Tim: those photos are interesting. I'm intrigued by how tall Lt. Dawson is in comparison to the gun. In 1/72nd this arrangment will be tiny.

Happy Modelling, -zon

@ Jesper - the base kit is the ancient Italeri PzKpfw IV F1/F2/G (no 217) that had been gathering dust in various lofts for over 30 years. Hence my nickname for it: Ancient structure with a lot of new bits tacked on = Joan Rivers The dimensions are pretty accurate, other than that time has not been kind...the back-plate is by far and away the worst part of the kit - 20 (!) ejector marks, some of which in structural details, and most of the detail was missing...the job of updating it was not made any easier by the Aber PE parts having the wrong kind of bolt-detail (plain nuts that you are supposed to add styrene 'bolt-threads' to) instead of the correct slotted hex-nuts.
AM parts are by Tank (cupola), Aber, Royal Model, ET Model (PE), RB (armament), MasterClub (nuts/bolts/rivets) and - I think - Bronco (tracks)
As you can see, my attempt at saving money by using a kit I already had has somewhat backfired
Cheers,
Dierk

Well, you are doing a lot of great work on that old beast. Money savings aside, it is also very fun to make a silk purse from a sows ear once in a while.

It will be interesting to follow your build. I am looking forward to see the end result.

I was intending to enter with a BA-64 that was captured by UN forces in Korea and converted into what could be described as an armored hot-rod. Alas this is not going to be the case as I have managed to misplace the kit !

Instead, as I am in a WW1 mood at present, I have decided to build a Female MK IV Beute-Tank as used by the Germans. (If you look over at the WW1 campaign, you will see my Male MK V taking shape).

Here is my dated shot, our local free paper from a couple of days ago, the kit box is still shrink wrapped as can be seen by the crazy reflections !

Nice choice, Ian. Looking forward to follow this one and check out your other WWI build. Always wanted to build one of these kits, but got around to it.

Some great kits here looking forward to seeing them come together, the WW1 MkIV is a fantastic choice well done Ian, and Dierks MkIV is really looking the part with a lot of effort being lavished upon old Joan!
The Panther and Hezter 10.5cm in those small scales (too small for me) ... it will be very interesting to see their build ups.

All the best
Regards Duncan.

Hi guys,
I hope I am still in time to join the posse and the very inspirational stuff found in this campaign.

I'd like to enter the First Air M13/40 1/72 resin kit. I didn't plan to build as a captured tank at first, but the pull of the Kanagroo markings was just too strong. ;-)

It is still a bit glossy as I just sealed it with Future, which will make the pinwashes easier.

PS: I hope I can be forgiven for not having taken a start picture with a newspaper, but I can actually proof this kit was only shipped to me shortly before the turn of the year.

Cheers
Rob

I have some progress. Unfortunately, I have lost two zimmerit parts. It is my first experience with P.E. zimmerit.

Hi Folks,

I joined awhile ago, but only I got the time to start my build,
here goes a T-26 from Mirage.

Fitting isn't easy neither the detailing.. it's going to be OOB, a winter camo & german version.
I started on the turret and also joined the bottom of the tank to the 2 halves of the lower hull

I ran into a BIG problem... the track didn't accept glue very well, Tamyia glue had no effect, I tried CA glue and it dissolved part of the tracks, it looked melted or something...
So this is going to be a trackless tank.

I read somewhere about a Testors "thin" cement. Does anyone know more about that? I've had limited success with Plastruct cement on softer plastic myself. Otherwise some mechanical means like drilling/poking holes and using staples to attach the ends.

Am I right in thinking you're talking about link and length tracks? RPM do a set of indy tracks for not much money:

Good luck!

No Dierk, it was some kind of Tamyia type tracks, long plastic strip, with a connecting piece that had attachments to both sides of the track.

But I'm leaving it like this.

@Sal , I might use another kit for that Campaign,if I will join it. Still have a bunch of unfinished kits..

full on speed build.

made progress this week on the C7P, got the overall components assembled (canopy and suspension are not glued on until after painting):

started the rough assembly of the driver as well with Legends head.

hope to blast through the rest of the build as i am keen to get to painting a model which i haven't in a few months.

cheers to one and all, bd.

PS: to john - nito74, i have the same tracks for my model as yours. the instructions say to use super glue (ie. ca glue). the trick to doing these kind of tracks is to string fishing line through the tracks to get the "joint" held together and then apply a small amount of glue.

once the glue dries, cut off the fishing line and the track should hold. salvage your tracks by covering them with lots of mud and it will be unnoticeable. hope this helps.
