Sal.... I was wrong Sal it's not a model a week it's a Diorama! Great build, I like the way you've got the KV in there too.

Craig.... Your 'San Diego tank rampage' idea is fine and a original take on a KO'd AFV, looking forward to what you come up with.

Thanks for the complements guys, the KV was from the KV Tank Campaign, the inside of the diorama looks like this
Photobucket
The figures were build for the Winter Worriers Campaign. All total in this 1 dio is 6 different kits for 4 different campaigns. These things are addicting

Craig: I seem to recall from the footage that the tank was pretty bare: i.e. no stowage, no external MG's. It might have had the pioneer tools and such that are typical for the vehicle, but nothing of personal items. Not sure which version it was, as I'm not that good at knowing those differences. HTH.

Most likely an M60A3, yet it is really hard to tell. The differences are in the small details, the aircleaners, and gunsights. Anyway, by 1995 the Army NG would have had the A3's, as the Regulars would have long since gone to the M1A1.

Wayne is right, it should be an A3. My unit here in PA had M1's and M1IP's by 1994 and the State was in the process of turning in all the A3's. That was sight all by itself, 40-50 A3's lined up, nose to tail with the tank in front of it waiting for the low boys to come and pick them up. I think most of those tanks were donated to townships and local VFW's for display or sold to foreign countries. I even read about the A3's being stripped and cleaned and then dumped off the coast to make artifical reefs. What a waste of a good tank.

Good luck with the dio, that should be a good one.

thanks again

Hi Greg , I know it's not an M10 but there are some great colour images of a Serbian M36 that you might find very useful here and here

Also there is a M10 Achilles on page 6 of this thread, not really shot up but might help, and an M36 Jackson on page 4.
M10 here in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest not really very clear but might help.

All the best Duncan.

Cool picture, Phill. Nice scene to depict. It will look stunning when finished. The camouflage will be difficult to get to look right, but I am sure you can do it.

Looking forward to see more

Jesper thanks for that vote of confidence lol I think i am gonna need it , got an old Tamiya Marder lll 76.2mm version and its pretty much only good for parts now so the front plate is now going on this one ..this kit is seriously showing its age and by the look of it it wasn't much good to start with,so many things wrong with it , glad its going in this campaign

Phil,

Thats a great photo for many reasons, but the scene would make a great dio. Good luck with your Marder.

Does anyone know where to get some good photos or line drawings of a M4A3 75mm with wet stowage? I am trying to do some interior of my M4 and I know there is some differences in where the ammo was stored when it was switched from dry to wet. I have some photos, but could use a couple more to make sure I get this right so if someone knows where I can get some that would be great.

Appreciate the help.

I will be posting some pics later tonight showing what i have done so far with this little Marder .

Ok, here are a couple of photos to show the progress of my build. I've completed the bogies and most of the hull. I decided that since I plan on having all the hatches open on this Sherman that I wanted to have some interior. So, I've added the Verlinden interior kit that was designed for the Tamyia M4A3 and am in the process of modifying it to fit my Dragon kit and convert it from dry ammo storage to wet ammo storage.

thanks

Kevin ,, Thats starting to look pretty good mate , I've heard that that Verlinden interior set ain't that great or is that just some one who don't like Verlinden very much and jealous they can't do better

I've done some work on the Marder lll Ausf H , been kit bashing the hell out of it ,here's some pics of it so far ..
Front armour plate nicked form a destroyed Tamiya marder lll ausf m

I made some ammo storage tube but i hate them and there to big ,,gonna rip em out and make new ones .

Radios nicked from a Eduard Panther PE set

Drive sprocket and interior nicked from a Italeri Panzer38T parts kit.

The gun is from Dragon's Pak 40 set .

That's it for now but more will follow soon ...

Kevin... Great start on your Sherman, the Verlinden interior set looks pretty comprehensive, how do you go about sticking that resin in there? regular modeling glue or ca?

Phil... Awesome work as usual, you never take the easy route!

I finally got to play with my airbrush I had the darn thing for over 20 years sat in it's box! I sprayed on some Tamiya semi-gloss black (rattle can), then layered on some red and brown shades, tomorrow = pigment, hairspay, salt and more paint!

Right hand side Armour has been left off to aid painting, I would leave off the back as well if I had to build it again.
