Well done Peter. Extra effort on details really make a difference.

Peter,
Great looking AFV. I agree with your reasoning on the weathering, looks like it had a nice work out on the test range. Those Archer Resin transfer are very nice. Use them all of the time on my Sherman's. Only wish they had a generic sheet of numbers and letters.
Again, great work.

If you need an extension on the deadline, let me know.
I have my Matilda well along but will not make the gong. An extra week or so would be very helpful!

Thanks. While I'm confident I would have had my Vickers done by tomorrow, the extra time does give me a chance to weather and make a display base for it.

Thanks for the extra time, it will ease completion of Matilda.

I gotta agree on the Valentine, very convincing!
In all the hurry to get Matilda hurrying along I have neglected to post any pictures of the progress. Here are a few showing some of the work done.
I tried something new here, Krylon Almond paint. It is very pale and matches the tonal look of the photos from the time & place. I thought it a shade too pale and used a yellowish brown filter to shift it slightly. Also, Tamiya missed out the fuel filler detail on the fuel tank so I added detail that looks something like the pictures of the preserved examples.
More later!

Looking good Paul. Coming along nicely. Interesting choice in colour - it works though.

Mr K, fantastic work on your Challenger. Looks really good.
Got some photos of my completed Vickers this afternoon, but having trouble getting into the galleries to upload the photos.
Keep getting 'server busy' when I click on it, been like it for hours. Anyone else having issues?

Thank you Stephen.
I saw the same message, but not after about 5 minutes. I really don't know.

Looks fantastic Mr K. Another nice one for the collection.
The servers have been playing up for some time. It is hit or miss I am afraid. I only managed to upload one pic and then they went down again. Others have posted they are having the same problems.

Mr. K - That is a very nice build of your Challenger. Put it in a background and it would look new.

It is tough to judge color and shade from the old photos. Orthochromatic film handles them differently than panchromatic film does and the photos went through several different processes before we see the in print or on the screen.
The paint did look like it had sun bleached pretty quickly and so I followed the same idea that two illustrators had in making it much lighter than the color chips Humbrol prints would have it.
Here are a couple of more pics showing a bit more progress with the finish:

Matilda is finished and three pictures were uploaded to the gallery. The finish did come out lighter than the color chip and matches the illustrations more or less. The last two pics are posed with an DAK Panzer II done last year for the Back To Basics campaign. It uses the Tamiya Desert color which looks very different.
My model building skills are basic but trying new things stretches them somewhat. I had some problems with this build and some things that went right too.
Thanks for the extra time which allowed completion of this Matilda.

Nice work Paul. Looks good alongside the Panzer II.
Looks like the servers are working again so I was finally able to upload my final pics. Good thing too as I'm off on holiday tomorrow.
My 1/76 Vickers Light Tank MK.VIC of the 1st Armoured Division, British Expeditionary Force.
I gave it a wash of dark brown oil, followed my some mud splatters with Tamiya acrylics. Last touch was to add some Mig rust pigment on the exhaust. Fun little build that has helped me get my modelling mojo back. Sometimes it's good to just build a simple little kit oob to take a break from getting bogged down in more complex builds.
Been a great campaign.

Looks great. Paul. I'm glad the build enabled you to stretch a bit - that is what they are all about. I have to admit, it looks better than my early builds ever did!
Very Nice too Stephen. I love seeing some of the early war stuff that a lot of modellers neglect. I have a 1/35th scale version of the Vickers which was one of my options here. Tempted to start that one now. Great to see the mojo where it belongs too.
Hope to see you both join some of the other builds that are coming up.
Cheers

Have the ribbons been awarded for this campaign? I did not see it on my profile page.

I too am curious as to the state of the campaign ribbon.
