Belated Happy New Year (well let's hope so).

This is a great choice for a little vignette.

It's easy to forget how important field telephones were at the time - and just how dangerous it was to lay them.

There's a sequence in the film Enemies at the Gate which shows this to very dramatic effect.

Anyway, keep these beautiful figures coming!

Just catching up with this….

Paint work looks fantastic, really looks like wood that's been outside for some time in less than clement weather.

There is one thing and I've been mulling over whether to say anything…. there are almost always five bars. In the two photos I posted earlier the bottom one is hidden in the long grass, but it's there, and the diagonal brace reaches the corner.

It's not a major thing and I only noticed because I'm a nerd. You could, I think, extend the bottom quite easily. Like I said, repairs in very basic form are/were common, so just adding the planks would not be wrong at all. The bottom bar gets wet from mud, gets caught in long grass etc, so they do rot, break and need repair or replacement. Some wire, string or nails would hold it all together.
Or, as in the photos, some long grass will cover everything if you want to leave it.

Please take this in the spirit it was written
