general idea... still need to figure out how I'm going to mount the radar..

Probably end up adapting the DCA unit somehow.

It will be marked as a Cent Twin Forty, 4 AD Regt RCA out of 4 Brigade in Germany circa 1975.

I'm not familiar with this vehicle Graeme, but I like the work you're doing here. Look forward to seeing your next move.

Cheers,

I've added some cast texture to the turret:

Looks good, Greame. A very unusual vehicle. Looking forward to see more.

Nice choice with the aluminium barrels, Len. I think they will really add some extra detail to the model.

I have finally started working on my SWS with Flak 43. So far a good kit although the link and length tracks only have the exact number of links to be used. It would have been nice to have some spare links, but it worked out for me none the less.

More to follow.

Hi Paul,

Great to see the Gepard!

I got one ages ago but I've only recently started it! Of course I started with the turret sub components first!

A bit of filling, sanding and filing required but nothing too strenuous. The smoke dischargers on the turret require a bit of fiddley filing but that (so far) is the only drawback.

I'm probably going to paint the cannons seperate from the hull and when they are all painted then attach them.

Good luck with turret build! Time is tight with me so my finished Gepard won't probably be finished until hours before the campaign is due to end!

Hey Eoin !

Nice progress on the Gepard.

I've put mine on hold for a little while, whilst I build a P-47N for another Campaign ... hope to get back into it soon (it'll be quick to finish from where I'm at I think).

Cheers

Jeremy,

That's a great kit. I started it several months ago but only work on it occasionally, when I'm in a very relaxed and patient mood. Some of the parts are ridiculously small and need great care getting them off the sprue.

I look forward to watching your progress.

Happy New Year!! -zon

Great, thanks for the heads up guys! I've been looking forward to taking a crack at this kit, but wasn't sure how delicate it was.
Zon, I'm following your build already, part of what motivated me to give it a go
Pat, do you have a build log here on yours?

Happy New Years!

Aloha All and Happy New Year,

At a snail's pace, some progress...

I've just about finished the upper hull and the launcher turret. I've got the paint on order so I can paint behind the running gear on the lower hull, then I can install the road wheels and the tracks. However, I might start the missiles before the paint arrives. We'll see.

Dry Fit together:

I am having a problem with these "Pastern Ducts" holding shape. As it is now, they are splaying the plastic connectors. They are flexible, but have an incredible memory and don't hold the bends necessary to fit properly. Any suggestions are very welcome. There are more small ones at the missles, so I'm concerned about that as well. Sorry for the poor focus.

Nice progress, Zon. Looking good so far.

Nice choice of kit, Jeremy. I have not build the kit myself, but have heard that the kit is a complex build, but extremely detailed. As Pat pointed out beware of small parts

I have finished construction of the SWS with 37 Flak. It is build OOB except for some tool clasps on the front fenders.

Next is the painting of the inside cab and then a dark yellow base coat. I have not decided if I want to camouflage it yet, but think I will just stay with a overall yellow scheme. It has been ages since I just made an overall yellow scheme.

More to follow.

Hello and happy new year.
Glad to see all these great builds taking place.
I'll join this campaign with Mac's Distribution Horch 108 Kfz 70 & 20mm Flak 30 in 1/72.
I'll be using some PE parts from NH Details too.

Some pics :

Jesper: thanks for the kind words. Your build is also looking good. I like the turned wheels. Are the PE tool brackets part of a larger set, or can you get just brackets?

Warlord: I see you are also doing the SA-6. Looking good.

Builds are looking great guys!

Zon: If those are rubber/vinyl, the only suggestion I would have is to heat them a bit to reprogram the memory so to speak.
Looking forward to seeing that thing come together

Jesper: Thanks! I almost didn't buy the kit when I first saw it a while back, but the interior detail convinced me I should rethink my decision. I'm glad I did, and I'm working on some 1/72 projects to get some experience with those little bits before I tackle this project.
Btw, how was that old Italeri kit to build up? I've always enjoyed the heavier duty halftracks, and yours looks like it's coming along nicely.

Marcin, I sense I have seen this SA-6 as an entry into another campaign as well. I believe it is only allowed to enter one campaign pr. kit.

Zon, the PE brankets is part of the Eduard PE set for the SWS basic kit. Since my kit has an armoured cab and another truck bed there is not much else I can use from the PE set, although I am still considering to add the PE license plates. However, I feel no license plates or painted on license plates would be more appropriate for such a late war vehicle.

Jeremy, The Italeri SWS is a very nice kit. Especially considering the low price. It builds up very nicely, but the tracks are tough work. There are two different link styles and Italeri only supplied the exact number of track links, so do not loose any links to the carpet monster. I feel it it wrong that Italeri does not at least include 5-6 extra links pr. side.
If you like big half tracks this one is for you! Very large and beefy due to those large tracks.

Alexander, it will be interesting to see your MAC kit build up. I have heard and read different opinions about them. Looking forward to see more.

It's always been an assumption on my part but the rules don't explicitly dis-allow it. I will leave it up to the campaign leader's judgement. Armorama campaign proposals will now require this to be explicitly stated in the rules.

Jesper: Sweet! I'll keep an eye out for one then And I'm not too worried about yellow/tan parts as I have green carpeting

Gary: Good call, I know this has been a gray area for at least the relatively short time I've been a member of the Kitmaker network.

mmmm.....maybe Gary can add some insight, but I always felt that the purpose of the campaigns is to encourage us to build a "new" model relating to the subject. Thus each campaign would require its own unique model to submit.

So my inclination for this campaign is that the entry must be unique to this campaign and not submitted to others.

now ive got to get going on my build! too much on the bench right now....arrgh!

Jeremy: Thanks for the tip on heating the tubes. I will try that and see what happens. Otherwise, it will be a bent fitting and a bunch of putty!!

Jesper: Thanks for the info on the brackets.

Happy Modelling! -zon

A little more progress on my SWS 37 flak. The base colour is now on and some mud has been added to the running gear. Next is the decals and some more detail painting followed by weathering.

More to follow.
