In our continuous update on the In-Progress Land Rover from HobbyBoss, here's the second batch of images.
Now, with the model in the images coming close to the finish line, the project is becoming a little clearer - it seems that the tires will be rubber (or the composite material which is used) and that a FULL engine will be included. Also missing from the previous batch of images were the headrests on the crew seats. Also included will be the hard-top.

More to come!

Our thanks (again) to Hobby Boss for sharing these images with us!

Looks like a standard GS Rover rather than a WMIK - no guns fitted as standard.

This is great. I grew up in an old 109 Land Rover back in the late 60s and early 70s and have always had a soft spot for them. I bought a book a few years back called "Land Rovers in the Gulf" and now it looks like I'll get to use it. I certainly hope they do some older versions of the Rover. My Father who was with the British Army actually drove one of the "Series One" models way back at the start of the Korean War. He fell in love with it then and had one almost continually since. He finally gave the last one up a few years back...at 86 he's getting a little old to fight with the older transmissions. He steadfastly refused to even look at the newer models on the market saying a true land Rover shouldn't be comfortable or have complex British Electrics! He is a true believer of "Keep it simple stupid" Of course I'd like to see the whole line of Rovers, but that's wishful thinking I guess. Great stuff Hobby Boss!! Sean a true Land Rover fan by birth!

We are going to need a good set of Modern British figures for this kit. Cookie

WMIK is an option, but it's a good start for a conversion if no WMIK avaible

Hmmm... Wish I'd seen this before the Scottish Nationals as I bought the AA wolf hardtop Doh.... Looking at the pics , it looks like AA might have to up their game

Not neccesarily. I've already spoken to them about these and they, like any sensible company, see marketing advantages in this. Remember that AA have the LR market at the moment, it'll take time for HobbyBoss to get to the number of variants that AA do...

[/quote] This is probably a good market opportunity for AA: lots of people won't buy the full AA kits because of cost but I expect they could very quickly and without huge R&D release up-grade/conversion sets to go with the HB plastic kits
