Hi everybody!
Here are my first pictures of my model for this campaig. It still needs improvements (it's still too clean ) - constructive feedback will be appreciated .

@Andrzej: cool looking Marder. Very good a realistic look of the white wash. Did you base it on a picture. I have the feeling I have seen a b/w photo of exactly this vehicle, but I could be wrong.
@Jon: Good progress on the PAK. I can see this one lurking in the undergrowth waiting for panzers. Are you going to make a diorama with it?
Thanks for sharing, guys

Jon and Andrzej, nice work so far. I can't wait to see final result so keep us posted, guys.
I must say I'm not happy that only few of 73 members enlisted inform us about their progress here on the thread. Pls share your progress with us.
I'm sure this would help everyone to improve one's technique or get familiar with some new tricks. It will be great fun to compare diffirent techniques of painting winter camo and the efects of them.
And here is my update pic: model assembled and primed.

Yes Jesper the PaK 40 will go in a diorama. The title of the diorama is "You expect us to eat THAT?!?!?!".

Hi!
@ Jesper - well, if you've seen this vehicle on B/W picture - I'm jealous... - I couldn't find one... I had to base on some other schemes seen on pictures and on few links proposed by Marcin. BTW - I'm planning to build very small dio for this one so untill it's done I have to wait with applying dirt and stuff... it simply have to match one to another...
Thanks for comments!
@ Marcin - are that spring dampers I see on the tank's suspension? What exactly model are you buildin (the kit and the producer - it looks very interesting).
Happy New Year to everybody in here!!
Andrzej

Yes, these are suspension springs but not working so you won't be able build working suspension out of the box.
This is Dragon 6185 - German T-34 based on T-34 mod. 1940 (as I remember correctly)
This kit is much better than regular T-34 mod '40 beacuse you get fret with photo etched parts, alluminium barrel and brass wire for the same price (or very similar) as regular Soviet version ans of course you don't have to build germanised version, you'll find in the box all parts needed for Russian one.
There are only two things you must be aware of. First is minor turret assembly problem (just think twice and remember about dry fitting). The second one is when you want to use etched mesh, you have to cut off the frame from engine cover with modelling saw, glue mesh in place and then glue the frame on the mesh. The way instruction suggests placing the mesh (from underneath of engine cover), gives very unnatural look.
Here is box art as teaser:

Hello everyone.
I know it's been a while since I posted some photos of my Hetzer but I was away for a while visiting relatives in North-Germany. Here are a few pictures that I took hastily a few minutes ago (the quality is not the best but I guess it's better than nothing):
Although it's not perfect (the colors were not what I originally had in mind) I'm quite pleased with my first ever model and I have learned a lot in the process of airbrushing and that's mainly why I'm here, to learn. The MG and the Schürtzen have also been painted this way. If you're wondering why I painted my model in an ordinary Hetzer scheme and not white it's because I wanted to do a white-wash that looked as if it had been applied hastily and had started coming off due to rain, snow, etc. For this I found it necessary to paint the Hetzer in this scheme first because I'm hoping that I'll be able to achieve a final result where you can still see the usual camo, much like in this drawing:
Sadly, I have no idea how to achieve this look. I've tried using a masking solution but it's not fine enough to replicate those little streaks and it wouldn't have looked natural. Could anyone please offer some help by giving me some advice? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Happy New Year!

Michael,
You're model is looking good so far. I dont know what do you meen about wrong colors - they look right to me (maybe the brown should be closer to brick red on ambush camo, but maybe it's just the light on the pictures).
As for worn white wash effect - you can find interesting techniqe described here:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/108432&page=1
I hope it will help!.

Thanks for the link Andrzej! I still have the entire week off so I think I'll have plenty of time to get closer to finishing this model and I'll also get started on other projects. Thanks again!

A later start than others, but I'm into the process now. I've got a good start on the figures which I had started first since I was working on others for another diorama. The 1/35 Tamiya Tiger I (Mid) has a the Cavalier 'Zim' set started, an Eduard barrel and PE. It will be a diorama showing the Tiger of s.PzAbt 506 in Winter 1944 getting ready to go into combat, a little fuel and ammo, crew gearing up. More to come,

Looks like a great entry Mike!
Little update from my side: I painted the road wheels and made an attempt to paint the spare tracks but this didn't turn out well. I tried with Tamiya acrylic which I also use for airbrushing but it didn't really work with hand painting. Maybe I'll try humbrol instead, with a protective coat of varnish first of course.

Martin, if you want to work with Humbrol and you will not like the result all you have to do is to put it for night in closed container filled with some liquid used i.e. for toilet cleaning. It has to have a lot of chlorium in it - the more chlorium the better. Just keep it in closed container (otherways your wife/mother/anybody-else-you-live-with will keep asking about the smell ). After a night take the parts out of the conteiner and wash them with mild water - Humbrol paint will simply dissapear leaving not damaged plastic - it worked great for me.
Just remember about rubber gloves - skin starts to melt down after few minutes of playing with these chemicals .

Basic painting done. Green is Pactra's Russian Armor and whiter is Vallejo's Off-White.
Applying decals.
I had to cut centre of the decal that goes on the back of the turret to provide proper layout and then paint missing spot with black paint.

Martin, Marcin,
You're models are looking very good so far. I can't wait to see them finished.
I'd post some pictures of my work in progress, but 1) progress almost stoped (I'm involved also in Medic! campaign and I started that model now), 2) I have problems with my PC at home (probably mainboard died...) and it's difficult to post any pictures when I'm at work .

Thus far, every attempt at posting my pictures in the gallery have been a failure. So, I figured that I'd put them on here!
This the first kit I have finished in a while. And this was the first time I tried my hand at white washing. It was good to get back into the glue and paint!
The kit is an old ALBY kit re-hashed by Dragon. I did it entirely out of box, and the white-wash is just Tempera paint. I had a good time building it, especially because it's so weird....a French Armored car used by the Germans used on the rails of Russia! However, the kit itself shows its age; it has absolutely NO interior whatsoever! Also, all doors except for the driver window are molded on, leaving you to your own devices on opening them. It's a good beginner's kit, with few parts and a simple paint scheme. I figured it was good enough to refresh myself with!
Thanks for your time!

I'm planning on making a T-28 captured and white-washed by the Finns. The blue stripes seem very unique and might make the smaller T-28 stand out next to my bohemouth T-35.
I'm going to try to make mine a combo of these two...blue stripes over white-wash, but kinda worn off showing the Green underneath.
Anyone know which unit these were attached to? I know it was only one Finnish heavy Batt.

Hi
You should upload at least one picture of finished model to campaign's gallery ( GALLERY ) and then you can share your pics here, at this thread
