Hi guys,

Finished my 251 for the campaign. Pics can be seen along with a description on how I did the whitewash on my thread HERE

But here's a taster for you:

Thanks, it was a great campaign, made me do a little experimenting with this kit!

Hi

You should upload at least one picture of finished model to campaign's gallery ( GALLERY ) and then you can share your pics here, at this thread

Hi Marcin

Now I am very confused. There are now two campaign galleries for the white washed campaign. I assume you will be checking both galleries when you award the ribbons?

Is there any particular reason why there are two campaign galleries?

I'm confused too. I will have to clear that with Mark. I'm sure that it's some kind of mistake.
Thanks for pointing that.

Good work Koen, you really went to town with yours, it looks great.

Is that the Tamiya kit you used?

heh, I'm going to try the hairspray one too. I've been so short on time I had to submit the father and son ones with a lot less done to finish them then I liked. I'm trying to finish the little hetzer, I'm thinking in captured with russian markings repainted green with a white wash for a little twist

It's high time to start thinking about ribbon.
My proposition is make it look something like this:

Pls let me know what you think about it. Is generally good idea, do you prefer another colour of background, etc?
You can also post your own projects.

You should definately keep the Sherman in there, but maybe you could change the background to more of an OD color. Just a thought.

Good job, though.

I do agree with Samuel - ribbon is great but I think that darker background will do the job - it should make white a little whiter.

Great job

I'm not in the campaign, but as far as the ribbon is concerned from a design point of view:

the bright green has an inherently warm feel to it and is also considered a "spring" color.

try a background color in the "winter" range - black, most (non pastel) blues, grays, dark greens, etc... (obviously white, which is another winter color, won't work with the white sherman in the foreground)

Frankly I think a medium to dark blue-ish gray for the background will convey the winter feeling that should intrinsically come with your campaign theme.

You're right about the color of background. With darker the ribbon looks much better.

black

dark blue

dark grey

grey

OD

violet

You can vote which one looks the best and should be official ribbon.

For me dark grey looks interesting. Olive drab looks also good (may be a little darker but it's OK!).
Nice job on that!

Dark Blue or Dark Grey, they stand out better... the black background is "too black"

Looks cool. I would go for the OD or dark grey background.

Looking forward to get the final ribbon

So far dark grey background leads.
Maybe it would better to save Sherman profile for Sherman! campaign (although tank would be left OD instead of white) and use Panther profile?

I like the Sherman and the dark grey background.

BTW, where do you get the images (like the Sherman) for these ribbons?

I search them through Google images, f.i. "sherman profiles". Then I process them in Photo Fitre (free for private use).

Chris,
Outstanding job so far - painting looks very good and details (especially cables) are great! Very nice weathering too.

I have to seat and finish my Mader III for this campaign...

Marcin, I like both your ideas - dark grey seems to do the job after all, and if you use Sherman, or Panter, it doesn't matter much... (BTW - I love Panters and I'd be happy to have one on my ribbon )

Nice entry, Chris.

And now it's time for some update of my T-34:
few pics to compare before (one right side) and after (the left side) thinned off-white Vallejo acrylic being applied

turret painted the same way few days earlier

the results

Marcin - nice effect with acrylic - it gave "the whiter shade of pale"
How do you paint exhaust pipes?

Usually I use Model Master Rust (often mixed with different shades of brown) but lately (KV-1 and T-34) I started using Vallejo German Cam. Brown Black (I don't remember the no. now).
On this T-34 I think I will also apply thin layer of white on exhaust pipes to minize dark spots (as real crew would probably do) as I did with spare tracks.
