I have now started on the Paras supporting my Jagdtiger in my Late war diorama. A nice little set with good details.
I am not looking forward to the German para camo pattern for the tunics. Especially not in this scale. Bring out the magnifying glass and the fine brush!

I'm in as well, but haven't a bloody clue what to do though, might as well earn the wings on here as well.

Marcin,
Great progress! I'm still painting camo on my figures (1colour/1 figure/day - it takes a while).
BTW:
is it allowed to post a picture of a pussy here?

Marcin, i love everything, but the ammo bandaliers on the middle paratrooper are much to overscale. They almost look like BAR pouches. Hope it isnt too late to correct?

Thank you for your comment, but unfortunately it's too late. Figures are finished and wait for the base (which is about 90% done by now). All I can do now, is to give the guy a Bar instead of Garand. Do you think it would look OK?

@ Marcin; the bunker looks real good! Job well done on the concrete! As for the figures, they look quite monotous. Maybe try to vary in the shades of pants and coats?
@ Andrzej; please show us how you are doing on the splittertarn-camo. I've to do some of that as well and I have no idea how to...
@ Andor; I can not see your pictures?
@ Bruce; Sometimes you have to rethink your priorities!! Get well soon and all the best to you!
As for me, I finally was able to get my hands on some natrium bicarbonate, so LET IT SNOW!!!

@ Bruce - I'm very sorry to hear that but I do understand your decision. Most important thing for you now is to get well and for us is to have you fully operational here . So: get well Bruce - health is more important than any model man can build.
@Ron
Well, I've returned to building my K-5 Leopold and my desk covered with its parts (man, they're huge)... It's hard to paint anything in this conditions. I've painted my figures with brown part of camo - they still need green and raindrop marks.
I promise to paint at least one figure in 100% and post a short tutorial here this week.
BTW: here are visible Andor's pictures:
I do like the markings on this one.

@ Ron , They've been painted in different shades: German WW II Camo Beige (821) and Medium Grey (987) from Vallejo, but after all work has been finished the diffirent became almost invisible, besides it's too late because I attached them to the base last weekend.
Base almost finished:

@ Ron
As promissed:
step first - three layers of ochre (first a bit darker, with some black paint, second pure ochre, third = ochre+white - highlights)
Second step - brown camo scheme. I paint the contour first trying to keep the lines as straight as possible and angles sharp without any round and smooth curves - it's just like drawing squeres and triangles next to each other. Then I fill the insides with brown.
Third step - green. Same as brown, just keep the green touching the brown as much as possible.
Last step: Let it rain, a day, a week, a year! (who knows where this line came from has a beer from me) - raindrop marks. Short, thin lines going downwards (in free state so be carefull with sleeves).
Hope it will help you with your figures - if you have any other method, please show it as well.

Thanks for the tutorial Andrzej! I was going nuts with this, removed paint from my fallschirmjäger figure twice already because I didn't like the result.

You are welcome! I hope it will help you. I've made 4 or 5 tries myself before finding a method giving this result - it is still not perfect but looks good enough for me = I'm too lazy to make it any better .

Thanks Andrzej!!
I, too, was going bezerk trying to figure it out. I was first doing it on pieces of Zeltbahn to make up a tent. At the end I used scanned tamiya-parts and printed those on paper.
Didn't work either. Colours came out all wrong!!!!
I'm allmost getting sick thinking of doing another German camo......

Be cool Ron, think that I have another 7 figures to paint this way (and another 6-8 in the stash...)
I've matched colours to my own trousers printed in this camo and it looks quite good - pictures are not perfect, but again I'm very lazy person and preparing whole set for pictures is far beyond my powers this week ).

Hi
I;ve started the base of my diorama. Have used parts from an old Verlinden ruin & a lot of rubble. The white patches near the gun are vac form Cobble paving .

Nice little viginette, Marcin. It looks good.
I am still waiting for my MiG products to finish the Jagdtiger for my diorama. In the meantime I have worked on the Fallschirms jaeger. Really really tough to recreate the German Para camouflage. Any good advise will be appreciated.
Here is where I stand now

Hi Jesper,
I ran into trouble recreating the Splittertarnung, too.
Andrzej suggested I'd try to paint the pattern first using small squares and triangles.
So I did and here''s what it turned out like:
As for the base colour I used Tamiya's JN green and for the green and brown a mix of Tamiya, Vallejo and Andrea shades. I then washed the Zeltbahn with a greenish wash for the left figure and a yeloow one for the right one.
Here's Andrzej's tip.... which is a few post up this thread btw.

@ Jesper,
If you are looking for some tips maybe you could use small tutorial I've posted on previous page of this tread. It's not much, just my way to paint this kind of camo - I don't know if it looks better than yours though...
@ Marcin - nice dio. I really like the look of bunker - realistic weathering.
@ Shaun - this is going to be interesting dio. Base is really well planned.
@ ALL
SInce the On The Eastern Front campaign resulted with very nice feature on front page I do believe we can do something as nice here. Therefore I'd like to ask you to keep pictures of finished dioramas 800x600 (horizontal, landscape pictures) or 600x800 (for vertical, portrait pictures). Try to keep them in as good quality as you can. As soon this campaign is over I will submit it's summary for a feature..
