@Eddy: Awesome tank, beautiful paintjob!!

Things turned into a marathon session, but my Sherman is finished. I had a heck of a time getting the tracks to fit right. The detail is nice, but connecting the ends together was a challenge. Most painting was done with a brush, except for the base coat which was done from a rattle can. If the tank looks a little glossy it's because the Dullcote wasn't quite dry yet when I took the pictures.

The crew is from Sojers.

And here are some pictures of the finished product:

Not sure if I'm completely sold on the camo, the black seems a little harsh. I may still try to tone it down a little with some dark gray.

Finally, Jan, thanks for running a fantastic campaign. So what's next for us braille scalers? Also thanks to all who participated. I had a blast reading about everybody's projects and looking at pictures of some great armor!

No time right now to comment on the busy climax and "final deliveries" that are coming in, but just to Jeremy, on your photos: can I suggest using a different background for your photo shoots? I think it is partly the light reflecting off that green surface that is skewing your colours; you could try something more neutral, like white or at least a pale grey or sand colour.

Like everyone I'm finding it impossible to keep up with, and comment on all of the work that's being submitted.

Hi Mark, before I suggest improvements to the camo I'll start by saying that you've built a really nice Sherman there! Re the camo, I suspect that a couple of very subtle 'dirty' filters will help to knock back the 'newness' of the camo, and/or you could try a very subtle filter of the camo green over the black to reduce the contrast (by very subtle I mean that you should struggle to see the difference after each filter). A black filter over the green will also reduce the contrast, but this would need to be a really really subtle filter, it's very easy to over-do black.
As an example here are a couple of links showing the same subject before:
http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/John_Hadaway/Models/Matchbox%201%2076%20scale/Mathcbox%20A34%20Comet/262e0276.jpg
and after:
http://s1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/John_Hadaway/Models/Matchbox%201%2076%20scale/Mathcbox%20A34%20Comet/8ead34e9.jpg
application of some dirty filters (plus a bit of dry brushing and a very quick dusting with pastel powder). As a bonus I find that the dirty filters also tone down the contrast of decals helping to make them look more integrated with the paintwork. I hope this helps.

@Jeremy
Re Matthews comment about background colour, I've got a artist's pastel pad that has a selection of fairly drab coloured pages. It's a quick easy way to experiment with different coloured backgrounds (I used a grey page in a few of the photos of my Comet on the previous campaign page and you can see how the different background colour has modified the camo colours). Nice build by the way!

@val
I don't care if the F4 is off topic, it's a thing of great beauty and a pleasure to see. From your photos it looks like the kit offers an incredibly detailed replica - I'm guessing this is more a measure of your modelling skills than of the original kit!! (I could also believe it's a 1/32 kit next to a giant iPod)

@Eddy

Hope you like the results.

Yes, very much!!

And once again, thanks to Jan for a superbly run campaign!!

Cheers

Hi John,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely try a filter to tone down the black; I just ran out of time and wanted to make sure I had the pictures posted on time. The pictures are a little on the dark side, but between my workbench lighting and Photoshop that was the best I could do. Hopefully I can take some pictures outside today.

Matthew and John: Thanks guys, you are both indeed correct. Normally I shoot under natural sunlight on a light blue poster board, makes all the difference in the world. Here are a couple of my final shots fellas,

Mark: Nice work on the Sherman, that black over green camo looks kiss arse

Greetings fellow campaigners.

As I had a slice of spare time I started on the preliminary stages of rounding things up. Needless to say, I had forgotten how darn involved that process can be and there is still a fair amount to do. The "action" during this campaign has exceeded my wildest expectations and shows from the size of this thread and its assocaited material. And we still aren't 100% over YET!!!

It took about an hour to check, double check and triple check everyone's status and start to award the ribbons. Thanks to triple redundancies and a helpful XO I caught a couple of omissions. If you check the Master Chart at the top of the page you will see a new column titled "Ribbon Awarded." Please check your profile page to make sure that you see the prestigious BB Campaign ribbon in your awards area. We still have a bit of time and a couple of people that need to fullfil their final campaign requirements, so to you, hop to it.

There are 114 images in the official Kitmaker campaign galley and 151 in the offline Feature gallery. There are still a few images that I might want to add in the last few pages so if everyone could please leave them accessible to this thread it would be greatly appreciated. I promise to post here when I believe that I've grabbed them all.

Braille - Super job, Eddy! That NVA beast truly shows all the effort that you enhanced it with. I think that we had an M-48 in this campaign that was just itching to take it on.

dutchboyinohio - Mark, great to see that Sherman ready for action. I absolutely like that black camo and have often though of doing something similar on one of mine. Just be careful as I recall some T-34's and other antagonists lurking in this thread.

naimbrain -

Well in my case I was trying to meet the 'six builds' challenge that Jan had previously thrown down at my feet many, many pages ago.

Jan, I know you were only kidding mate, but a challenge is a challenge. So now I present my final offerings.

John, you must be mistaken! It was quite a few pages back and I thought that we had progressively upped your requirement to six, nine and then twelve! Seriously, great job and you have every reason to be proud and feel accomplished for getting so many "shelf-queens" finished. Perhaps you can now turn your attention to completing any others in the "Getter Done" campaign.

vonHengest - Congratulations, Jeremy! I had faith in you and am happy to see the results of your efforts. The lighting and background really seems to have made a difference.

Erhan - This campaign is not over until I say it's over!!! Seriously, if you want another small scale campaign then no one here will stop you from suggesting or starting one. That goes for anyone else that hasn't had enough of small scale after this one. My only other comment on the subject would be that any new one should have a start date of at least some time in November.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll keep checking by here over the next couple of days to read any further posts and see how many more stragglers show up. (aren't I just too nice!) As soon as I get a chance I'll update the BB Campaign offsite Blogs gallery and post when that occurs.

Not quite the final HURRAH but getting close...

Cheers,
Jan Braille Forever

Erhan: Dang! Nice collection you have there! There are several other campaigns that a lot of those would qualify for

Jan: Thanks for the support! And yes the lighting and that blue poster board make all the difference, at least for my camera. I just noticed that two of my photos are similar, let me know if you want an additional photo at another angle for the campaign gallery and the offline feature gallery.

Scott: I still have nightmares of 1/72 PE because of you man Seriously though, your skill in that aspect is pretty incredible and I look forward to seeing more of your braille builds

Hi Fellow Braillers,

I was unable to do anything on my Opel Blitz for a final build, too many things happening on the domestic scene. However I was mightily impressed by the final run in and the dedication of those getting things finished. This has been a great campaign and I have enjoyed being part of it. Many thanks to Jan for keeping us at it and running it in a superb way.

Well done everyone, all the best,

Paul

JAN and everyone else in the campaign,

I must apologize for not completing my two 1/144 Tigers. Too much work, NG Duty, and domestic interference prevented me from applying the amount of effort I needed IOT to complete in time.

JAN, you have run a incredible campaign that I regret not completing, which is of no fault by you. I'll post some images of my build progress so far just so everyone can see what I've been working on. I believe I've contracted AMS and am trying to do too much on this scale, which also contributed to my incompletion.

Great job to everyone!

Congratulations to everyone on all their great looking builds and a superb campaign!
And a big thanks to Jan for another hugely successful Braille scale campaign, and all the extra hard work you and Mathew are putting into the feature.
It was great to see some new people trying out Braille kits and I hope they had fun and will build more in the future.

I only wish i'd had the time to do more than 2 builds for this one before running off to all the other campaigns going on, it's been a busy year already!
Thanks for the great ribbon and I look forward to the next Braille campaign somewhere down the track!
Cheers,
Tim

I had to unenlist but this campaign got me back to painting by hand once more. What I learned trying to paint the Matchbox FT17 helped me finish painting my 1/700 Yushio-class submarine for the Dry Docked campaign and is getting me back to building models.

Thanks Jeremy, to be honest it is just practice and patince with the PE. I am sure with some practice anyone can do the same? Did you see the PE on the bike for my JGSDF dio .

Just had a look at the last two pages that I'd missed and again am amazed at the work that's been done during this campaign. And I now have a second ribbon.

My thanks to the leadership of this campaign for doing such a phenomenal job. To all the members my thanks for their encouragement and all the sharing of tips and techniques. I'm just sorry that I never finished my Panzer I and Pak gun but at least now I am so close that I know that I will.

Best of luck to all,
AJ

Firstly, thanks for all the kind words about how this campaign was run. Also, lets not forget all the enthusiasm of the membership that really added to the entire experience. It was certainly one of the most active campaigns that I have had the pleasure to participate in.

Further, from a quick look at the "active" Kitmaker galleries I think that we definitely made a big splash as far as gallery submissions are concerned. From what I see there aren't that many with over 100 photos submitted. In fact, after looking through what I believe are most of the former campaign galleries I only found two that exceeded the number of pictures we have in the offsite feature gallery. But still, 114 images in the campaign's Kitmaker gallery is far from shabby.

@vonHengest - Actually Jeremy, I was going to ask you if you might take an image of your monster from the front right (3/4 view as your front left one). You don't need to post it in the official campaign gallery but can do so in this thread. Just PM me when you post it and I'll scoop it up for the feature.

@majjanelson - Jeff, you were one of the people that I was hoping would have squeezed in your 1/144 builds during this short reprieve period. There were a couple of other people that I believe were very close but I understand how life can throw us a curve. I'd have loved to have your micro-builds in the feature (hint: Kitmaker Gallery is still accepting submissions).

@Firefly74 - Tim, you fulfilled the campaign requirements and anything else would have been gravy, as they say.

@GaryKato - I want to thank you for helping sort issues out and keep this motley crew on track. My only regret is that your builds didn't make it across the finish line. It is also great that in some way this campaign and what it created caused you to hop back into the saddle.

@AJB - You finished another one and you got the coveted prize, what more can one ask for!. Do us all a favour and finish your Panzer and PaK and post them in the Braille forum. Don't let them languish any longer when they are so close to being done.

@Dangeroo - Ah, the feature. Now that is going to take a while. Image wise it will definitely rival the Matchbox one as far as numbers are concerned.

Well, the thread is no longer "sticky" but it appears from all the posts that it is not ready to fade away quietly. Do I see another page happening! I have contacted a few members about providing additional photos and either Matthew or myself will hound you until you do. You can place them in this thread or post them in the Braille forum. If the latter option is taken, please contact one of us via PM that you have done so.

Once I have the offsite gallery updated I'll post here how to visit it.

Cheers,
Jan

Scott: Well to be honest I was trying to avoid looking at that.... I've kinda had a sour taste in my mouth so to speak after trying unsuccessfully to attach individual buckles for the straps on my 1/48 Hetzer. Of course it was my first time and probably not the best choice for ones first venture into the realm of PE.

Jan: Sure thing, I'll get one to you today if I can get back home in time. Otherwise I'll have it to you tomorrow

Congrats to all who finished their kit in time and million thanks to Jan for coordinating and leading this campaign. It was fun all the way.
Next campaign is Airfix campaign, right Jan?
