Ok! guys I need a little help. I pulled the airbrush out of its cubby hole while cleaning my room set up a home made spraybooth and painted my 7TP for the experiance (it has been awhile) not bad, but more time at the controls will be needed. My question is.
1. some of you airbrush Future.
2. How do you apply it.
3. How do you clean the gun.
4. Last time that I tried, I got an orange peel effect.
5. I am a little slow upstairs and need step by step instruction.
6. OH! I use Tamiya acrylics mainly.

For real guys the last time I tried it was not a pleasant experiance either for me or the airbrush..

After the paint drys I will post some pics of my airbrushing

Bob

I forgot to ask Bob,

what type of Air Brush do you have ?

We may be abe to find a "step by step" cleaning video on line for you

Cheers

Paul, I purchased an Airpro Tools PS800 off of ebay a few years back. Probably a Chinese nock off, I will take a pic and post it. Here are a couple of photos of what I was able to do with it. The aircompressor was purchased at Harbor Freight ( Central Pneumatic 84203) and I do not know how to control the air pressure, there is no dial.

I plan on using oils to weather and distress the camo.

Cleaning is dead easy.. squirt some Windex window cleaner in the bowl and either scrub it around a bit with and old brush or, like I can, squirt it through the tip with pressure from your thumb while you hold the valve open with your other hand, if you have a double action brush.. Then I squirt a little more in the spray tip and clean that, then I rinse it all out with good ole water. Of course this only works for acrylics...

Nice work Bob !

Here's a good Video for you :

Cleaning Your Air Brush

Like Warren Says, you can use Windex instead of expensive AirBrush cleaner.

Thank you Warren and Paul, I just sprayed some Future on my White Eagle and Braille Battlefield builds and it worked pretty good, I might need to do a second coat on the 7TP. My main concern was using the Windex with the Amonia and getting it all out of the a/b so that it did not corrode. I will post photos later, now I am getting ready to do the stinky (oil paint) washes and filters..

Don't worry, Windex etc won't corrode a metal airbrush. And it has not affected the rubber seals in mine at all. You can also use Methylated Spirits, de-natured alcohol, lots of different stuff to clean acrylics and future out of you brush.

Paul: There are quite a few decal options, all for the Polish People's Army units operating on the Eastern Front, and a good handful for these heavy tank destroyers. I still haven't decided which one I want to build, but I'll let you know what unit it's from

Bob: Indeed, there's a reason these things were called "Animal Killers", as no tank could survive a direct hit from that monster of a gun!

I read somewhere that a point blank hit from a 152mm blew the turret right off a King Tiger near the end of the war. One shot... BOOM!! I have the Cyber-Hobby Orange Box one in the stash. May build it yet.. And then there is the Zvezda one I have had sitting unfinished for over 2 years. An experimental hair-spray technique that seemed to work fine but never got around to finishing it.

Wow, I don't doubt that for a minute Warren!
These brutes are ugly, but very cool at the same time and I couldn't pass one up. I'm guessing that your hairspray test was for whitewash on that Zvezda kit?

Got it in one Jeremy..

I slipped some tracks on her (they have been drying for about 3 years now) and will fashion a new cover for the mantlet and finish her with a bit m0ore weathering for the Geddit Done Campaign.

Nice work Piotrek !

I've been following your Polish Leopard 2A4 build also - it's looking good.

I wonder if somebody will build a PT-91 Twardy ??

Any takers ??

Cheers

Warren: Lol, and very cool thanks for the pics! How well did you like using that technique, and would you use it again or try something different next time?

Darek: Awesome choice!

Piotrek: Thanks, I look forward to tackling that beast
Looks like your T-72 is coming along nicely, can't wait to see what that's going to look like with paint and decals!

I can't tell, is that a Renault or a Fiat? Or something entirely different?
I agree with Bob's comment on the boots

Hi Jeremy..

I am not sure.. I think it came out well for what I wanted, but it could be better as in more wear in some places... But the technique seems to be sound. Maybe smaller salt crystals might work better?? I am not a big fan of lots of wear and grime on a tank. I don't know why but I don't think many tanks in WW2 lived long enough lives to get much wear on them, but definitely a bit of grime at times. Then again it could be looking terribly muddy etc and then do a river crossing and be clean again. Also, I am sure that if they survived long enough to require maintenance one of the first things they would do is try and give the tank a bit of a wash just to make maintenance easier.. Who knows.. That is what makes this hobby so good. No one is ever really 100% wrong with there grime and wear.... except of course those with there 2 inch wide panel lines on aircraft...

I did join the campaign. I am not sure what i am going to build but i have a choice of either an airplane or some armor stuff. I will try to build at least one of each. I belive it will be Fokker porucznika Stefana Steca, whos personal emblem become an official emplem of Polish Airforce. As a armor i am thinking of Achilles, I have few other models to choose so i can change my mind but for sure i will build something:)

Paul: Thanks, I figured it was, but early armor is not my forte.

Tom: Very cool, look forward to seeing your builds
