Good looking scene, Jes!
Apart from the wash Jesper suggesed, you should increase the size of the irises in the eyes. That way you tone down the whites and, combined with said washes, eliminate that staring look.
I really like the green splittertarn. That turned out well. The yellow ones are a bit on the bright side. Maybe give each of the figures a wash in different colours (green, brown, sand) to blend the colours and get a less uniform look.
I tried that too with my 251/2-crew and it turned out quite good.

@ Ron,
Right now I'm finishing my K5 Leopold... I have only one more week to do it, so this is my priority for now, but I promise to build at least one diorama for this campaign as soon as K5 is done!
@ Jes,
I see you've used the same kit I'm building. Diorama is very nice and I like the way you've placed them next to the wall - they sure are covered but in the same time everything is nicely visible. Just one remark - you could vary the helmet colors and texture a little – take under consideration that three of these soldiers have just helmets and fourth has a tarpaulin on his helmet.
I really like the camo pattern you've painted.
@ Jesper - have a great time in Bangkok and that island you've written about! I did not have a vacation since two years or so...

Hello Guys,
I've managed to post some pictures of my parachute-landed ASU-57.
Unfortunately I had no time to finalize the soldier...It has to be kitbashed from resin kits.(I do not know if there is any manufacturer who offers soviet tankers from the '50s or the '60s)
http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/15239/2989579500103240328S600x600Q85.jpg" BORDER="0">
And with the extension I can work on the soldier...

Hi
Have finished my build apart from adding some 82nd Airborne Div patches to there shoulders. Too small for my shaky hands. Will add some pic's once I've added the decals.

I'm very happy to inform you that after a long break I've returned to Airborne campaign build.
I'm still painting figures and I've started preparing layout for dioramas.
I want to build two of them: one from Italian front with 4 Falschirmjaegers with mortar next to ruined church wall; second will show for 4 Falschirmjaegers (what a surprise ) smoking in some Ardennes forest, standing next to the anti-tank obstacle and some barbed wire.
I hope to post some pics soon.
Once again: please keep your pictures 800x600 (or 600x800) and in as good quality as possible so we could make a nice feature to show our work!

If you have any suggestions or remarks I'd be happy to read them.

Thought I wasn't going to be able to finish, but luckily I did. This is a Series 77 Miniature. Scale is 75mm I believe. Base coated with acrylics with oils for the shadows and hi-lights. I used a set of decals I acquired years ago for the eyes. I like the way theywent down and how they looked. The 82d Abn should patch came from an old verlinden sheet. I posted a pic in the gallery too. Thanks for looking. "Q"

"Nice shot, Red4!" Few more like that and DeathStar is going to blow (however it sounds like... )
Seriously now: great job Matthew! I do like the paint-job. Are the eyes really a decals? Did they included eyebrows as well?
Could you post also a picture showing whole diorama?
Once again: great job!

Thanks for the kudos on the build. There isn't a whole lot to it, but here is the best shot I have of it. I scratchbuilt the stone wall from two part epoxy putty. The tree is the root from a sapling. Thanks again for the kudos. "Q"

Thanks again for picture Matthew.
I'd like to remind you all :please post your pictures 800x600 (or 600x800) so we can present them all as a photo feature when campaign is over
I've almost finished groundworks on my first diorama, camo on figures is painted (now I'm painting equipment) so I hope to have first diorama finished this week and the second one ready in first week of May.
Maybe I'll make some small tree for one of dioramas as well.
Now I'm thinking on how to make post-rain effect (you know, how to make everything looking wet...).

I've been thinking about making some of my dios "wet" but never have enough courage. I think general rules are:
Uniforms should be darker in wet places (shoulders for example),
wet colours become more vivid (so less tonning downvia filters etc),
moisture/water is shiny so whole dio should be coated with Pronto floor polish,
puddles (made of thin layer of Vicol white glue coated with a layer of floor polish or just few layers of floor polish) should guide viewers.
Hmm, sounds really easy, I will have to try that one day.

Yeah, sure, it SOUNDS easy...
I was thinking about attacking whole diorama with airbrush and gloss coat sprayed from zenithal position (it would keep areas under the tree and bushes "dry") . Puddles will be done with some Vallejo water.
All colors will be a bit darker than usually, that should suggest cloudy weather).
I'm only thinking on figures... cloths should be a bit darker on wet areas but should they be shiny? I think I will start with delicate application of matt coat placed on the shoulders and other wet areas leaving dry areas not covered with coat. As even matt coat lefts the surface a bit darker and less matt that matt humbrol paint it may do the job.
We will see... If it won't work I will just have to repaint all figures and diorama

Clothes rather shouldn't be shiny (unless it's rubber or leather). Maybe try only dark filter (base colour + a bit of dark brown) on places that supposed to be wet. Pls remember that filter should be applied on matt surface and paint should be very dilluted. After a coat or two you'll be able to if it's the way you should go. Progress pics would help

If you've starded your dio after November 1st you're free to join (some details mentioned in rules may had been done before campaign's start). You still have two weeks to finish your diorama.
Welcome!

John, do you have a map for area you are showing, or do you use GPS to find your figures? Man, that's huge... I'd like to have apartment big enough to build this kind of dioramas in 1/35...
Great job so far (I did not think you are going to actually build this ).
I'm still working on my first dio. Groundwork is done and vegetation is also almost done.
Don't worry - this is not final state .
Constructive feedback will be appreciated.

Andrzej, Thanks it's actually 1/72nd I'd love to be doing it in 1/35th. But $$. As for feedback the ground work and vegation looking good. I would make them leaves a little bit smaller. If thier bigger then the figs hand I'd scale them down. It's hard to tell with out a fig being on it to compare

John,
Well, $$ and surface necessary... 1/72 has it's advantages for sure...
Concerning leaves... - good point, I've figure that out when I was looking at these pictures and wandering what I did wrong... sometimes it's easier to spot something wrong on a picture than in nature.
Anyway, I've grinded these leaves a little more, they look much better now. Thanks for a tip mate!
I'm still painting my figures.

Nice layout for the diorama, John. The pictures are a bit fussy. Any chance of a clearer picture as the build progresses?
