hello,
Duncan, I am not offended, because criticism is always constrution. This painting was my first try with hairspray (relatively easy) and not discontent me. I will follow your advice, I added wear and soiling ..

Hello again,
My progress so far: I put most of the pieces together, I painted the interior, and I also painted the base coat. I have also masked off the rear of the tank, so that I can paint the yellow triangle, used by the crew of the captured M10’s as an aerial identification. Weathering to follow and I am thinking of giving it a winter camouflage. I will be adding some German equipment and perhaps some crew members.
(ignore the M20, it’s for another campaign)
Regards,

Thanks’ Duncan, it’s a really good kit comes together easily. The only thing I didn’t like was the facts that no ammunition was given with the set … you need to buy the rounds separately. I used bicarbonate soda mixed with some white glue and water.
Will post some pictures of the finished tank later on today.
Regards,

Looks nice, Vladimir. Looking forward to see the pictures of the finished model.
I have chosen to build an old Tamiya T-34 I have in my stash. I will build it without the turret as a converted ammunition carrier used by a German PAK 40 unit.
I made some progress last night. This is going to be a quick build. These old Tamiya models just falls together.
More to follow....

Hi all,
First off I would like to thank Duncan for this campaign, second I hope to put my build on a diorama eventually but for now (and for the campaign, that's also why the tracks are so clean! ) here she is:
I hope to build another model for this campaign, if I have time and if I find another model that I wanted to build. I am looking forward to the “knocked out” campaign too. Thanks’ again and looking forward to all your builds!

Jesper...... A T34 converted into a munitions carrier will be great looking forward to seeing more, I know what you mean about Tamiya models, Dragon are great to look at but a pain to build = hence my sloooooooooooooooooow build.
I thinking of trying a few more brands I may try Tristar or Hobbyboss foir my next campaign.
Vladimir.... Well done on your build of the M10 and thanks for the thanks ... any chance of a few more photo's of your model please? ...
...I am looking forward to the 'Knocked Out' campaign too, still not sure what model to buy/build yet ( see above ) but seeing it runs for so long I may build 2! ... you could always incoparte your M10 into that campaign.
Regards Duncan.

Fellow threat heads,
I see some nice finished build here It has been to long that i looked to this site
Unfortunally my paintjob of spraying the green stripes on the model (what i thought was a walk in the park... NOT!) is been....a disaster... This all hapend a month ago and was very disapointed in myself. I tried to respray the basecolor in two days (you can never put a two weeks work in two days) and that backfired on me with more disapointment. Now i can not finish the model this year because i have bought a new house and have to pack my modelingstuff.
Little by little i get my pasion for painting back and feeling the need to paint again.
Regards,
Remco

Very nice build,
The BA-10 is a great choice. looking forward to see it finished.
I have made a little more progress on my T-34 munitions carrier. I just need to make a cloth cover for the hull opening.
More to follow.

A little more progress on my T-34. The basic color is on. It looks more green in the pictures than in reality. More details to be painted and decals added.
More to follow.

A little more progress on my T-34. I constructed a cover for the turret opening from plastic rod and aluninum foil. Decals are on and details painted. Next are the weathering.

Tom:
SWEET! I built this one 95% last fall-winter (final weathering and insignia and hanging the cans and crap on it still to do ) - it's a cool kit of what I think is an A-1 subject, and really nicely done, IMHO. And it's hard to beat for a captured tank in German service fan. Had I known this campaign was coming up, I would have done this one for this, too! You have a winner, there, and ENJOY!
Of course, when you find that this thing had 16 - 20+ gasoline cans hung around it... all I could think of when I saw this (and in historic pictures) was "Wow! What a pyromaniac's dream! A rolling Ronson ready to light!" That, and it took a way braver man than me to crew it, given all the opportunity available for a rolling pig-roast to happen!
I found the kit went together mostly very well - but careful study of the parts, fit and the instructions BEFORE gluing is a must, as I found out after the fact with the suspension outer-cover plates ... . And that really awesome turret with its tiny and rather detailed antenna mount and the spaced armor... I put the armor on first, and then tried to fit that complex antenna mount into the small space it lurks in on the rear of the actual turret... how I wish I had put that on before the spaced armor...! (and were I doing this one again, I think I would paint the turret and armor surfaces before assembling them... must be the spaced-armor effect keeping the enemies projectiles at a distance .)
You are in line for some fine modelling, and I do look forward to seeing this done!
Bob
Bob,
I have taken your advice and built the turret with the armor off and the antenna mount was still difficult. If you built the mount with the spaced armor on, I salute you and your abilities.
Here is a quick in progress photo.

Thanks for the comments.
Duncan, I have used the Vallejo airbrush base colour "German dunkelgelb". It works great and saves a coat of paint on the tank. The only issue I have is that I believe there is too much of a greenish hue to it compared to other manufacturers dunkelgelb.
I have now started weathering. I am also using the old hairdryer trick on the tracks to get them sagging realistically.
The lighting in these photos are a little sharp so the contrast is a little "heavy". More weathering and better photos to come...

The good old hairdryer method still works. The Tamiya rubber tracks sags just right.
I have added a little mud to the suspension. Getting closer to finished.

After some more washes and highlights I am calling this one done.
It is Tamiya's 1/35 T-34 with the turret removed and repaired combat damage to the front hull. It is being pressed into service with the Wehrmacht as an ammunitions carrier.
Comments welcome

Well done Jesper, nicely done indeed, the finish and weathering is just right in my books, the old hairdryer trick certainly worked well here = nicely done.

everybody, I realise it's been quite a while since my last update - 'Joan Rivers' had started fighting back and resisting my efforts at 'cosmetic surgery', so I had to put her in the 'naughty corner' so she could consider the error of her ways and realise that ultimately resistance is futile
The back-plate is finally nearly finished - just have to add 4 more nuts and bolts, then I can glue on the hull and get on with fitting the tool clasps and brackets
Cheers,
Dierk

Thanks for the comments, Duncan and Sal. Appreciate it.
Sal, for the turret opening I simply used plastic rod bend approximately into a circle. You can see it in the picture below. Then covered it with triple layers of tin foil. I have seen similar covers on Pz. IIIs, so I guess the same look could have been used on a captured T-34.
Nice details, Dierk. Remind me again, what is the base kit?

Hi all. Great looking builds going on here. I have been dropping in regularly for a look while waiting for the kit I ordered for this campaign. After waiting several months for the kit it has become apparent that it will more than likely never arrive.
So I have come up with another idea I'd like to run by for an ok before I start work as it isn't really a kit as such but a kit bash.
It is a captured Japanese 70mm mountain gun being used by Australian gunners in New Guinea. Based on these two photos:
http://cas.awm.gov.au/item/015838
http://cas.awm.gov.au/item/127990
I'll be using the 70mm from this Waterloo pack:
And these mortar crew figures from Eureka Miniatures I'll modify. Australian figures are scarce and these were the closet to a gun crew I could find. I will build a small display base as well.
Cheers,
Tim
