My entry is the Panzer IV Ausf. D Tropical, Dragon kit #6779. The tracks for this kit is pretty sad so I have a set of replacements on the way plus I will add a few more storage items to the outside.

Hmmmm 🤔 ... Now that I see soft skins beginning to kick up a little dust around here, I’m wondering if the Mirror Models ‘CMP Chevy C60L GS Truck Cab 13’ might be suitable for this campaign … and would a captured version make any sense?

Cheers!🍺

Mark,
Can't have a Panzer-related campaign without the workhorse of the Panzer divisions. What kind of tracks came with the kit, DS or indy links on a sprue?

Mike,
I have AK Interactive's book D.A.K. Profile guide which shows a lot of Allied stuff being used after capture. Austin, Bedford, and Morris... Then again, everyone was using anything that they could keep running, so Beute it up!

Hi All,

I am in with a Captured AEC Armoured Command Vehicle. Looks like a great kit and it comes with the decals for all three used by DAK. I still haven't decided which to build.

Robin,
Thanks for the giggle... I didn't realize until I read it the second time that you had typed 'beuteful'

Mike, the Cab 13 type didn't enter production until late 1941, but seeing as we have extended this out to the Battle of Gazala, June 1942, I'd say you are safe to join (besides which Gaz just wants to see people build models and have fun, so he is a generous campaign leader )

Did some research on the CMP's when I was looking at getting a kit. The more I read, the more I realised how many variants there were and how important this simple vehicle was. I never decided on which kit to get, so I have retained the info for future use..... in case one turns up at the annual PX or other swap meets.

Hi Nate,

I have this kit in my stash and will really be wanting to see how this builds up. Good luck with your build!

Hi Guys, I have a few things to finish on the bench before building begins. Bought the kit online for a steal. I can already feel the sand between ..........

Here's my start. Tamiya's Matilda II. I know I will have little to no bench time this week, but maybe I'll get something started.

@Joe - I was started to build the same Tamiya Tractor - Dragon 25 pounder combo years ago. I got stuck on constructing the limber, it had some fit issues. I actually just pulled the kit out and looking at it, I think it will just take some light sanding to get together. The detail is very nice! Very curious to see how the Mission Model paints work out for you. Since they have the caunter colors I might go the same route.

Cheers,
Nate

Hello friends,
Here is my entry... When exactly I'll start it is still a question but it will be sooner than the finish date

@Nate - which limber did you have the issue with? The Dragon or Tamiya version?

Thanks guys!

Since I’m so terrible at timelines, I strongly rely on you and your expertise to help me get things right.

So here we go — my Mirror Models (35161) 'CMP Chevy C60L GS Truck Cab 13' (captured, most likely).

Just to satisfy my curiosity, do you know if the following kits are candidates for this campaign’s timeframe?

Dragon (6642) Pz.Kpfw.III (5cm) Ausf.H
Dragon (6431) Pz.Kpfw III Ausf.N sPz.Abt.501 Afrika
Dragon (6828) German 3t 4x2 Cargo Truck w/ 2cm FlaK 38
Italeri (0216) Kfz.305 Opel Blitz, 3Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck
Riich (35011) Universal Carrier Mk.I w/3 Crew
Tristar (35049) Fieseler Fi 156 C-3 / Tropical Storch

Cheers!🍺

The Pz III N would have been a bit late for the time-frame of this campaign but was in Tunisia for sure.

The rest would have been there. Some more than others.

Mike,
The only one that I'm certain doesn't belong is the Pz IIIn. The Pz IIIh is definitely in. Truck types aren't really my forte.

But I'm sure if you select any but the IIIn, you'd be safe... Or at least able to ride on my lack of knowledge.

I had a few hours tonight to devote to modelling, so I made a start on my A13. I am beginning with the running gear, although I could have detailed the turret. The S-Model running gear is meant for quick-build wargamers and although well detailed it lacks the groove between the road wheels, sprocket and idler. The Dan Taylor's Modelworks set rectifies this. First a look at the task ahead...

I began by sanding the sides of the lower hull to reduce the thickness where the photo-etch side piece goes...

THe photo-etch prepared...

I then glued the photo-etch to the sides, I normally use thick CA to position a big piece like this and then run thin CA around the edges to fill the gaps by capillary action...

I am sorting out the running gear and using the S-Model track, but that was it for tonight, more to come. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

All the best,

Paul

Paul,
Thanks for the quick start and update. I find it interesting that they've gone to such effort to add detail for the gaming community.

Paul,

That PE really does enhance your A13.
