Still haven't been able to down load my start and parts pics yet and am awaiting my friend (my itt tech) to swing by. Have removed the floatation devise front and back and have mostly finished the replacement sheet metal. Then ran into a serious problem with the road wheels. The solid road wheels just don't cut it. But then again we must remember this kit came out in the early 60's and it shows it's age. Looking at my ref. pics I noticed that the road wheels are 4 plates thick and the track is very distinct becase of the road wheels. Back to the drawing board. Phase 3, in whitch Dorris gets her oats.

Mark, thank you very much. I don't know what to say. I spend at the bench 2-3 hours on the workdays and 4-6 hours on the saturdays and sundays.

Hey Bogibg, nice job. The painting looks awsome. I had to double look at the first pic cause it looked like it was parked on a concrete slab and dripping oil and water under it. The shading and colors look top shelf..

I looked for some of the old roco afv's and some 1/72 dragon stuff but can't see anything useful for the road wheels. Some come close but the hub and bolts are too distinctive to get away with them. Only thing I can see at this point is to make a jig to hold the solid road wheel and use a saw to cut a shallow grove in 3 sections. Then take a file and work the space between them wider. Thats 16 wheels to cut, file and reatatch to the suspension. Leaves me wondering if it will end up being the weak spot on this build. I'm worried that the very old rubber band tracks might be a bit too hard on the delicate nature of the road wheels. Any one have any ideas on this?

For the cargo bed of my M925 A1, I decide to build pallets with "MRE" boxes

Styrene used to build US pallets. Dimensions were found on internet in inch, first step is to convert them in centimeters.

To make the cover,
I take a piece of real cardboard put in water to be abble to take off the first sheet.

I'm still hoping to get my whitewash put on the MAN 5T mil gl truck. I'm just not willing to paint in the garage when it's 30 degrees(F) outside...

Bob, Kalin, thanks a lot.
I made some progress on Sd. Kfz. 7.
Hopefully, I will start painting tomorrow.

When I mentioned painting - my waiting list is getting bigger and bigger.

Luckily, Riich models Universal Carrier Running Gear/Track Set arrived few days ago so I have all parts needed to finish Maultier. I will start painting immediately. This is going to be one gray weekend...

WUSS!

I hear you on that one Richard. Hard to paint with mittens on.

Welcome to my weather situation - the complete opposite. Temps over 30 degrees but that is Celsius and that is when it is raining. Humidity going through the roof and this week, the day it is not raining, it will be 38 degrees C (i.e. 101 Fahrenheit).

Thanks Peter. Finished with base coat on Maultier.

Considering problems with weather, now it's "Walking in the rain" time for me. My beast is waiting

and outside is pouring rain backed up by wind.

Same weather here in Germany, Bogi. Best time to do some modelling ....

Have started my MAN 5 to gl this week. Not much to show yet but the frame is nearly finished. Had some problems with the fitting but I win always ....

Just in case some of you are also interested in flying things, have a look at my Saab JAS 39 Gripen if you like (scroll down the page to the end). There's another Gripen finished, the twin seater was photographed today and will be online in a few days. Just have to sort out the photos.

Happy modelling

Calling the Zis-5 done:

Wanted a truck that looked like it had a lot of miles delivering the goods, but not like it had single-handedly won the Battle of Stalingrad. More mud and rain than chipping. I have some stowage I'll work on at some point and throw it in the back, but right now I have to move on to other campaigns.
