Bogi, fantastic builds! At a first glance I thought you show use photos of the originals. Only with the 2nd look you'll notice the models in it. Superb work! Kudos to you.
Bryan, so you're building a toaster? It's always important for soldiers to have the food truck near ....
Well, to let you guys all know, there's a silver lining showing up with my MAN. I have holidays this week and so I can work much more on the kit than usual. Here's how far I've come until this evening:
Wheels are done. They are made of rubber and painted with Revell 9 Anthracite ....
.... 3rd camo paint was done yesterday, NATO Brown from Vallejo ....
.... exhaust and wheels are put in place today ....
.... aaaaannndddd test .....
.... this are the paints I've used for the camo ....
.... Most of the detail painting is done by now. Tomorrow I'm going to a hobby shop in town to buy some Evergreen profiles for the dangerous goods sign. Let's see how far I am next week.
Have a nice weekend!

Hello! This is my progress on the Miniart's model. Here are some photos.
Unfortunately, I erased in error the assembly of the engine, which turned out to be quite detailed.
Bryan, I like your choice for the campaign. I will observe his development with interest.
Good luck to all!

Thank you Torsten. That's a biggest compliment modeler can get. You are making some nice progress too.
Bryan, welcome. I like your models a lot, can't wait to see one more of them.
Kalin, nice, fast build, as usual. As I see from color of rims, you are going for dark yellow finish. Are you planing to do DAK version?

Bogi, I think I'm going to make a version for the Italian Front.
But I do not rule out the possibility DAK version.

Good. The reason I asked is that there is no proof of any of them in North Africa. Or Tunisia. At least I never saw photo of one, except Kfz.70 version. I like that little truck and I would love somebody prove me wrong here.

Kalin - I love that little truck (Mercedes built I presume - the chassis and cab certainly have Mercedes design overtones.) I have both kits and was planning on doing the 4x4 as German military and the 2x4 as a Beergartenwagan using the civilian decals.
Please to show underside of chassis if you can.
(Hope you like those Famo parts from Panzer Concepts!)

Michael, the Miniart's model is superb by comparing it to ICM. Here's what you asked for.
As for the Panzer Concepts, I think it will enrich the FAMO model. Thanks!
Kalin!

Torsten, you are turning a brute into a Beauty. Looks fantastic.
Kalin, you are Churning out more great work too.
You guys build fast.
Originally I planned on building the AFV Club sdKfz 11 Nebelkraftwagen to go with my Lion Roar 'still in progress' (as it is 'lots of etch' scary) Nebelwerfer.
Now I am 3 minds....
Still do that; or
Do a SdKfz 252 ammunition supply halftrack with scratch built roof and rear panels to go with the SdAnh 32 ammo trailer I am doing for the Resin II GB; or
do IBG's Bedford QLB Bofors Gun Tractor. - the truck that pulls and resupplies the 40mm Bofors Gun
Decisions, decisions,...

Decisions, decisions,...
Part of this hobby I hate... A weekend wasted on making one. When I was ordering dials for Sd.Kfz.7, I took this Ford V3000S because it was cheap. I was looking forward to quick build over the weekend. Then problems came...
First, side panels of cargo compartment...
I found this kind only on one picture and that was the vehicle I wanted ti build from the start.
But, support under cargo compartment look different so I decided to switch to this one using Dragon Opel Blitz side panels.
But, strange looking front fenders and side panels with only 3 boards made me change my mind again. So I am going for this one.
Next, roof has some strange looking shape on the sides, making it look to high
Right side is sanded, if you see the difference...
Same thing with front fenders
They are extruded far to much.
Next, I cut off rims and married them to Dragon Opel Blitz tires. Maybe I will by aftermarket ones, but for now they look ok.
So, Peter, decisions, decisions,... I wanted to trow Ford to the bin, but decided not to.
If you ask me, I would go for Bedford QLB Bofors Gun Tractor,
then do AFV CLUB Bofors gun for Anti aircraft Campaign
and have a nice combination at the and. If you decide to go for it, make shore that you buy Bofors ammo set, you will need it in the back.

I could be wrong but the all metal roof I think, would have a higher arch to it than one that had a canvas insert. The real one in the B&W photograph is an all metal roof, no canvas, but your model has the canvas insert.
Question: will you go for the low floor "curb-side" loadbox or the high one that is at least 10-12 inches above the top of the tires?
If you like the Dragon Opel Blitz side panels then a cheaper solution might be to find an old Italeri Opel Multier somewhere. The loadbox side panels are of the exact same design and are some of the nicest and most delicate Italeri ever produced.
Below is the Italeri Multier loadbox walls mounted on a field modified MWS halftrack.

Sorry Peter.
Michael, thanks for advice. I already have Dragon sides.
I didn't know that there where low and high mounted cargo beds. Anyway, ICM gave us only one option, probably low one.
Considering roof, I don't think that there where canvas inserts on the roof. I see that bulge on many G917T and some V3000S pictures. Cabin is same on V3000S and G917T kits. But I don't know if it was the same in reality.

I very much believe the raised panel you see in the model is a canvas insert. Very common in the 30's and 40's. Also saved on metal.
I often cut them out and replace with a thin piece of shaped sheet plastic that gives some indication of the support bows underneath. Then I frame up the actual bows on the underside.

As to high/low decks there were high decks, medium (right at the top of the fenders) and low decks where the wheel wells actually cut up into the load deck. (I have no idea exactly the logic behind all this. - High decks were more top heavy and harder to load unless you were using a loading dock.)
High: ____________________________________
Medium: _________________________________
Please Note: The cab roof of the Blitz shown above arches 4-5 inches taller that the one in the photo below. I have seen a great variance in the "head room" provided in various Blitz cabs. I have no idea if this is a conscious plan or just some variation caused by different "tin knockers" building different cabs on different days?????

Thanks Michael. Sorry for not being clear enough when I wrote that I was not aware of low and high cargo beds. I was referring to Ford V3000S, not Opel Blitz. Considering cabin roof bulge, I am still not convinced in your theory. It does not mean that you are not right...

Thanks Bogi and Peter!
Yesterday I have build the warning signs for my MAN with Evergreen Profiles and covered them with a piece of tissue. I soaked them with thinned white glue and after they were dry again I painted them with Greenish Grey (Revell 67). This comes very close to how these signs looked at my truck. The original is 30 x 40 cm big, here on the model it's 8 x 12 mm, which is close to 1/35. When I was transporting fuel or ammo for the Leos the orange signs were of course open but most of the time they were covered. They are not included in the Revell kit.
I have nearly finished my build now. Only mirrors, the spare wheel and of course the decals are missing now. Looking at the photo of my truck I remember now that it had no unit markings and also no tyre pressure markings on. So only the number plate and MLC sign. I found blank Y-plates and numbers in my ATF Dingo kit, which I don't need there, so this truck will get its correct number Y-276 245 ....

I had always presumed the High, Medium, Low loadbox floor levels was something common to any and all German logistical trucks regardless of brand but on that I maybe in error.
Here are the only German Fords I have encountered in real life:

Hello everyone!
My work progress.
Bogi, I did not respond immediately because I also did not see a photo of a truck MB L1500. As far as I know, the Mercedes trucks were not popular in Wehrmacht. This and the small load capacity may be a reason not to be used in Africa. But this is just a hypothesis.
So, the Italian Front remains.
Good luck to all.
