Thanks Champy, I LOVE the tricolor turret markings! No question, the PE mesh looks much better than the kit plastic part. Did you add cooling gills under it? How many? I thought there might be two but my source material was far from definitive. The fag in the hand of the figure is a great period touch.

Bit more progress to report…

Have made a small cobble street base and MiniArt lamp post.

All figures are primed as is the Schneider CA1.

BTW I still need to add the wine bottle to two of figures...

And the figure nearest the front of the Schneider needs a little more adjustment. His left hand is floating mid-air when it should be making contact with the tank. Also might add some breast pockets to his shirt....

By the way, does anyone know what the name of the cap is in Spanish? I presume that that kind of cap with points front and back has a particular name...

Might just finish this campaign!

Cheers

Excellent figures, Matthew

Very nicely coordinated scenario too.

Look forward to your getting some paint onto them all

I need to get my AB station sorted this weekend too

Thank you, Steve. There's still some work to be done, but I'm quite happy with how they've turned out so far. I plan to add the celebratory elderly gent from the MiniArt French civilians set to to the scene. The one with arm raised and fist clenched - langa vida a la republica. Just need the kit to turn up in the post... And then I really need to start painting.

How are your figures coming along, to accompany the panzer I?

Cheers

Thanks! No I just sprayed the internals black and left it at that, it was a bit of a pig so I was happy to see the end of the kit!

The figures really help understand the scale of the Schneider. I did not realize it was so small. I have one of the kits but still in the box.

Hello,

Have laid down the paint. I tried to modulate it. You can’t tell from the photos, but it does look better in real life.

Next up: paint tracks and details, add the UGT graffiti, pin wash, subtle drybrush, add dust…

Cheers

Bit of an update now it’s in the painting phase.
Red over grey primer

Black primer followed by black basing with a mix of XF-23 and H323

At about this point I’ve done a blend coat which I’ll leave and comeback to If I think it needs more.

@ Steve, don't stop now. Finish line is in sight... I'd be interested to hear how the AK Spanish Civil War set goes on through an airbrush.

Cheers

Keeping the faith, Matthew:)

I am hoping to get this one done in time, I have the figures underway but I shall focus on the Breda first.

The SCW paint set went on well, I just did a really poor job of it.
In my defense, its the first outing for my H&S for nearly 2 years and the garage AB station needed some work to just get it to this

Not that good, but it is the base coat with a further 2 colour camo which I will attempt to hand AB rather than mask as the Breda is so small and has so much fine detail on it.

The Stug III G 10.5, I did next was better, but I'm still rusty!
By the time I get to the SturmTiger prototype, I hope to be back on something like reasonable form again!

The figures are from these sets along with the figure in the greatcoat that came with the the Tristar kit.

They all match the reference photo reasonably, but on the back burner until the Breda is completed.

More soon?

A quick update

Disappointed with my very poor AB camo,
I Will have to sharpen it up by brush, not what I really wanted, but it will have to be done!
Spent 1/2 a day testing, practicing from 3 bar to 2 PSI the AK SCW colours straight from the bottle, with a drop of flow enhancer.
Could be the weather, but I think it is me, the H&S had a 1 mm needle, and was stripped and cleaned 4, 5, 6 times during the session.

Here it is, sorry if the following images offend, they don't please me that much!

Pigments applied to the undercarriage

More when I have sorted out the camo, added the decals and got the wheels and tracks sorted and added

Soon? who knows?

I just had a look at the calendar and see that we are only a few weeks from completion of our SCW campaign. Yikes! How are your projects coming along?

I have been dinking around with the Tamiya Jeep for the Jeep Campaign, one I completely missed the deadline on but will finish just for the pure joy of building.

The Italeri/Zvezda BT-5 for this campaign is still snailing along. The last construction on the tank itself was adding speculative cooling shutters out of brass sheet. Next will be prime & paint.

I finally got into the Spade Ace tracks and they are very slow going. They do not (of course) fit the kit sprockets and one of the white metal track parts actually broke through its thin little hinges while trying a test fit. I have some debonder someplace and it is time to find it and remove the broken part & the pin and try it again.

At least two of the drive pins will have to be cut away from the drive sprocket and part of the tracks themselves may need trimming to fit around the idler wheel. I'm getting my money's worth of fun & games with this on!

Steve - What was it that offended your eye? Did you want sharper definition between colors? The colors themselves look quite nice.

Well, I sure made a bonehead move with the tracks! The Spade Ace kit came with no destructions and in my hurry to get this stalled project underway I engaged Charge Mode without engaging the brain. I built a run of tracks without the plain links in between. Oh well, get out the debonder again . . .

Tough break with the tracks Paul
I guess that's why we all have a bottle of de-bonder collecting dust on our work benches!
Hopefully it will work out and get you back on "track"
The camo should be hard edged but I really didn't want to brush paint it, but my micro AB work is almost non existent at best
I have watched the DVD again and doubt I would master the skill before the deadline
So dig out the brushes and back to it

Best of luck with the tracks

Thanks Steve, I am indeed back on track with the tracks. It took several evening work but last night two strands got started and now the fit the kit parts perfectly. Other parts are getting painted so the project is moving along.

I used a product called Panzer Putty on a Polish 7TP to get a fine but not hard edge to the three tone scheme. It worked well but has a learning curve.

Thanks Bob, I do not know about these decals. My project markings are decided but we may well do a second campaign at some point in the future and more choices would be better. I look forward to your review!

But she does look a little better all brushed up

More soon?

And the Stug III G 10.5 and SturmTiger next?

Well, I’m calling this done and sticking it on the shelf next to its buddy. I'm glad I found this campaign before I got to far into this build, and it's helped me focus on getting it finished as well as being great to see what everyone else is up to.
Thanks and regards.
