Hi folks,
@ MBR- I'm with ya buddy. Progress on this campaign for me has been sloooow. I've been building the Gepard for an age now, but along with other kits and campaigns.
If I stuck to the monotone bronxe green finish, I'd be finished weeks ago, but instead I'm trying to do something like this:
This is the first time using an airbrush to build up a camoflage pattern, but here's where it's at now:
As you can see, the pigments in the leather-brown have split. My mistake for using Revell Aqua. The scheme is building up slowly, but I'll get there.
I haven't built up the hull and turret yet as I want the camo to be seperate on the guns then on the turret. As the Gepard is skirted, I've done the lower hull monotone bronze green.
Keep building,
Eoin

Not sure if you know This from Panzerbär. It's the Flecktarn schemata for the Gepard. The side itself has quite a few plans for various modern stuff including MERDC.
Interesting that the Aquas still have problems. I read about some in 2008 when I restarted so I went Tamiya despite the Aquas being easier to get and having some good colors (Their Gelb-Olive is the only real match i.e). The three Tamiya Nato colors are a good match for Flecktarn and work.

Hi MBR,
Thanks for directing me to the Panzerbar website. There's a lot more bronzrgreen in the scheme than I was using- something I hope to rectify.
The problem I have with Revell Aqua is that I thinned it with Halford's Screenwash and not the official Aqua thinner (which is very difficult to get hold of). Halford's Screenwash works great with most acryllics, apart from (suprise suprise) Revell and Tamiya acryllics.
I much prefer Vallejo acryllics, especially Vallejo Air, so I'm probably going to try and get my hands on Vallejo's version of leatherbrown to finish the camo scheme.
Thanks again,
Eoin

Aloha All,
After too much time I finally got some fins on my missiles.
I think some of them are even almost straight

I'll be doing a combination of the Tamiya Cargo Truck (Opel), with a masterpiece Models Flak Sled holding a Dragon 2cm Flak 38.
I've made good progress with the truck, it's a really simple kit, but will need a good bit of finishing (which is my weakness). The same is true of the sled, just a few handles and such, then lots of finish painting.
The flak is an incredibly fiddly little kit, especially if you use the PE. There are these TINY "eyes" on the front of the shield. My old eyes can barely see them. I'll give it a go, there's always the plastic as a fall-back. Any clues on how to deal with this would be appreciated.
This is my first time posting pictures in a forum, I hope these come out.
I guess not, I'll work on this tomorrow. tried to use Picasa upload, but it's making an https URL

I finally got one picture to show after using flickr, then photobcket.
However, now that the picture shows I can't edit anymore, so here's two more. Too big?

Dave, I was looking at that sled a month or so ago and was surprised at how little the kit came with. I look forward to seeing how you like it.

Dave: the sled looks good. I can feel your pain on the tiny bits...
Mark: Looking super cool! Nothing like a smallish tank with a huge gun on it!

Mark- that self propelled 88 looks positively evil- Targets shoot back, and then when it's cloudy take out some armour formations as well! Can't wait to see it finished!

Slowly the Duster comes together:
I will likely cut the flash suppressors and use the picture of this duster as an idea for the vignette

Hi MBR,
The duster is really coming along- love the PE, especially on the turret!

Yes, the Eduard kit is really worth the money. I just dread the footmans loops that come with it. Some 30+ IIRC.

Neal: Looking good. I've got one half built and you are inspiring me to get back at it.
Meier: Your Duster is progressing well and your photo looks like the basis for a very nice vignette.

Thanks to Vallejo, I finally got my Gepard turret looking good:

Aloha All,
I got my tracks on, but one side is not quite right yet. Nothing some liquid cement and a hammer can't fix.

Here's my Revell Sdkfz 10/5 OOB and all painted up, I missed a few ejector pin marks but otherwise I'm happy with it.

Hey folks,
@ Neal- your Skdfz 10/5 is looking great. Great job on the camo scheme (I'm assuming it's an Afrika Korps scheme- but hey I've been wrong many times in the past!).
@ Zon- tracks are coming along- are the l&l, vinyl or individual links? I had a run in with l&l tracks recently and I came out the worst of that one!
Anywho, here's a few photo's of my Gepard in daylight:
The hatch needs about seven more coats to get it right!
Here's the hull awaiting tracks...
Almost there, just need MUD, lots of mud!
