@ Ron,
The tracks are one of best sides of this model from my point of view... It sure is not the best kit Dragon made... .
@ All,
What do you think about extending the campaign to 08.05.2009 (date easy to remember, capitulation of Germany, my son's birthday ).

Thanks for the comments on my ground work. Bigger pictures will become available when more is done on this diorama.
Ron, the fallschirmsjaeger camo ended up quite OK, but I simply did not make the "rain" lines on the figures. I tried with a pencil but it did not look convincing and much to overscale for my eyes, so I left them out all together.
Andrzej, I agree with you. I can also promise you it is the last time I order from that model store on the internet. Very unconvinient and extremely bad service.

Hmmm, it's been pretty quiet in this campaign lately..
So, let me show you my progress untill now.
The KettenKrad has received its tracks and because of those it sits strangely high, causng the frontwheel to float in mid air. It has also been painted and weathered. The PaK is finished too. I gave them both a wash and drybrush with white in order to try and achieve a cold look to it.
I also finished the KIA German and am painting the para's now.
I am deliberately using dark and/or pale colours, so that it all looks dark and cold.
When all is painted and put into place I will add the snow to both vehicles and figures.

Ron,
It looks really nice! Dead soldier looks quite realistic - nice job. It's hard to make figure look lifeless (or more lifeless since we're talking about life of plastic thing ).

Chas,
War at Pacific as usually . I really like your jungle works as always. Whole idea is great as well.
Could you translate the subscription? I don’t know Japanese except for “good morning”, “good bye”, “thank you so very much” and “1,2,3,4” which are not very helpful here

Shaun, thanks for your comment mate.
G'day Andrzej, thanks for providing me with an excuse to make more jungle foliage!
Interesting story about the title. This morning I was wondering about an appropriate title, so I did some research on the old Japanese dialogue "Kanji". To say the least I was very surprised to find "Yabuhebi" - meaning "a snake in the bush". The word is used in Japanese superstition, meaning to reap ill fortune from an unnecessary act. It comes from the likelihood that poking a bamboo bush (yabu) may flush a snake. I thought this was a perfect title for the vignette!

Yes!!
I managed to do it again!
I finished another campaign before it's deadline.
I painted the 3 U.S. 101 Airborne-figures and did the snowy setting too!
the first part wasn't as hard as I thought, the second one was.... I used the natrium-bicarbonate-way and I must say that for a first time I am not al that dissatisfied with the endresult.
I took some pictures tonight, under artificial light and with a suitable dark background. Unfortunately during the shoot the figure on the left fell over and broke off the barel of the BAR...
But here's what it looks like right ow:
I touched up the last picture to show more details. I will make more detailshots tomorrow, usng natural light. But these show the atmosphere I wanted to create better.

Well, here are, as promised, the final pictures in daylight.
I added the broken barrel and painted the pouches on the sergeant's M1, which I had forgotten.
I also tried to correct the brownish colouration, caused by the bicarbonatemix coming into contact with the natural twigs. As a final step I set up the dio and used a suitable background.

Wow! That looks great, Ron. I really like the look of the dead soldier and the ground work.
Chas, that is an original idea with the snake. Very nice expression on the soldiers face
I am moving forward a little on my diorama as well and expect to finish by the original end date.
More to follow....

@ Ron,
Diorama is looking very good! It is simple, tells a story, and I like the atmosphere you've created (especially with a backdrop you;ve used).
@Jesper
I'm curious to know where your diorama is going to, groundwork looks really good already!

Thanks for the comment, Andrzej.
I have almost finished the diorama. All the figures are in place. I only need a few finishing touches and the motorbike. It should be finished this week.
More to follow soon.

Here is my finshed Airbourne diorama with a Jagdtiger supported with Fallschirmsjaeger. The figures are Tamiya and Dragon, the Jagdtiger is the 1/35 late version from Dragon.

@Jesper,
Very nice diorama. Once again you've managed to achieve the mud effect that makes me check my shoes if they are covered with mud...
I do like it.
BTW, what will you do in Bangkok (except for models )?
@ All
I've just asked Mark for an extension so we have planty of time - up to 08.05.2009.

Hej Jesper,
nice going on the figures, the motorcycle and the tank!
As for the groundwork; the mud looks good, but the ground itself looks a bit barren. It could use some plants, grasses and such. Maybe a few rocks or branches?
As for the rest: you've got an extensio, so let's see some mre (finished) builds!
COME ON, YOU GUYS!!!

Here is my entry, Fallschirmjäger with 8 cm motar, somewhere in Italy 1944.
It is the dragon set build OOB, unfortunately the faces in the set is not that good, so not able to get much expresion in them.
cheers

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I appreciate it.
Ron, I was going for the look of an barren field with fallen leaves and grass, but it is not too visible in the pictures actually, but they are there.
I agree it might look to barren. I am considering adding something between the Jagdtiger and the Wall. Maybe just some fuel and ammunition supplies or maybe a 7,5 cm PAK stored under the tree and wall to hide it from the air until being put in action.
Jes, very nice small scene. I like the action packed look of the scene and the camouflage patterns on the fallschirmsjaeger. I think a careful and heavily thinned light brown wash might bring out more expression on the faces.
Andrzej, I will be in Bangkok 3-4 days just for shopping and sightseeing. After that 10 days in the sun with the girlfriend on a small island with an unspoiled beach away from the normal tourist traps.
