Thanks for the tips on the camouflage. This was the approach I took as well, but it seems like you guys are better at squares and triangles than I am.

How did you make the vertical "rain" lines? Pencil or brush?

I used a brush, but using a pencil may be a good idea - I will give it a try. Using brush is a pain in the a#s when you want to paint thin line on not plain surface

I used an allmost dry brush.... or is it more like a wet drybrushing???
I guess you get the idea...

Oh yeah.... a steady hand is very handt, too, so no coffee before or during the striping!

My hands are shaking WITHOUT coffee - I need coffee or beer (strange alternative, uh?) to calm down shaking

I can understand why the beer might work....

So, my halftrackcampaignbuild (great scrabble word, 3x wordvalue) is completed. Now I can commit myself to going for this one, again.
Just a halftrack with miniscule tracklinks and pads, a bit of snow and some figures to paint...

So no worries here.....

Ron,
I'm painting figures for Airborne campaign, Kettenkrad for HT (I still have to make tracks and apply weathering for it) and building Leopold gun... I have no idea what will be the final effect since my desk is not big enough for Leopold not mentioning rest of projects...

I think I will try with a thin pencil or maybe not do them at all. I am not sure they would be visible as other than shadows in this scale. Looking at pictures the lines seem to be 3-4 mm wide in real life making them 0,11 mm wide in 1/35. I need a really sharp pointed pencil

I am still waiting for my MiG products to be able to finish my Jagdtiger and before I finish my Jagdtiger I cannot finish the diorama. This is going to be tight.

Well, from my point of view they give just "total look" not detailed lines.... I put them anyway even if they are overscaled and barely visible.

Yeah, I agree. I will also try to make them with a pencil. After all one could argue that many small lines close to each other in real life will look like a single line in 1/35.

Jesper,
Please post some pictures of pencil raindrop marks when you try to do them.
I think that only soft pencil is able to draw on the paint without damaging it...

I have now finished my Fallschirmsjaegers and a motorcycle driver for the diorama.

Andrzej, I tried the pencil solution to the "rain" lines. It did not work. The lines became way to big and could probably be made just as good by a fine brush. In the end I decided the avoid the lines altogether as I could not find a good way to do them.

Now I am just waiting from my goods from Modelhobbies to finish the diorama and Jagdtiger. It has been more than 7 weeks since they debited my credit card and still they have not sent the order

More to follow...

This motorcycle driver looks familiar... Tamiya, King Tiger kit with DKW motorcycle?

Yeps, He is going to shout instructions to the commander of the Jagdtiger in the diorama. I still have to paint the motorcycle. It looks more daunting than I expected due to all the small nooks and crannies.

i hope this gets into the forum as a photo for the campaign. im not very computer savy. if it does i call this little vingette wounded eagle at ST. MARIE DU MONT. read a book on the 101st in Normandy and this vingette comes from a true story from that book.

Here's Rick's picture

The idea is great! I really like the story. Mud wall beyond the figures looks kinda strange, but I really like it anyway.

Rick,
When you have the link in this form http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/24146/thumbs/054_54.jpg you have to remove /thumbs part or it will effect with thumbnail size picture.
After this step you should have link in http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/24146/054_54.jpg form.
Next thing you have to do is to put [ i m g ] (remove spaces - I had to add them to have the code visible) in front of the link and [ / i m g ] and the end of link.
It should result with this nice picture visible for everybody:

Well, it's about time I posted an update again, too.
Ive been working on the figures, which received their basic paint coat.
I also added the final load to the Kettenkrad and filled up the gaps in the vehicle.
But the main effort went to the PaK, to which I added an turned metal barrel and a PE gunshield. The latter showed me again why I really don't like PE. Fiddling with small metalparts, which have CA o them, really isn't "my thing"....
For the metal barel I had to cut off the plastic one and drill out the rail in order to take the round shape.
Anyway, here are the latest pictures of my achievements;
The load on the KettenKrad:

The basic Tamiya PaK and it's extra's;

The "metalized" PaK;

And the PaK with the white sheet added. I did this because the controls of the Tamyia kit really looked horrible, mainly because reused an old kit from times when I wasn't that careful in assembling it!!

Nice work, Ron!
Kettenkrad is Dragon's, right? I'm building one right now for HT campaign.

Looks good, Ron. Almost too bad to cover most of that nice gunshield, but on the other hand a small price to pay to cover Tamiya's bad controls.

I have now stopped waiting for the MiG products I ordered from ModelHobbies 8 weeks ago. They debited my credit card right away, but they still have to send the goods.

I am making progress on the diorama and hope to be able to meet the deadline. More to follow...

@Jesper,

Nice groundwork - it's going to be a very nice diorama!
It's a pitty with your MIGs... I don't trust shops that charge one's credit card before shipment. Fortunatelly shops I usually buy at charge my card in the very moment of shipment so whent my credit is higher than yesterday I know that I will have my model tomorrow .

@ Everybody
BTW, I have traditional question to everyone involved: WHO NEEDS EXTENSION?
Time period for this campaign was not very long and I didn't see many finished project yet so that may be good idea. What do you think about that?

Since I'm involved in my K5 Leopold project I may be needing extension myself....

H Andrzej
yes, I read you were building that one, too.
I must admit tha I'm not too impressed wit dragon's quality on this one. Loads of gaps and places the fill. The tiny tracks are really horrible, so small!! But then, everything is small on this thing..

@ Jesper: Your build looks cool! But the pictures are a bit small (or my yes are getting old ). How is the camouflagepattern on the Fallschirmjäger coming along?

An extension?? Hell, I'm working my but off to get my entry finished in time!!
But it might be a wise thing to do... the extension, that is, not working my but off.
