Can't blame you for ordering all that aftermarket stuff. Seems Just irrestistable!
I think the colour is darker than flat earth.

Great to see that a lot of projects are moving ahead. I am almost finished with the construction of my M3 Scout car from Zvezda/Italeri.

I have found some old markings to use as the kit only comes with Russian and US markings. I have also found a nice camouflage scheme of overall OD with black "wavy" hard edge areas.

I will post some pictures when the construction is finished.

I'm almost done with my 1/72 DML Firefly... It's so nice, I wish I had more of these little shermans to build
As soon as I get a camera (mine gone AWOL), I'll post photos. The colors might not be very accurate, though.

@Andy: that is coming along nicely. It looks like you have added a deep wading kit to your steel monster Is this going to be a D-day version?

@everybody: I have now finished building the M-3 Scout Car. The kit comes together well, but some care is needed for the rail running along the edge of the interior. There is also some serious pin marks on the inside of the interior and the doors.

I have also found some British markings to go with it, as the kit only comes with US and Russian markings.

I think I will make in overall US green as British lend lease vehicles were only repainted when the old US paint needed repainting. Maybe I will add some black wavy camouflage.

More later....

Hi Jesper
I found the wading kit lurking in the spares box but I had no markings,I got a Bison decal sheet last week and it had a set for wading version included so here we are, more brass :-) :-)
Looks kinda neat with the big boxes on

Yeah, it definently makes it look more unusual and sets it aside from the crowd

Have you tried Bison decals before. I have tried some markings from the "Grom" decal set and they seems to leave a nasty film that Microsol set or flat varnish cannot remove. Have you encountered such problems before?

Looks really nice. Pardon my ignorance (I did spend some time trying to figure it out), but what is the scale on the turret for? (Don't know much about commonwealth history. This campaign is a place to start from.)

I'm curious too. Looks like something a panzer commander would use to dial in the gigantic flat sides of the turret

Build looks awesome, love the deep wading gear

Here's my official entry, Tamiya's old standby...the Pink Panther.

Still a great kit, nicely engineered, fits really well, lots of fun.....

Thanks for the kind words guys
Andras and Kevin, " the tanks would fire their guns offshore from their landing craft,on german targets and bunkers.they would then land and continue their work from the beach.
the white degree markings on the turret of the tank were placed to assist in fire support, the markings could be read by binocular equipped spotters to align the 95mm howitzer on the target, even if smoke obscured the direct line of fire".
I hope this shines some light on it for you

Great model so far. I have seen one of these with numbers on the turret and everything on the Normandy beaches some 8-10 years ago. It is probably still there.

I still do not get it with the numbers. If a spotter calls out "Bunker at 120 degress" then the turret starts to turn, but so does the numbers. I could understand the system if the numbers were at the hull.

Here is an update on my M3 scout car. The main details have been painted. Next I will touch up on the base colour in the nooks and crannies.
Then decals and then weathering. I will probably finish within a week or two.

I'm getting ready with the basics on the DML 1/72 Firefly.

Edit:
I'm not sure why it is so tiny.

Well here is another Sherman.
It's the DML Sherman 111. Really lovery kit. Bits and pieces from other kits and Milliput canvas. Branches stolen from local tree.

I know it doesn't look particulary Green but in real life it is better.

Also I cannot find the gallery to post one picture in. Is it me or has it not been created yet.

Cheers
Tony

I'm in. I just started the Stuart Honey kit from Academy and was entering it in the desert one, but I also have 3 other projects in desert camo in the works. Going to finish it in the Desert Rats blue/yellow scheme.

Here is my finished entry. It is the 1/35 Zvezda M3 Scout used by the british forces under the lend/lease agreement.

The kit build up OOB without any major problems. In some places it is showing its age, but in general it is fine. It is finished in overall green with British markings. Weathering has been kept light with some "dust" washes and some Tamiya pastels. The sides and the rear wheel covers have received an ekstra amount of dirt/dust as I imagine that troops would use these areas to dismount.

Comments welcome

EDIT: the pictures are now also uploaded in the gallery.
