It's not that bad if your just building a straight gun tank. If I was it would be done by now LOL. Having to scratch build the bra is a pain, although I hear that a certain someone in Calgay might be working on a master...

Hi,

Maple Leaf Models (www.mapleleafmodels.com) produces the conversion set for the Leopard C2 and the MEXAS package.

Cheers,

Great work Rick !

I have the kit and the conversion(s) also, so it'll be coming up soon.

What paints will you be using for the base coat ?

I want to use Tamiya acrylics but I'm unsure about the mix

Cheers

Hey Paul,

I will be using Tamiya's NATO green for the base straight from the bottle. This tank will be heavily weathered and I don't think much of the actual base colour will be recognizable LOL. Also whatever parts of the C2 hull that can be seen, such as the engine deck will be 3 tone NATO cam just to add some variety, again heavily weathered. I might mix some white with the base colours for some shading effects, but this is done on the fly so I can't say "I used this much base with this much white..." it all comes down to what feels right at the time LOL.

Here's another pic of the bra. I replaced the miliput weld beads with styrene rod, a little more to scale.

This might be my last update for a while as I just got the word that i'm posted to Kingston with a COS of 14 Sept. This might put a hamper on any bench time for the immediate future, but we'll see, I would still like to finish this for the CAPCON show in Ottawa.

I got a Revell Leopard finally. So I'll start on one of these soon. Rick I can't view the MLM site so I was wondering if the Mexas kit has all the parts or do I need to get stuff else where? I will pick up the Real Models PE set and the barrel from Perfect Scale. What else is needed to do the best Canadian Leopard.

You need the two sets from MLM, the C2 and the MEXAS. HKCW indy tracks are awesome as well, really hate the rubber bands in the kit. They are a little time consuming but in my opinion well worth it.

Are you going to do the thermal blankets?

Great and inspiring blog. That Revell kit seems to be impossible to find. I will wait for the Italery re-release.

I here ya. If/when Italeri re-releases the 1A5 it sure will make a little easier.

Just a reminder guys for those of you that are trying to build a C2 MEXAS.....you can also use the Italeri Leopard 1A2 kit....it is actually a Leopard 1A1......it will work just as well for the base kit if you can't find the 1A5 kit.

You will need the MLM C2 conversion, the MLM C2 MEXAS conversion, and the MLM Leopard 1A5 conversion parts......simple as pie.
