Hi Guys,

Here's the Cromwell Tank Riders I'm currently working on. Progress is slow but here's where I'm at at the moment. They are just balanced on some boxes but you can see a Churchill could hold 10/12 easily.

Don't know what tank they will finally end up on but I'm quite keen to get them done.

Thanks for the comments guys, but I am no where near where I want to be with painting figures. I keep looking at my pictures and wish I had dusted them off a bit better before shooting them. The 4 US soldiers directly behind the horse riders will be in a diorama soon for the Miniart Campaign.

Al,
Great looking tank riders. I wish they would a big set like that for WWII US riders. I've seen German and now British, but haven't seen US.

Hi Pete,

Thanks, the Cromwell set above has been OOP for some years, Graham at Resicast has just produced 4 new figs which are also above. I believe 8 more are planned.

In plastic MasterBox have a set of british Desert Tank Riders listed and HobbyFan did 4 resin ones for the Churchill a short while ago.

I've seen some US troops, if I can remember who made them, but there was a set fo 4 figs I think.

Hopefully we will get a set of plastic ones for NWE at some point.

Ah, a little searching and I though I was right DML did a set of 4 US Tank Riders - look pretty good here's the link

Yea, Alan, I have those, as a matter of fact, they are going on the dio I mentioned above. I will shoot some pics of them this weekend. To bad there are only four, would be nice to have a bunch on a sherman like you see in some of the old pictures.

Hi Pete,

If it is a standing tank could you not use some of the figs from the Advance to the Rhine set? I was planning on mixing both at some point for the back of a Churchill. That would fill it up a bit but I get you're drift about needing more lol, lol.

I lost one of the 4 riders, well, my cat lost one of them, so I used a a figure from another Dragon set and a Jaguar figure and it filled up the back nicely. I want to do another Sherman, so I might just do that next time.

Hi Guys,

A bit more work on my tank riders. I shall have to make some custom seating for a few of them when I decide where they are going to live. Finishing them as Grenadier Guards.

Does uploading a photo to this thread automatically go into the Kitmaker Campaign photo gallery?

I've known some campaigns where a ribbon is only awarded if the photo is in the Kitmaker Gallery since threads disappear over time.

Here is my attempt. Dragon Marines at Guadalcanal. Painted with Golden artist acrylics for the faces and Polyscale for the uniforms. Still a WIP. Let me know on the colors as I'm giving it my best guess on matching the color call out.

Hi Russ,

Coming along well. I can't help on the basic colour as I don't know much about American Uniforms.

They are a nice looking set of figures.

Well, my 'Afrika Korp' diorama with the painted crew is on "Hold' for now. But my other diorama project with a Tamiya Hetzer in Ardennes with Panzergrenadiers is coming along better so I'm focusing on it. Not much modeling time available while I'm coaching two Baseball teams but need a break once in a while. Anyway, Hetzer was done before, but looked pretty lonely on the diorama base, so I scrounged through my Dragon figures and came up with a couple I think will fit well advancing with the Hetzer. These are pretty close to being done, just some touch up and weathering left I think. Well, see how it comes out.

Sorry about figures photo. Will be better next time.

Hello Gentlemen!

Some great work in here so far.

I finally decided to make my entry into this campaign... Had to get a project to a stage where it was ready for figures. I'm painting this tank crew for my super pershing which I'm building for the Tank overhaul campaign. Here are the figures primed with Skull White:

I painted them yesterday with Vallejo acryllics. Tonight I'll be working on the faces and hands. I use the method described by James Cann in his article here on Armorama and also add some washes for the lowlights and some drybrushing for the highlits.

The first is a Tamiya figgie that comes with the M8 and M20, an overhaul in itsself, I'm repainting it.

Second is a Verlinden figure:

And the last one (another overhaul) I'm not sure, I think it's from Warriors. Not sure if the scarf is too colorful but I'm hoping it will add some color to my M26.

So please, any comments and tips welcome!

Cheers!

Looking good Marcin. Gotta love cats... Got two of them myself... But so far the only cat hair on my models was whiskers for antennaes.

So here's my progress of yesterday evening:

A few more details to add and they'll be ready I think. The eyes were the most difficult, tried it with a toothpick, too thick. Then I used a needle but still I had to paint over some. Not perfect, but better than last time... Any tips on that matter?

Cheers!

How are you doing that. I have two cats too and it's impossible to get rid of hair. They love to sleep on my modelling chair (often when I'm sitting on it) but luckly they do not get on my desk (at least not often).

Hi guys,

Well my contribution has been added to the gallery, just about used up my space.

This has been a really productive campaign, got lots of stuff done and enjoyed all the other builds too.

Time to move onto some more armour though, or a truck or two.

Cheers and well done to all, still a month to go I think?

Here are my second in-progress photos of the 1/35 Esci-Ertl German assault engineers with Goliath that I am building for this campaign.

I still have a lot to do but I thought I would show everyone where I am at so far.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you Alan.

I am definitely not a figure painter but I guess everyone has to start somewhere. I am hoping that they will turn out alright.

Thanks again,

Another great lot of additions, gentlemen!

@ Russ; Marines are turning out great! I think that getting that weird greentone of their uniforms is quite a challenge. Skintones look good!
@Mike; please do post better pictures. I'd love to see those camouflageschemes!
@ Stefan; Tankcrew is shaping up good! I like the addition of the red scarf a lot. Breaks up the monotonous sands and greens!
@Marcin; Nice figures! Do you have any plans for the tankcommander?
@ Randy; great progress on those figures. I have them myself with the SWS-kit from Otaleri and I was not impressed by their overall quality. You make them look good.
@ Alan; thanks for your contributions and comments, Alan. They are both much appreciated!! Untill the next campaign we meet in!!

As for me, I am just glad I finished my entries and dio in time. I have hit a serious low in my modellingdays. Haven't touched on in 6 or 7 weeks. Didn't read anything either and even the Twenotshow at the Overloonmuseum with running material didn't change that!!
