It may seem strange that the previous release was the self-propelled gun version nevertheless we now have the Hobby Boss kit of the T-18. Here we see further details and what is inside the box.
Regarded as the first Soviet-designed tank, the T-18 was based on the French Renault FT. It featured an improved suspension, featuring an extra return roller and an independent vertical suspension with rubber tired bogies. It saw action in 1929 as an experimental company was deployed to defend the Far Eastern Railway near the Manchurian border. Poor maneuverability and speed, outdated gun and aiming sights, rendered the T-18 obsolete by 1931. More than 900 units are estimated to have been built during its 1928-31 production run.
Hobby Boss’ Soviet T-18 Light Tank MOD 1930 (83874) contains more than 250 parts in plastic and photo-etched materials. It features a multi-slide molded lower hull and individual track links. Dimensionally it stands at 113mm (L) by 67.8mm (W) when built.
