Pat, the dio is looking superb! I especially like the way its on two levels. Really adds depth to it. I've had a break from mine for a week but hope to finish it over the next few days. The fridge is full of beer so I have the neccesary supplies...lol. Just got one side of the street to complete now. Still debating whether to stick the T34 in though.

OK all!
Finaly I'm able to place some WIP pictures of my dio:
Some info about how I made the building front can be find over here.
There will be piles of rubble and so, but this is how far I am for now...
Let me know what you think!!! Critics and ideas welcome!

How are we doing Berliners?
Don't let the good weather extract you from work; just take your work outside :-)
Well, always surfing the net I came across these little gems to inspire you those last weeks!

Almost there! Need to do the buildings for one side of the street. Fortunately it's just fronts and I'll be there. Should only take a couple of days.Need to mess up the park on the other side of the street from the main building. Have a look at the pics so far and see what you think. I've tried to interlink everything with eye contact so each part of the dio says something. Not sure if its worked yet as I'm still moving figures. Critisiscm gratefullt received

I've decided to use the T-34 but haven't set it down yet apart from the dry run. I need to build that end of the street and colour some more cat litter for rubble. Still placing figures at the defensive end of the street. Its amazing what you find in your modelling stash that you've thrown on one side! I've been paint stripping figures to repaint them and taking off arms etc. I don't know about Mr Muscle being good for cleaning ovens but its brilliant for cleaning off acrylic paint! Once its done I'll post a full set of pics if people are okay with that as the fighting is in depth and it needs to be seen from a variety of angles to look at it properly.

Hi friends,
I'm working on my "Berlin 1945" diorama. I am not sure if I will be able to finish it at time, but it is going well and I'm having fun with it. So thanks for the campaign.
I opened a SBS topic of my diorama here. Please take a look.

I've got a rather unexpected problem.
After 3 months of problems with my knee, I know have problems with my right arm for about 2 weeks now. The doc thinks it's some sort of infection. I got medication which helps to reduce pain but I can't use my arm a lot....
So working on my diorama is not easy now. With this delay I fear I won't make it in time...

Martin thats cr**py news. I can sympathise with that. I broke my elbow last year and had to have surgery on it so I couldn't touch a kit for over a month with being in plaster etc. To be honest I think you should get the ribbon as a casualty...lol...Joking aside its bad news as I was looking forward to seeing the completed dio. Take it easy mate and get it rested up. While you can't build anything do research. Thats what I did. While I was in hospital I read a pile of stuff on Normandy (funnily enough I was reading a book on Pegasus Bridge and the old bloke in the next bed was ex-RAF and told me he'd been prepping the Horsas! I gave him my ice cream after that. Mind you I can't stand the stuff!) so I think I'm going to do a Mont Pincon dio for my next one. Just waiting for a Normandy build...lol. get your arm right and don't rush it.

@Karl: did you really used cat litter for rubble? Looks good. It gives a nice effect. The T-34 looks great behind the russian soldiers.
@Martin: that's bad news indeed! As Karl stated: take your time to heal. Don't worry about the dio; we can arrange a 'purple heart' for you if you don't finish in time .
@Wampum: that looks great Alguhan! I'm happy you like the campaign so much. If you need extra time, just PM me, OK?
I took the liberty to place one of your pictures in this thread, so others can see how you are doing.
Guys; more can be seen here on Wampum's thread
I hope to work on my dio this morning and will post some pictures at the end of the day

OK, as promised some pictures of the dio in progress.
Today I made the rubble on the left side, planning a Schwimm and some Germans (yes, only 1 on the picture, I know).
I'm in doubt of using a Wespe instaed of a Schwimmwagen, but I have a hard time finding info if Wespe's / SdKfz 124's were used in Berlin.
Some units that served in Berlin are likely to have them, but I can't find any hard evidence (like a picture or division status) of it.
It's frustrating me I can't find it
Does some of you have any clue about a Berlin Wespe?

Thanks Paul. I find that the cat litter is nice and cheap and gives a reasonable look to rubble. I leave it to soak in a tub full of diluted paint and because its absorbent it just soaks the paint up. It takes a couple of days to dry properly but once thats done I put it into another tub with some plus model bricks and then give it a good shake for a few minutes. This tends to smash it up a bit more and all the coloured dust settles to the bottom. For the barricades I used expanded polystyrene tiles then covered them in wall filler. Once this had dried I gave them a couple of coats of paint then liberally applied the cat litter debris with white glue. Glad you like it!

Getting near to completion which is a relief as I've never been fond of Russians. Sitting and waiting for Third Shock Army to have a poke is never fun.Hehe I was one of the few that had a sensible haircut in the 80's due to that.Always wished the Cold War would heat up...lol...It's amazing how quickly you run out of rubble.I need to order more bricks. Paul you're going to have to tell me how to cast my own! I'm going to have to colour some more cat litter tomorrow...lol. I've filled the empty space with a park. The end of the street will be just building fronts but it should frame it nicely I think so that it forces you to concentrate on the street fighting. I'll post some pics. Critisism and opinions welcomed

My project is going ahead slowly but nicely. I'm working on the figures and the groundwork.
Here are the updates.
Paul, maybe with a couple of days of delay but I think I will finish the diorama at time..

Looking good Karl!
Casting the brick yourself is very easy. Take a look at this feature make your own bricks.
I used a "simplified" method: just poured the plaster in a thin layer and almost dried, I cut it in pieces/bricks.
Wampum, no problem about the extra days.
Your diorama is looking great! I like the tan colour of the walls.
I'm at home beeing sick the last few days: cold and warm the same time and very tired. So my production level is not that high the last days, but I'm planning to work on the last bits this weekend..

Thanks Paul. Glad you like it and thanks for the link on bricks. I'm going to try that over the next couple of days as I've started the buildings for the far end of the street. Should be done for the deadline! Another pic from the pak 40 position. I've converted it into black and white to see what it looks like. Was thinking period photo...lol
