Nice progress! Haven't spend a lot of time on my Mexas lately....little time and not much motivation to work on a difficult project. Seeing your progress however gives new motivation. Time to get started again

Looking forward to see next update.

HIi Ciro,
Thanks in your commended.
I use Leo 1A5 from Revell, for second I use Leo 1A2 fro Italeri. Next sets I used as Rick from MLM. This is very nice conversion sets. I for now donť plan any conversion for Leo 1, but maybe for future. I plan some for Leo 2 but this is surprise.

Hey Miloslav

Great work ma man!!

You say you're going to be mounting a mine plough? Are you going to scratch build it? Manuipulate a mine plough from a donor kit? ... have something up your sleeve...??? Just curious on how you're going to tackle that... I'm ready to start my Leo C2 with MEXAS but I want to do a mine plough on mine but I'm waiting for a conversion set for a Canadian version mine plough for the Leo C2.

It's my understanding that the Abrams mine plough, and the Merkava mine plough are close but incorrect for a Leo C2 given the mounting brackets. Perhaps there's someone out there that could clarify for me... or has some insight on how to go about correcting one for Canadian armour.

Or were you referring to a dozer blade?? I'm all ears!!

Hi.

I today good look on plough. C2 have only small similar as Abrams. I thin about new plough as resin set.
I have some photos on Dozer Blade. This is also very interested.

Regarding the mine plough, from what I understand it is slightly different from the Abrams one. I've been sweeping the internet for info and also looked at the mine plough. Came across one or two sites where the differences are explained, will try to find them. Think I also came across a modelling project of the plough, using the Abrams plough with several corrections. Might be interesting for reference.

Btw for my MEXAS I have the Mouse House Enterprises dozer kit. In case anyone needs more info on this kit, let me know!

Hey Miloslav

I've seen the pending release fo your Leo C2, Leo C2 with MEXAS and Leo 2A6M books... what are the release dates for those? They look spectacular!! Can't wait to get a copy of each! Thanks!

That's great news on the plough, and thanks for the information and reference posted. I think I'll be a modelling parasite and watch everyone else build and take in all the lessons learned and wait for the plough before tackling my Leo C2 with MEXAS. Keep up the great work everyone!!

Guys,

Other than the commonality of the Israeli original design of the mine plow the versions used on the Abrams and the Leopard 1 are different in many ways.

- different frames...Abrams round, Leopard square
- different motors
- Abrams plow tynes and mould boards are wider....count the tynes....teeth.
- different electrical connections
- headlight mounts
- different hull mounts

If you use the Abrams plow you need to essential rebuild the entire thing.

The mine rollers are also different.....different size and different hull mounts

Mouse House Enterprises has an excellent Leopard 1 dozer blade kit.....perfect for a Canadian Leopard C1 or C2.

I hope that clears things up.

Well Troops I actually had some time today to sit at the work bench

Have been able to get the preliminary work done on the turret's blanket. Ended up using Miliput white putty. We'll let this harden and see what happens LOL.

I also recieved from Real Models the excellent photo-etch fret for the C2 Mexas. This bad boy is a real time saver, especially for the electronics box on the rear turret bins. Thanks Milo!

cheers

That sounds great Milo, getting your MEXAS PE set in the mail was the motivation I needed to get back to the workbench.

Thanks Shane, you will need a few things to build a C2 MEXAS, the Leopard 1A5 from Revell (good luck), Maple Leaf Models conversion sets number 1010 and 1031, and the PE set from Real Models.

You can also check out this early MEXAS build by Jim Carswell Here

Nice work there, Rick!

Thanks for taking the time to post your progress here. It will surely come to good use as I start my own build sometime in the future. I got hold of an Leo 1A5 this summer (for around 15 Euro ). Now I have to collect all the other things needed for the project. Have anybody heard anything regarding the re-opening of Maple Leaf Models?

Cheers,
/E

Thanks for the interest! A 1A5 for 15 bucks is a steal!

Tonights small update, started placing the photo etch from Eduard on the rear hull and have most of the mine roller bra finished, just the attachment points for the roller arms to install.

Another quick update!

Started on the hull side MEXAS parts. Built the MEXAS mounting points from evergreen U-channel and bar stock, and used the ones from the MLM C2 conversion for the front ones.
