Gary,
That clamp was a Christmas gift from my brother about 20 years ago and this is one of the first times I've ever used it; its from Craftsman. It worked great, made the corner seams line up perfectly.
thanks
Kevin

I may throw my hat in on this one. Before I go looking through the stash, are partially assembled kits allowed? If not, no problem> I have a few partials collecting dust that could use a proper thrashing.

Happy Easter everyone. This morning before the festivities kicked off, I was able to finish my dio for this campaign. Here is my finished M4A3 after striking mines which is based on three different photos of the same thing. All three photos were taken in the fall of '44 so I used some ideas from each photo for my dio.
I hope you enjoy.
thanks

Thanks guys. It was a challenge doing a Ko'd tank that still shows the integrity of the interior and is completely stuck in the mud. That is something I've never attempted before so it was great to put all the skills to the test.
I enjoyed the campaign and will keep tabs on it until it's done. Thanks again for input; keep up the good work.

Beautiful diorama, Kevin. Both on the Sherman and the ground work.

Altho I may not be able to start for awhile, I'd like to get in on this. My project will be...
May add figures and another vehicle if I can find the right ones.

Sorry that last pic did not come up. Never had such a hard time trying to post them. Let's try again...
The Academy kit has what I take to be a rudimentary interior with the major elements included. Since visibility will be severely limited once all's together this will be an OOB build. The kit also offers the option of individual track links joined by the guide teeth. I don't think I'll be doing that to myself.
Overall, this to date is proving to be an enjoyable kit.

Kevin ....Your Sherman is fantastic, well done, the ground work is very realistic.
I very sorry I haven't been able to post for some time, as I managed to get hurt at work ! enough to say a heavy engine cover and my left arm and right hand ! = Ooooch (and a lot of swearing), getting better now but no model building as yet.
Glad to be back.
Regards Duncan.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, did you need surgery? Hope your reovery is short and 100% hand injuries can be evil, indeed.
Got the interior painted, sufficently scuffed, and installed. Will be painting the exterior before final assembly because of the sand sheilds and the finish will be stone and slate with no blue accordng to research from Hyperscale.
Am still waiting on the other components for this from Scalehobbyist.

All right, enough. I've better things to do with my time than fight for an hour trying to get photos to appear here. Which, for the most part, they seem not to. So long, all.

Evening everyone, here are two progess photos of my Sherman. These photos show the Sherman with most of the painting completed and no flat coat. I've also been able to get most of the figure painting done and I've added the first layer of mud on the dio base; both not shown in the photos. I think it will take another two light layers to get the model in the base with the mud layered up around the vehicle and tracks so it looks right.
Gary, thanks for the complement. You should get in on this since the campaign doesn't end until 2013. Come on in, the waters fine.
Thanks
Kevin
Your Sherman is looking amazing!!
P.S.
What base colour did you use for it?
Thanks

I need to learn how to build a "Knocked Out" tank someday, other than just buying burnt out wheels.

Euan,
The base color is Model Master Olive Drab darkened with some flat black and then multiple layers of olive drab that was progressively lightened. That process was followed by multiple oil paint washes in black, gray and brown. It was a lengthy process, but the end result was well worth the effort.
thanks

Hi,
I'm not sure if this has been asked, but I'm thinking of doing a knocked out pak38 for a bit of side story for a diorama and was wondering if it would be applicable for this campaign?
Cheers
Jeff

Sorry for the delay in my response, 4 month old at home.
I'm planning on using an unbuilt Pak 38 from the DML RSO/3 Kit.
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6684.html
I have a diorama in mind and I was hoping to model it as being wrecked out my retreating German forces. It's a little tricky, I've found lots of photos of intentionally knocked out tanks but not artillery pieces. Hi Ho Google away!
Cheers

The campaign guidelines on ice, mud, water is an inspiration for a knocked out tank for me. I went through a few of my references and found a couple of good shots. I do not know if I will do water or ice, but ice would be a fun challenge.
I went through my stash and found a suitable kit. I will use the historic plastic models kit of the panzer I ausf. A command tank. It is a nice little kit except for the running gear and tracks so it will fit this diorama perfectly.
More to follow when I progress....

Nice pics Jesper, as it goes a picture says 1000 words. The shot of the tanks in the river is very cool. Would not want to be in the drivers seat of one of those old crates for that one
Good to see some movement on this thread. I made a Pz4 conversion that doesn't count but am thinking a KO'ed kingtiger. I have the kit sitting there waiting for so long, just need some time to build it and KO it
