Yes,absolutely correct. Believe it or not,Hitler was a runner during the first war and was awarded the Iron Cross for bravery while performing those duties. Not many of those were given out to enlisted guys back then and he was justifiable proud of it.Hate to give the guy any credit but, hey,he did earn it

Yes, and apparently that single medal was enough to ignite one hell of an ego bomb in his brain. But think about this: Without him, we would not have nearly as many interesting things to build as modelers. Let that sink in.

I can't leave you alone for a few months without you coming up with another brilliant story!

Great storyline and your figures are magnificent! Since we are talking figures, I am looking for a 1/28 (or close) WWI German flyer to stand in as Baron von Richtoven... any suggestions?

Like I said, great mind, great work!

Model cellar i think have few 120mm of Manfred Von Richthofen figures

Thanks guys for the interesting side bars.

I made some progress on the number 3 lineman.
Added his gear, etc. I still have to replace his pointer finger and thumb and putty up that wrist plus make some minor tweeks but he is pretty stable now. I have have learned over time it's easier to just make the breadbags out of putty so they conform right off the bat. I have seen a few pics o guys wearing the gas mask carrier just hooked onto the belt so this was intentional on my part here.
This pic reminds me I am still not happy with how his right hand looks. I have some ideas for that still.

Back view.

Another guy giving covering fire has been started. He was from the Dragon set "KG Luck". The main mod was turning his Heer smock into a late WSS version. It also took extensive working to get his hands to conform to the rifle so they actually looked like he was gripping it.That was done with careful bending and apps of putty.

His head, which is from a Alpine set, may look too bent over but you have to make the right eye line up with the front and rear sight posts on the Kar98K!!
He still needs the putty cleaned up,etc. These close up pics always help me see the flaws faster.

The bayonet points out one of my pet peeves with model figures. That knife with its' leather scabbard has some weight! It needs to be nestled down into the clothing and not "float" on top like many build it looking like. I am still wondering how to make the studs on the boot bottoms. Maybe resin rivets from an airplane aftermarket set?

A valid point, Shell, but given the choice, I would settle for having fewer subject to model.

Awesome Figs, Jerry! Very interesting vignette shaping up.

This is The Standard to aspire to alright, great work Jerry. Is it camera distortion or does Lineman 3’s left hand look too small? I’d agree his right hand needs to be more bunched like a fist to hold the rifle. As for the hobnails – maybe a dud idea but dropping a blob-ette of Elmers or other thick substance from a pin-head? I tried shaving off bolt-heads for something similar & it drove me crazy, too much variation.

Excellent work Jerry !!! Yeah that right hand looks like it's holding a beer mug . How about putting some gloves between the hand and rifle ? On the hobnails how about some small round plastic rod sliced up or some stretched sprue ?

Hello Jerry, with regard to your hobnail boot problem, Royal Models makes a photo etch German Infantry gear set that includes a set Hobnail boot soles, hope this helps.

Thanks all,for the kind remarks and also very useful suggestions and intel.
I sort of solved the hobnail issue by using Archer rivet resin transfers. Not lined up perfectly but they at least, give the suggestion. A little dirt, etc will help that blend in nicely.

The "waiting guy" is on the final paint touch up phase. I always cringe when I see this work under giant magnification like this but as I always state,it helps me see flaws.

Enjoy and have a nice first weekend in December!

Nice work Jerry,

The facial expression on the figure captivates the moment well.

I really like the attention to detail you pay to the uniforms and equipment and the effort you put into getting the anatomy correct in your poses. I also like the way you pose your figures to support the actions of the other figures in your dioramas so the action/story flows well. Great work, Jerry!

Cheers,
James

Mike,Jim and Mike!
Thanks for the words of support guys! Like I have written several times in the past,I really am into the human side of this diorama thing, probably because I am a frustrated filmmaker! LoL.

Much further along on this guy now,not much more to finish.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Loving this. It's really great the way all your figures have an individual personality, from the tear in the knee of this guys trousers to the ring on his finger, all details that make him more human.

Thanks Tim,

Sometimes it's just the hazards of posting in progress pics, other times it points out mistakes. But posting here is still a nice thing!
Thanks again for your observations!

I cautiously etch into tunics to do the very thing with bayonets, holsters too. My pet peeve is how out of scale pistol holsters are thickness wise and I always thin them down too. As far as studs or hobnail soles, I have been using thick resin available at fly fishing shops or fly tying retailers like Feathercraft. A needle or the bottles finest tip(Loon brand) gets close enough to scale to make me happy. Using a handheld blue light to harden it.

Thanks Henry for the tip. Sounds promising.

The next guy is about done. I will fix the few dings I see with the enlarged view here and then add some terrain color once I see what that is.

Have a look and see what is up.

What IS up is you’re still doing remarkable work with these little plastic guys! Great work as always Jerry. As noted above, you sure manipulate the plastic to look fluid and convincing - wow!

Nick and Floris, thanks so much for the words of encouragement fellas!

I added another phone to the crew. The "shooter" looked too un-encumbered.

I also added the last fig. He is part of the Forward Observer team and is carrying the scissors binos on his back, along with the tripod. He began as the awesome Radu running fig. I removed one ammo pouch and gave him a map case. Then I scratchbuilt the tripod and the backpack using pics kindly found for me on the other forum here.
Have a look,

Hope you are having a nice weekend and recovering from the epic Army/Navy game! Sorry Navy,
