Great detailing, Piotrek. It really makes a great difference to the kit. Looking forward to see more.
After changing my mind a lot of times I have finally decided to make the T-34/85 for this campaign. It is the 1/72 UM kit which has a lot of nice details. One of the options in the kit is to fit the rubber rims to the road wheels and another is that the suspension is flexible in height. This gave me the idea of making a burned out tank on a small base.
Construction has already started. Some old school modellers might recognise the base as the Matchbox base from the Comet kit.
More to follow soon.

A little more progress on the T-34/85. The tracks go on well and fit to the ground very well.

Hello Jesper,
How is it going here in the US? I like the UM kits, I have found the construction easy and the vechicle looks good when finished. I will be happy to see your finished dio.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
Bob, going well in the US. Very busy with work, but that is a luxury in times like this.
The UM kit is really nice and very well detailed. The tank and base is now ready for a basecoat and the painting process.
It is going to be a whole new experience to paint a burned out tank, but a lot of colour photoes from the net will help. Basically it will be a lot of black as a base and then orange for lightly rusted areas and white for the wheels to simulate the burned rubber which always seems be be fine white ash when burned.
I have added some twisted copper wire to the base to make the barbed wire stand out more and make it more three dimensional.
More to follow soon.

A little more progress on my T-34/85. I might as well have spare the Russian Green base coat as it is ending up almost entirely black. The white Polish Eagles almost disappeared

Oops, I forgot to post my progress pics regularly, but figure is still unfinished. So now I'm catching up.
First I've painted flesh parts with artists oils: Burnt Sienna, Titanium White and Yellow Ochre. Then uniform with Vallejo Panzer Aces 317 British Tankcrew.
Next I have made shadows on uniform with Vallejo Model Color 70854 Brown Glaze.
And finally, after many attempts, I painted eyes somehow.
Now I plan to made a base.

Here is my finished UM 1/72 T-34/85 DT-5 gun. It was my first try of making a burned out tank. I am not entirely satisfied with the paint job, but considering the scale it is good enough for the display cabinet
Below is the finished model and some of the pictures I used for inspiration.
Comments and suggestions welcome
Edit: looking at the pictures I notice I missed the seam line on one side of the gun. Damn....

Thanks for the comments, Paul and Bob Appreciate it.
Paul, I was not planning to make a wreck myself, but when I looked over the model and noticed the rubber rims on the wheels being seperate I got the idea to build a burned out wreck.
I also had the old Matchbox base lying around and it all came together
Not a perfect result but as a first try I am satisfied. The next one will be better

I must have gotten lucky, I picked up both types in Warsaw, along with the TKS series. Might have to open them up and see if there is PE in them as well. It is being a pain, was hoping to be a OOB. But, alas there is some warpage and some parts will need to be added.

The kit came with two types of Renault turrets, chose the rivited version, but had to scratch some of the parts on it. The instructions are not the greatest, thank god for reference photos of the real deal. I could have gone more into details, but I plan to build another one, more detailed than this one.

Hi all, have been following the campaign and there has been great looking builds and Dio's by all!
Finally made a start on my build last night, a 1:72 Revell Cromwell. Got some work done on the turret and tool boxes onto the hull. With only two and a half weeks left to go I better get cracking!
Cheers,
Tim

I have just finished one of my entries. I'm sorry it was a very off-line build but I had very little time lately and very much to do so I couldn't affort spending more time for taking pictures, progress in building was my priority. I hope it qualifies as "build" although I think I will add few gentle touches to the model in future but the look of the model will not change any more.
Here are the pictures.
