Ok fellow modelers, the time is coming, two more days and we are in bussines, I will need a volunteer, someone who can look in the face of danger and laugh, -is either that, or run very fast
- someone who can stand sleep deprivation, eat once a day (same goes for the bathroom), doesn't care if he is devoid of human contact for long periods of time; well, you get the idea, he will be my right hand (I'm left handed
) in this campaign. Anyone?
Happy Modeling
Byron
P.D.: He also has to know a thing or two about the Panzer IV. that is the point? right?

In other matters. isn't anyone around here that may have an "easy" way to paint those little road wheels, I mean, there are 32 of those little suckers. the one with the better idea will become a hero around here, his name will be remember in eons to come, childs will be name after him, virgins will be sacrifice -after they pass the exam by the ModelMaster- and by the way, send your request to become one; a ModelMaster, not a virgin

Ok!! we have a winner,
grayghost666 has offer himself to take the bullet and be my XO (whatever that means); he will be cooperating with me in order to keep this campaign going. Just remember that this if for fun and if posible stay clear of the feared AMS. This vehicle is great for a campaign, plenty of versions, theaters, schemes, variants, etc. the problem will be choosing, so take it easy and enjoy your model.
Happy Modeling
Byron
P.D.: off course I know what a XO is!!, I have seen Crimson Tide, twice!!.
, and I say this before the shooting (at me) begins.

Hello All,
Remember that the Pz IV was used in the middle east after WW2,
So there are possibles beyond just WW2.

I have decided to go for the Zvezda/Italeri Ostwind for this campaign. Research have started and work is to commence tomorrow
It is definitely going to to be a fictive Ostwind with hardedge camo, as I have not been able to find that many pictures.
More to follow soon.

I'm thinking about a Dragon Kugelblitz, a late camo scheme, I think only five of this were ever made, some sources say that at least two were in the Battle of Berlin. so will check on those schemes, or maybe an ambush one, or a winter wash or......
better check references.

Byron, with things so unsure during the last months of the war and references so scarce it gives you a lot of room for improvisation.
I will use some artistic license for my Ostwind despite having some references in the pictures below. Apparently some Ostwinds were used in the defence of Berlin and Prague.
I will go for a hard edged camo despite the pictures seem to indicate sprayed camo on some of the Ostwinds. There is more of a late war feel to hard edged camo.

Jesper, I have so far seem three schemes:
a.- hard edge stripes of the three standard colors.
b.- overall green with red brown spots.(Berlin defence)
c.- overall green with dunkelgelb stripes. see picture
I tend to like this one the most. but don't know how much "true" or what background it came from. but as you say, there is room for "improvisation",
I will start my building tomorrow, getting all ready.
Happy modeling to you all

Ok Guys,
Here is a quick progress update from yesterday and this morning on my Jadgpanzer. Got the lower have built and primed
Still working on the upper half hopefully I'll get some primer on that this afternoon
Don't know yet if I'm gonna use the schurzen but I put the brackets for it on any way. I might cut it up and add a smaller piece or 2 to each side
Never realized just how long the barrel was on this thing

Hi Guys...
I just got started. It's a beautiful day here in New Jersey, so I decided to go outside. I put the rear panel on and put the road wheels together.

Hi guys,
Quick question here for those building or familiar with older Tamiya kits.
The problem:
The plastic seems a little harder and appears to have an oily film on it.
The Question;
Did Tamiya change their plastic formula and how do you get ride of the film?
A friend suggested soaking the spruces in warm soaps water, anybody ever use this method?

Hey Sal,
Not sure about the hardness of the plastic, but oily mould-release residue can be washed away with dishwashing liquid and water. Just fill a big bowl (or the kitchen sink) with luke-warm water and a squirt of wash-up liquid and put all the sprues in to soak for a few minutes. Then, you can very gently scrub them with a soft brush to help shift the grease and finish off by rinsing each sprue under clean running cold water. If the parts are particularly loose or delicate you'll be better off with a bowl to keep things from escaping down the drain!
The grease won't stop you building the kit, but it will keep paint from sticking - especially acrylics.
Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the quick response there. For a minuet I thought my mind was playing tricks on me
I think a nice disposable cooking pan will do to keep from losing the small parts.

Hi All. I also started on my build last night, mostly cleaned up all the parts. As Stated above I use dishwashing liquid (Dawn)in warm water, I let the sprues soak about 10 minutes as I swish them around and rinse, then let them air dry. I do this with all kits not just Tamiya .
Looking forward to seeing all these builds come together. Good Luck and Keep On Building, milvehfan

Hi, I've enlisted and will be doing the Academy Pz IV H. I guess its not a kit to get anyone drooling or excited, but then I thought of keeping to a simple kit so I can manage the timelines and complete within the campaign period. Plan to use their individual links; I have some leftover turret schurzen that am thinking of using as well. Still haven't decided on the finish, though I have a couple of ideas in mind. On with the build then. Cheers, and good luck to our projects -- Tat
