Hello fellow modelers,
First of all congrats to all finishers so far!
I just finished the build phase, now turning my attention to painting. And just I comment: I love Chaffee even more than before starting this kit. Most beautiful tank of ww2 in my eyes

Cheers,
Zsolt

Quick!!! Put a lid on that extra, extra large, Super sized, can of worms!!!
Looking Great Zsolt. I take it from the clean build there, that there little or no issues with the kit? I have the Bronco 'British' version in the stash.

OK, maybe you are right - disclaimer: that is my private opinion

The kit is fantastic! Super fit and very sharp details. My only problem was that the manual is not clear enough at several points so you have always cross-check from photos to be sure that you glue the parts to their place and not just somewhere close to it

Gaz, Peter, Mark, thanks for the good words.
Peter, Mark, I used a zimmerit of ATAK Models. In the turret I finally stuck it and found that such a piece was simply missing in this product. My friends in Bulgaria (including Angel Yovtshev) one after another asked me about this piece. Unfortunately, this type of zimmerit, can not reproduce.
I'm sorry if I disappointed you.

I am slowly making progress on the Grille. The detail in the engine bay is so nice I am tempted to leave an engine hatch open.

Zsolt - beautiful work on that Chaffee, I have heard the Bronce kit is finicky, a testament to your skill.
Kalin - Terrific looking Befehlspanther!

Hi Kalin, no disappointment at all. It was meant as little joke. I thought you had intentionally made some battle damage!
If this happens a gain, just stipple some putty filler in the gap to make it look like the piece broke away and there is only a small bit left stuck on the turret/hull.

Time for an update on my build
Untitled by

Dragon makes the hull with an intentional warp to enable a snug fit of the hull roof. While the engine plate helps in reducing this warp at the rear, I had to add a spreader at the front as the roof just refused to stay in place.

Added the spare track holders. The lower one had a strip of styrene connecting each holder. I cut them off to make it a bit more realistic.

The upper hull roof part was a bit warped. I had a tough time getting it to sit properly. Lots of swear words were used during this phase of the build

The commander's cupola was missing from my box (along with a road wheel). Thankfully I have another box of the same kit and I was able to steal one wheel from there. Sadly no such luck for the cupola and i had to make it from the spares bin.

The hull is finally finished. Now to add the various tools and hatches

I tried to get some rolled steel effect with some Mr Surfacer. This is my first time doing it and I feel I may have overcooked it a bit

I initially planned to use the AM copper tow cables, but I had a change of plans. I wanted to depict the tank as it was just after it arrived in Italy and after it got its camo but before it entered combat. So I ended up using the kit cables after all.

The kit as it stands now. ObLt Minion stands guard as I get the paint booth all prepped up. Please stay tuned for further updates.
Thanks for watching
