LOVE that Chieftain^^^

I spent about 8 hours total so far on this one. It's a really easy kit to get together--the fun will be the paint and weathering!!

Not made up my mind on that one yet. Khaki and British, or German and buntfarbenanstrich. Either way, it will be very, very dirty.

I built it as the hermaphrodite version, so historical accuracy is right out, and the fun-times are in!

Dustin-Good choice. Goes together pretty well. Only tricky part I found were the headlight guards, they are a bit fiddly.

Aren't they always? IM are too thick, PE are too fiddly, stowage and sandbags make them juuust right

here is my entry for this campaign, a Leopard C2. I am building it hoping that it will be ready for CapCon 2017 here in Ottawa. I have built the C2 MEXAS and really enjoyed it, so I'm guessing this one will be the same! :-)

Change of plans, or another kit I want to build! Sort of lost my mojo on the T-55 while making, and waiting for the 3D printed parts I'm doing, so decided to work on this one. The T-55 will be worked on as well as both are part of the scene I have been thinking over.

The model is simpler than the Meng pick ups, but is detailed enough for what I have planned. I was warned about the body, and this is because the box is not large enough for the kit and the body gets pressed down to fit.

My Mk IV made it into the prime and paint booth today. Primed with Mr. Surfacer 1500 (PIA to airbrush), then a black coat with Tamiya NATO black, mixing the white now for the pre-shading, then will apply the primary color later tonight.

I decided on a British khaki version of this one.

That is simply appalling considering the day and age we are at with modelling - the box is too small!!!! Unacceptable.

ANd base coats down, all mocked-up with the tracks on. Tracks were primed black, then hit with a coat of Humbrol's Track color.

Next is detail the guns, paint the red and white ID markings, rust the exhaust and glue it up, then a post-shade with Tamiya's Smoke. Then it'll get sealed and move to weathering!

Just thin down some smoke, and spray it along the panel lines/shadow areas. It's an exaggerated effect (or can be) that I've borrowed from painting aircraft panel lines. You weather over the top of it. It'll really lend itself well to this particular build. Sooty, dirty, sodden, muddy, and mean.

If the box was 1/2 (12.5mm) longer or taller the body would be less prone to warping. I have Trumpeter trucks that have a protective box around the cab. That would have saved the body.
