here is an in progess pic of what i'm working on. Its a german MP with a dispatch rider and there will be some walls and a gate in the background.
I'm not much of a figure painter and these are pretty much my first serious foray into this area.

Looks good to me. Figure painting can be daunting at first, but I recommend trying to perfect it as it can really bring a diorama to life. I wasn't good at first, but I devoted a lot of time studying articles and practicing. I feel there aren't any shortcuts in figure painting; the rewards on the other hand are immense. Keep at it.

@ Brett; Amazing painting, Brett! You'd hardly recognise these figures as Tamiyapieces. Very well done!
Thank you for the compliment. For an old set, the cooks have well defined faces. I think one or two of the soldiers are from the bicycle set. Only the soldier with the cap about to receive food has a resin head. Pretty good for styrene.

Wow - some fine figures being painted up.
Mike > the Hetzer's looking good (add to 'to do' list).
Brett > what technique do you use for the flesh tones? Thta old set has come up a treat.
I have now 99.9% completed my contribution - couple of tweaks & then will get some pics posted.

Hi all,
I feel ashamed to post my work between such great entires in this thread. Anyway, it's high time to show my efforts and progress. Figures are almost finished, just few touches left but I'm still working on the ground and base.

Aloha All,
Wow, some very good work posted for this campaign. Neither my painting nor my photography are up to snuff, but here is some progress never the less.
I'm using four figures from Tamiya's 1/48th scale WWII US Infantry at Rest (the one with the jeep... er, 1/4 ton utility vehicle...). I plan to make a small scene of these four having a conference over a map on the hood of the jeep. As this is my first time painting figures, I wanted to keep it simple, so I stuck to the ones that were most complete out of the box.
First Coats On
Base Coats
Shading and outlining on base colors.
I used Vallejo Model Color equivalents for the Tamiya colors specified in the instructions in most cases. The dark yellow on the one figure is still Tamiya and I haven't yet gotten full coverage on it after 3 coats. I'll try one more and the proceed anyway. So far I am happy with my progress.
Mahalo for looking and have a great day. Comments welcome.

Hi Guys,
Excellent stuff all around. This is a cracking campaign.
One more I might get done before close is this chap. The Accurate Armour Driver in Wellies. I was thinking of giving him a Sailors head. but undecided at the moment.
Not much progress on the Paras, maybe this weekend.
Cheers
Al

I finished a Bandai Wespe using Master Box 1/35 Panzer I tracks. Here is the unpainted Tamiya crew to man it:

Now that I remember how to post pics on the site, here are the painted crew members and their ride:
The Commander
The Private
The 1st NCO
The Second NCO
The completed vehicle.
I used Acrylic craft paints and Winsor & Newton Oils on the figures. I also obtained some very fine detail brushes (20/0) for the small details. The right brushes makes everything a lot easier.

Hi Guys,
Haven't posted on this tread in a while but i have been reading, learning and practicing. So here is one of my latest figures
I think it looks a lot better then what I was doing back in March. Still not completely satisfied with him as I look over the picture needs a little touches here and there.

I created this panzer crew using figures from a Tamiya Tiger kit, a tank repair crew kit, and a Michael Whittman I ordered separately.
the entire crew
figure from the tank repair crew
the Michael Whittman figure
from the panzer kit
Michael Whittman from the panzer kit
I used Tamiya's dark grey for the highlighting and shirts. For the faces, I used Testor's light tan on the raised areas and drybrushed Tamiya's flesh over that. The shadows were created using a brown water color. Now, all I need to do is finish putting the Tiger together and place the figures.

Hi Guys,
Some progress on the AA figure. I decided not to finish him as a sailor, the faces I had were to young and stern looking. I've opted for a soldier from 79th Armoured Division, though he might fit well with the D7 Dozer. Bit more work on the face required.

Greetings,
Well here's my finished entry.
I've had a lot of fun & enjoyed the new experience of painting with acrylics. So it's onto the next set of figures & the next campaign
Happy creating, Paul

Guys....
I am impressed.
When I see how much people have actively participated in this campaign and what great figures have been done...
Superb!
@ Delbert; I think the uniforms are a bit too green. I recommend Andrea's Fieldgrey and Vallejo's German uniform as a basis. These are more grey and you have 2 colours, so enough variation possibilities.
@ Gary; great dio you got there! Do you have some "in progress"-pics of those figures?
@ Michal; Nice little scene. Figures look good! Any WIP-shots here, too?
@ Zon; you are one of the few 1/48-builders! Great figures and the painting looks like done on a larger scale!
@ Jim; crew turned out good, especially for Tamiya figs.
It might be the pictures, but the paint looks a bit gritty?
@ Sal; Nice to see such and old figure still being used. You should do something about the eyes. They are way to big! A dark (brownish) edge over the outlines will tone them down and give the face caracter. Also some washes and highlights/drybrushes would give more depth and life to the figure.
@ Lap; These figures look very good! Can you please show some close ups and tell us how you did the colours?
@ Matt; Your pictures are quite blurry. Hard to comment on those. Figures like like the old Italeri ones?
@ Alan; what more can I sau about your figures, Alan? They look as good as ever!
@ Paul; I love the way your set turned out! Now comes the hard and scary part; weather them!
@ Rich; Powerfull little scene you got there! Figures look very good. Some WIP-pictures, please?

Well,
the finishline is in sight!
For all those who completed their figures, and these are many, please check if you did upload your pictures in the gallery!
And because this campaign turned out so well, I think we could take it to another level.
Check this out!

Yeah, I did few, but not many. Shall I post more pictures here? Most of the job I done with these figures was scultping instead of painting. Maybe I'll try to write short notes about techniques I used...

Bit of a late entry but seeing as the wife is away for the weekend, I should get it finished before the closing date. Football permitting !
Figure is from Dragon's "Battle of the hedgerows" set and is out of the box.
Smock colours are:
Base 821 German Camo Beige
Brown Splinters 826 German Camo Medium Brown
Green Splinters 895 Gunship Green
Rain Streaks 888 Olive Grey.
Apologies in advance if you have see this on the Historicus Forma site - blatant duplication !
