Paul,thanks for joining in the fun here, I hope I can keep your attention brother !
Here is my pensionier,almost finished with putty and sanding so you can get the idea before he has gotten paint slathered on. I couldn't decide on any specific country or unit so I made him kind of generic empire period with a mix of new style and older style clothing,as befitting a man on half pay.
This one is rounding the corner and headed home.

Great job of conversion, the 'old soldier' is coming along nicely. His own mother wouldn't recognize him now. Al

Wow! I don't even recognize the "old man" head from Hornet now that you've sculpted his eyebrows and moustache.... incredible work Jerry! At any scale, but most assuredly at 35th scale the work is worthy of praise.

Can't wait till you layer on the paint! This is going to be epic.

Sorry for the delay in answering as I was out of town for once attending the annual AMPS convention in Conn. It was close enough to drive this year so I felt compelled to go.

Thought someone would like to see how I make the oak branches. Small roots for the branch and paper cut leaves glued on one by one.
Tedious yes,but it satisfies the same way owning a bonsai tree does I suppose !

Nice foliage! This reminds me of a tree you built a few years back - I can't remember which build tho...perfect! Really nice work. I suspect this starts off fairly slowly, and then moves reasonably fast once you develop the best process that can be duplicated? That is, to figure out how to not need a third hand (one for the stem, one for the tweezers and leaf, and another for the glue! Haha) and once you have that done you can move right along....looks good.

Hi Jerry - wow! This turned out really well - the whole composition is really nice - ok - that's a bit vague. I think the way you have mixed rustic textures, surfaces, foliage and subtle colors is great - and that subtlety is not all that easy to do! What can be said about the figures - as always, you make the little plastic folks come to life! And, as I said before, I like to see some variety in subjects and approch to techniques and colors.

I think the work and ideas presented could easily be translated into other subjects and eras - if you're not into the whole pastoral thing, you could pretty easily picture a patrol resting, sneaking around, or defending this spot - and you could equally easily see a jeep, HMMWV, morortcycle or halftrack parked or positioned nearby - or, enjoy it as is!

As to popular or not - I don't know...I've been really tied up with my job in the last few months and haven't had all that much time to comment, post etc - maybe the same for others too? I've got some time this AM before I walk to the bus, so I can write. The forum has been a bit sleepy this spring - no problem! Folks are just resting up for a big summer!

I think it looks great, but civilian things tend to have less appeal.

My Mother raised chickens for the eggs, and the only thing I see is the lack of mess. Chickens are very messy, and they will strip an area down to bare dirt rather quickly.

I like the old soldier, sitting back dreaming of the good old days.
