to painting to try ideas and techniques.

Mrclark7 - That is one impressive Abrams.
AgentG - The Patton(forgive me if this is incorrect) looks like the kind of build I enjoy. I too use putty to represent cast surfaces. I look forward to the build phase coming to completion.

I have a small update. And, this is about as far as I can go, before I find the rest of the parts. Should be back, at it in a few weeks.

I managed to get my Tamiya Tiger1 (Mid) finished up and the pieces together to complete the diorama. It shows a Tiger1 of sPzAbt.505 on Eastern front, late Winter 1944. Crew is prepping for expected Russian counterattack.

Next up for 'Unfinished 2017' project is to finish up a Tamiya PzKpfw IIIL of Afrika Korp.

Nice progress gents! Here is mine where I am just about finished with the build stage. A ton of parts went into this tiny little TD.
Will begin the painting of the upper structure, gun and tracks separate of the body then bring everything together for the final camo and weathering.

Got a little work in over the weekend. The Amiot's gondola is finally starting to take shape. The navigator's seat, map cases and folding chair were positioned in place; the pilot's position with the secondary (lower) control got some attention, as well. When it's cemented into place, the secondary wheel will fall into position in front of the navigator's seat. On to scratch building the rest of the interior!
