Hi Zon...... I only using that photo as interspersion for my KT, which I may even back-date a-bit and add some zimmerit

I reckon wherever you can get inspiration from then that's the way to go....

Some great images here of 'Yom Kippur War' = some T-62's in there, plus a massively wrecked Centurion!

Duncan: Thanks for the link!! That Centurion looked like the insided had been plucked completely out. Just hull sides and a turret!

Also, your panther picture is awesome!! You could combine that with the Railroad campaign and have a locomotive run up on it. Incredible how it got under the tracks.

Happy Modelling, -zon

That's not a Panther that's a KT with production turret, and it's in one of the weiredest predicaments I've seen, LOL!

My bad. I see it now. I was too busy looking at the rail track and wondering how it burrowed under there!!

That KT is definitely well stuck, wouldn't have liked to be the one to call that into the C.O!!!

Here's a Panther for you Zon...

....the left track is off and I reckon maybe some of the road wheels too!

I would have done a Panther (my favorite all time tank) but already doing one for 'Under a Different Flag' campaign! but I suppose a KT is a sort of big Panther.
Like a few others I'm getting some bits and bobs plus an engine for the brute and I'll probably go for the CMK kit.

Hope all is well with everyone and Happy Easter to you all.

Happy belated Easter, and the Panther is my all time fav as well

Still looking for that upgrade kit for the RSO-01, may have to do just what you said Zon. I need to find some good tutorials on mud as well..

I think Mig's website provides some good ones. I haven't gathered up the courage (or Mig products) to try it myself though.
(My Viet Nam mutt is still AWFULLY clean right now.)

Making mud is/will be pretty hard I think, nearly as hard as finding a tutorial on the web! = took a while to find a good one.

I read wall paper-paste is a really good medium for boggy mud, but it takes an age to dry and is a real pain! but looks good.... Mud-link

I got think about whats available for the modeler regarding 'Knocked-out' tanks etc...
a quick search of just ebay (don't worry I don't live on there ) I found that ... Armour Scale, Mig, TWS, Accurate Armour make burnt out wheels, and Jerry cans which could help us out.

Found this of a Dieppe Raid Churchill ...

Nice image of 3 Panthers in Normandy vehicle dump!

(Obviously I've put this image up for Discussion Purposes only)

Can somebody point me in the right direction regarding images/reference of Panther/King Tiger wheel hubs???? don't worry I'm not turning into a rivet counter but I may remove 1 or 2 wheels and I just wondered what they looked like.

Is there a Resin kit ? (of the hubs) and which 'PanzerWrecks' is the best for showing King Tigers?

Many thanks Duncan.

Sean: I tried searching the Mig forums but struck out..

Duncan: That's exactly the kind of mud I'll be going for, nice and juicy, thanks! I'll have to make a practice run first to make sure that I can actually pull it off.

As it's a long way off I'll sign up. Not sure what to build yet, but there's a great shot of a late Tiger I on its side in Normandy (with a GI leaning on it...) and I've got an Italeri late Tiger in my stash...

Tom......... Welcome to the campaign, a KO'ed Tiger 1 on its side will be great!

Jeremy......I know what you mean about having a practice I just got hold of a (very cheap) ICM Panther D to practice on = Zimmerit and burnt/rust effects, maybe we should post up our practices latter on? This will be my first attempt at the old hairspray & salt trick and my results (if any) and the same with your mud my help others.

This account of a Battle on the Western Front contains some great reference and idea's (the dead horses are a bit grim though) with Allied and German tanks featured.

Looking at the pictures I was struck by how many vehicles didn't have tracks! I guess this is down to either being picked up by crews for spares or extra Armour, or more likely after the battle and the scrap-man. There's nothing to stop anyone building a knocked out vehicle long after the Battle/Wars end as a heavily cut up and rusted hulk, tricky but it would look fantastic!

A Panther tanks fate from after the battle to tourist attraction to being cut up by the scrap-man.

Remco........ Welcome and thanks for joining in, a T-34 could be the most knocked out tank ever! as they are in so many countries and conflicts,..... right up to the present day!
I was only reading the other day about the Cypriot T34/85's during the Turkish invasion in 1974.

BIG Knocked out tanks photo link, don't think I need to post up any pic's again! = ever

Duncan,

Thats a really interesting photo... especially the wheels. they've seen to be mixture of T-34 early and T55 wheels.

The link has some cool photos! The T-34 photos i have seen in T-34 the mythical weapon book. There are a lot of photos of T-34 completely blown away with only the suspension, wheels, tracks and bottom left!!!
Thats a quick build and nice diorama
But, it makes a nice combination with the MIG k.o. T-34 kit...

Something to think about...

Regards,

Remco
